  1. yea this is appearing broken to me. After the faster crashes with Claralux i am unable to change the first freeze resulting in a crash. I uninstalled all 3 lighting affect mods one at a time to test what was causing it and by the time all 3 were done it still happens. Clean install seems the only option at this point. my problem is, i am not sure how to properly go about this. does this mean i must remove all my mods even from my nexus mod manager? will uninstalling them not be enough? do i need to delete too? Will SkSE need be removed? or can i leave it as is? I know i made .ini changes in the past, will this freshinstall reset them? I remember when i made my character i HAD to have Warzones installed in a fresh game to make sure it worked. I simply have never done this and would like to understand what happens when i do this. So bummed i will lose all my progress on my current character, was totally loving the advancements i made on him. Going to be hard to replicate my characters setup. Btw this will delete all character content saves correct?
  2. Very good advice, i am going to consider it. I should have mentioned the majority of those mods were added when i made this new character. He is actually fairly new only 80 hours played level 44. Normally my games (only have another one on skyrim) go on for far longer then that. Only mods i added i would say are the UNP body, CBBE patch, and some of those character model that really just changed many companions appearances. I believe only other mods i added during my time of playing was the Dovakin relaxes too, immersive patrols, and my 3 lighting mods. speaking of lighting, just attempted to update Claralux from v2A to v4A, because BOSS said it was obsolete and MGE (the author) appeared to have cleanups in the update. When i re-installed it i followed installations but rather waiting 31 days i waiting around 13 or 14, even when dealing with waiting screen the freezes were happening quite often. so did not want to risk going to 31 and crashing somewhere around 25 hahah. other then that i followed install instructions... the curious thing is when install was finished i booted up Skyrim and sat in the tavern as i have been doing for 2 or 3 days now (my battle mage must be dealing with alcohol poisoning by now) but rather dealing with multiple freezes, on the first freeze the game crashed. Makes me wonder if one of your original guesses being the lighting mods causing the error is the source. I have not gotten to Climates of Tamriel yet or imaginator. Luckly i have had most of the day off and to myself to spend a whole lot of time going off the BOSS program cleaning up my mods. You should notice the majority of the errors are now gone. btw my performance was getting better on those freezes for while till i got around to Claralux, it was still happening no matter what but unless my hopeful mind was playing tricks on me i do think that clean up was helping slightly but something is still at the source i have not gotten to yet. btw, ignore the JSwords.esm ... i did correct that but apparently boss does not seem to recognize the patch for Jswords.esm. Only thing i did not want to touch was the WarZones mod and better whiterun. I am only running 1 .esp of WIF cloaks btw. The better whiterun mod i be willing to just trash if need be, but that Warzones mod is just at the core a reason i made this new file lol. Gonna take a break from this till tomorrow, i'll be thinking on what you mentioned and consider that new change up with Claralux also.
  3. ah ok, had that post of mine sitting around while i played around with settings in the game to add my results, so did not see your post geogiegril. I will go through the boss log and update what it suggest, though if the updates require the dlc's i will have to look into it and if i feel it will work i will purchase the dlc's to help fix this with those mods. i have no other direct programs running while playing skyrim, Steam is running in the background and my McAfee Total Protection is maintaining my computer, i cant imagine that is sucking up a whole ton of my memory though. Opinions on that? I remember in the past i shut off a lot of programs i did not use though i am sure there are some running. I get updates for things like java or HP here and there but i close those out by the time i start attempting to run skyrim. I am really hard pressed to believe skyrim is all of a sudden taking up so much memory my computer can no longer handle small background programs like steam or McAfee. I can play multiple instances of TOR and GW 2 ( i have recently deleted my GW 2 program though) if i wanted without experiencing any lag. As per my last post i really am thinking it is a mod conflicting, i remember toward last days playing skyrim some time ago these crashes were becoming prevalent but the game was still somewhat playable, though i do think i was getting tired of dealing with it after awhile. interesting note, before i was able to get BOSS properly updated, i was running boss and getting only 1 error... the error was stating my: - CBBE skin texture V2 V3 plus Thepal and UNP compatible - Female Face skin v1_8 rev1 Fuller Lips and more character PATCH and -DIMONIZED UNP female body - UNP BASE Main body V1dot2 were conflicting or some kind of a error report or even incompatibility report, cannot remember exact language used. Which was the first i ever seen of it and i was sure back when i installed those to they were working fine as they were intended to mesh with each other. However once i got BOSS working that lone Error is not found anywhere now. (was the only text in the BOSS report when broke).... so not sure if it was just BOSS being broken at the time. figured it worth mentioning, trying to cover as many bases i can with my limited knowledge and experience. thanks again! I appreciate any input and leads on this issue! I would love to get this wrapped up so i can finish my game and try out that dawngaurd dlc... seen some great werewolf mods i would love to try with it.
  4. ok i edited it, thanks for letting me know Ripple, figured i would just give the whole link not knowing what would be helpful to see a possible problem. Lot of those warning or errors i am not really sure if it is simply because my mods are not updated, could be the problem maybe conflicting with any skyrim update, but i did not see any direct update to effect them because i do not have Dawn Guard or Dragonborn. I am hesitant to begin updating mods because i am not sure if that will just make matter worse atm... lot of the big mods of mine and even some small seem to be focused around the 2 DLC, which i dont have yet. If the possibility for my crashes within 10minutes of playing are because i need dawnguard and/or dragonborn i would be totally down purchasing that just to get it going. but like i said, i have no clue at this point. two things do have me curious, that update.esm and the missing spike.esm from Hothtroopers armor mods do stand out to me. I have no spike.esm because that must be a new edition to his mod, perhaps it is something a update skyrim needs? I feel completely overwhelmed and ignorant on a lot of this because i have mistakenly not kept up with skyrim updates so feeling fairly lost on a lot of this lol. if anyone has some recommendations or if georgiegril is still visiting this thread, i would greatly appreciate any tips or knowledge on some of these new factors i am completely lost on. Btw Georgiegril, i tried your advice and lowered my advanced settings from high to medium, the screen freeze did lessen but still occurred, where say it would be a screen freeze every 2-3 minutes, it is now somewhere around 5-7 minutes. Crashing still happens (not sure if these are considered crashes, the program just closes with no message or anything not even a sound) the same but i would say it takes now an extra 10 or so minutes. the screen freezes have got to be a memory issue in some way and is just a noticeable repeating error causing the crash. Another observation i am starting to notice is when i point my camera in the direction of a light source, in this instance at a candle in the tavern, i am noticing an odd screen flash. It is fairly subtle but if you start looking for it you can see the lighting going from a darker setting to a lighter one, as if the candle flicker is being taken into account but it is being exploded to affect my whole screen, not sure if that is a skyrim engine process or not.
  5. yea sorry, been trying to get all my skyrim stuff up and running again, BOSS installer was failing to update, just got it working now. I am surprised how updated the features are. here is the link. I am guessing this is what you asked for at least. as for my computer specs, had my buddy remind me where to find them. this si th read me, let me know if this was what you asked for or if it is something else.
  6. thank you very much! I would not really understand what i am reading in terms of my prefs.ini and such, but i do know for some mods i altered an ini file for skyrim however that was way back playing the game and it never affected my gameplay. I remember when i started moding with the game (even before) and it would only crash every once a day or so (buddy of mine just started playing and has no mods and this happens to him) i remember skyrim being weird like that, prob cuz its limited to 4gigs (WHY?!?! lol). By the time i stoped playing i remember my crashes may have become a bit more frequent, maybe every 2 -3 hours? probably far longer then that though. However i was aware to the fact i had to stop adding mods (nexus is one hell of a drug yo) and i did begin cleaning out some redundant mods, anything i kept rellay was something i felt enchanced my game on missing aspects. my skyrim options are as follows: I am very limited on computers so not really sure what" GPU and CPU temps in game" are or where to look. I know what CPU is but not an ingame version of that. Buddy of mine built this computer for me and it runs better then what i have seen of computers running in the 3-4 thousand range, I am able to play 3-4 high end games at same time without experincing much of any lag. Not that i do that but i have done it in the past just to "rev the engine" so to speak. I be happy to share my computer specs with ya, just need to try and remember how i do that, as for BOSS files i should be able to do that, i only hate using that thing cuz it puts my loadorders in crap places and i always need to change it ... problem is now i dont really remember which load order was proper anymore... it all seemed the same since last i used nexus but i still played around with it non the less to try some thing out to test my game issues. thanks again for your assistance on this! I really was hoping to get back into the game.
  7. Hello, So I have been away from the game since probably mounted combat, i have updated my SKSE and NMM. Have not updated any of my mods but was forced to update skyrim to get SKSE working. Now i cant remember if this happened to me when i was playing (fairly sure it was not to this degree) but it seem within 5-10 minutes my game will always crash, i could be standing still in a tavern and this will happen. Now i have noticed my game will freeze for a second or two about every 30 seconds to a minute. It all seems to be happening like timework also, which leads me to believe a mod is skiping or conflciting maybe? but i am not experienced enough in moding to really break it down and read any more complex signs then this (or reading code). I do feel it has to be a graphical mod or lighting causing this though, but that is just my feeling no real idea. I also suspect a memory issue? I do still sort of remember the importance of loadorders, .esp's at the top of list you wish to be run first but those below may override, bottom is best to ensure it takes affect. I have tried playing around with my loadorder how i remember with what worked but it am just going off vague memory. some big mods i suspect might be at the root, any other i leave out would be small mods like armors, weapons, or mods i have used from day 1 and never conflicted because they are all seperate in direction on what they affect. My "large mods" which i suspect. encase this helps. If anyone has some info on what might be causing my issue i would greatly appreciate any advice, and/or information! Thank you!
  8. ouch, no one? Damn, this bug is worse than I thought lol.
  9. Does setstage even work if I do not have the quest active in my journal? My knowledge of the console commands is extremely basic, so if anyone can help me understand this issue I would be truly grateful.
  10. It would seem every time I am about to finish the quest "Under Saarthal" (part of the College of Winterhold questline) and begin Hitting the Books, I am only able to finish Under Saarthal but the next quest will not activate; which would be Hitting the Books. When I go to speak with the Archmage and tell him about the discovery in Saarthal I receive the reward for finishing that quest but the next quest seemed bugged for me, because as I understand it... Hitting the Books should automatically update after being told to go speak with Urag gro-Shub. I tried using the setstage commands i know but I cannot or do not know how to "force start" the quest I know should already be unlocked for me at this point. Does anyone have any ideas how to correct this?
  11. It's the new 1.6 patch I think. I know of no way to correct it besides deactivating mods that relate to animations (or so I am told) but I honestly dont care to do that. I would think there should eventually be a hot patch correcting this broken update.
  12. This is happening to me too. They need to fix this ASAP, I hate pointless updates that do nothing but mess a system up.
  13. Wow, ok... Talk about randomly bizarre, my scrolling is working again?! I'm not complaining or nothing, totally happy its fixed.... but idk what exactly fixed it lmao. I think maybe I needed to load out of the instance I was in (my house) and go back in and that might have refreshed the game of the many solutions you offered me, Tidus44. So thank you very much for your help in all this, I extremely appreciate it!
  14. I just tried something out, something I cant believe I did not think to do sooner. Because my Skyrim is off Steam I thought to try my other game I use off this launcher, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, I wanted to see if the scrolling is the same error as Skyrim... I would seem, its not. Scrolling in Sins works for and just as it should, so it would appear this is strictly a Skyrim issue for some reason. Not sure if that sheds light on anything but I personally find it weird lol.
  15. Sorry, should have previously stated what my mouse is. It's a sorta old razor Diamondback 3G, I have a program for it and stuff but when I checked it the scrolling option it worked fine, like I said... Scrolling works everywhere expect in Steam window Launcher and Skyrim. Device Manger labels it as "HID-Compliant Mouse" for my Razor. My computer is Windows 7 I tried a old HP mouse and it did not seem to work at all. Maybe my Razor software has something to do with that? Also, I have only 1 port for that old mouse and I had to remove my keyboard in order to actually utilize that old HP mouse. I believe that 1 port is meant for either keyboard or mouse because half of the port is purple while the other half green.
  16. Dang, still nothing. I tried the method with the 360 controller, but that did not seem to work... though I hoped it would lol, of course. My mouse driver was said to be working, so I suppose that is not it. I also did the verify cache but that did not seem to do it either. :(
  17. Thank you for your reply! 1) Controller pad? Like a alternate mouse such as those sticks for flying games? No, I have not in that case. 2) I see "360 controller" option checked (I asume the X in that box means that at least). 3) I have not done any recent tinkering with my mouse driver as far as I am aware of. However, I do recall a Windows Update not to long ago and could have happened within the time frame of my scrolling issue. 4) I personally have done no .ini changes in a long while. The mods I downloaded/installed this month I do not believe changed the .ini but The modder mya hahve left it out of the descriptions. Just for reference, here are those few mods: "Bornagain skyrim steel armor" "Medieval Sword -Oakeshott Type XVIa-" "Lanterns of Skyrim - Bridges" - Updated "Sustained Spells" "Omegared99 - Armor Compilation" "JaySuS Swords" - Updated "Housecarl Lineage" - Downloaded to try it out, but had to uninstall it due to conflicts with another mod. "Dragonbone armor colour detail" - Had this mod for awhile but had to fresh install it for the update to work properly. Now as far as those mods go, I dont remember the scrolling issue occurring after their installation. However, "Bornagain skyrim steel armor" is the mod I originally thought may have done it because it was the most recent download since I first noticed this issue. Like I said though, when I uninstalled it... The scrolling issue remained. 5) As far as I can see the only control button in any menu related to scrolling is "f". I never changed it before and as far as I know... its the default setting. 6) I'm afraid I do not know what that is or how its down, from what I can tell all my game updates on steam happen automatically. 7) I have never played with a mod that alters map zoom or anything in that general area... I left them alone mainly because I always enjoyed the vanilla map as is haha. In my opinion from all those option you gave me to look into, I feel that "Windows Update" one might be the issue. This might be my imagination, but I feel like when my Windows Update installed before turning it off I could swear playing Skyrim the next day and having this issue. Though I know of no way to be sure of this, if you know of one I would love to look into it. My computer skills are fairly limited I'm afraid. Once more, thank you so much for your reply... I appreciate it.
  18. Hello, thanks for checking this out in advanced, I would appreciate any help on this issue. Alright, so I have been playing Skyrim for quite some time now (got it at launch) and I have always been able to use my mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of my first and third person modes. However recently this week, I have been unable to do so and cannot seem to figure out why. At first I thought it was a mod I downloaded but I had only downloaded 1 mod since I first started having a problem and that was a steel armor retexture, when I turned off that mod... I still have the problem. I am also unable to scroll through my quick slots menu (the tab when you press Q, of course), I am just totally at a loss why this has happened so randomly. I mouse scroll works fine on any average website so I do not believe its any sort of hardware issue on my end. One thing I noticed is I cannot scroll in my Steam Launcher if I was to read a article or game description through the Steam Launcher, not sure if that i related but I could swear I was never able to scroll through the Steam Launcher... Like I said, I am totally at a loss. If anyone here has ideas / a solution on this issue, I would be most grateful. (btw, "f" key still works but that puts me strictly in a set third-person mode and unable to adjust the camera zoom and such... which I always love to play around with.)
