  1. @nihlanth - With a single 4gb 670 you get stuttering? I want to know if only one single card can power up those textures - for at least 30 fps and without stutter. But I guess I will select the best re-textures and optimize them afterwards for the best gameplay. @drafzzz - Yes, that's why I wanted to know actual facts from people that pushed the limits of their cards and not settled with settings of low quality. @QT31415 - I know what's coming and that's why I want to buy the best graphics card for my money. But at launch new games are still plagued with console graphics level, and not to mention the optimization level that will make any of these games, until the nextgen games come, to run pretty well on current gpu's. See the case of the 2nd Crysis at launch the released it with low level textures and afterwards they launched the hi-res textures pack. Games without modding will run well one any middle to highend GPU, but we here are talking about pushing the envelope and modding them. :D
  2. drafzzz -Thank for your input man, didn't intended to offend anyone with older cards or start a discussion amd vs nvidia cards- just wanted to know for sure if I mod Skyrim with lots of mods if I will be okay with a 2gb gtx 670. Things have changed for me and sadly not for the best and I will have to choose between similar priced Gigabyte 4gb the one that is tri-slot, MSI 670 TwinFrozr IV Power OC 2GB or EVGA 670 2GB FTW+.
  3. worldofscott - Newer boards have problems but in my experience and a whole lot from the others, AMD boards have more problems with games, drivers -even if they have a max. fps a bit higher than nvidia's cards, also I want to benefit from PhysX as I said before, run with cuda acceleration 1080p high bitrate videos and msaa. Another fact for me is that I don't believe in SLI/CF , I prefer a single powerful gpu with factory oc and good cooling potential, than to run 2 or more cards in the system for a 1080p resolution. Also games have problems with scaling the performance of multi cards. I prefer to buy the best single gpu solution with the money I have @ the moment of buying...That's my philosophy, may be right, may be wrong but some are already proven facts by people with lots of expertise.
  4. DualGPU solutions draw so much power and for so little benefit- 6950 are a generation behind, and that 670 is practically a 680 that has nearly the same performance of the other (+5-8 fps for amd) but with big advantages like physX, CUDA, MSAA, stability and less os problems. I'm in no way a fanboy of neither AMD nor nVIDIA, heck for the 1st time I have switched from AMD to Intel for my 5th pc and I have had also AMD gpu cards - 4870 and a 6850 toxic edition - both have died before their time - so no more AMD for me. Don't really realize why people choose cf/sli with older generation boards when the present single gpus solutions are so powerful and less susceptible to problems in games....
  5. It is a well-known fact due to bad console port and also demanding game's graphics that every gta title has pushed the limits of the cpu and gpu's of that time. So GTA V I really don't think that it will have less of requirements and a better optimization would be a first. I've made my mind already by your help, lots of reading and comparing benchmarks to buy a single gpu from nvidia - EVGA 670 FTW+ 4GB
  6. Els236 - That's the kind of list I'm talking about. GG Wrye Bash! I will be modding my Skyrim at least with that much of mods -since they are too freakin' cool to ignore them! Thank a lot for your input! PsYchotic666Joker - Yeah, I think that by buying at the end of 2012 a GPU with less than 3 gb of VRAM will be totally insane..so my mind is changed, I will buy a 4gb gtx 670, even if it's @ stock core frequency. Thanks a lot guys, you really helped me with this!
  7. Well I guess if I could stick to a 2gb 670 oc variant -maybe the MSI Twin Frozr IV Power Oc, that one has a pretty decent factory oc. Thanks a lot for your replies.
  8. You have a pretty beast of a rig right there. 145 Mhz on the core clock seems to be a fair decent oc, didn't know that you could reach those values, did you have to crank up the voltage?
  9. That's the kind of answer I was looking/hoping for. If that is the case then I will be totally safe with a oc'ed version of a 670.(not sure of another game like GTA V thou). Can you specify what setup are you using? Thanks a lot for your reply!
  10. Don't want dual gpu solution, just one single card that's powerful enough to handle as many mods as I could throw at it. Maybe I've asked in the wrong place, or the wrong people - but I had in mind that nexus forums is the place where people actually use lots of mods. You have a 1 gb mid-range gpu, so sincerely how many mods are you using ?
  11. I'm gonna buy this x-mas a new gpu since my old toxic 6850 died when installed with my i5 3570k, 8gb ram -and want to buy something that can handle lots of mods for Skyrim without CTD's and stuttering @ 1680x1050 -and soon with fullhd resolution. Can someone confirm if buying a video card with more than 2gb vram can actually make a difference? I'm gonna buy and Asus DCU II 670 GTX with 4gb (but reference) vs a TOP 2GB one....Which should I choose ?
