  1. In response to post #63361216. Abolishing internet software ownership laws won't happen in theory, but it just might in practice. Think about it, people are(usually unjustly) starting to hate corporations and "Big Tech" companies, eventually people will start replacing these programs with freeware. I mean, why photoshop when you can gimp? Why FO4 when you can create a new game with that engine, etc. It's happening on a microscale with people replacing stuff, as previously mentioned, why won't it happen on a macro scale? I don't care to fact check this, but isn't android open source? That's a huge example of widely used software on the market actually being free to use!
  2. God if you god that many great mods this year... imagine next year. MORE ACHIVEMENTS!
  3. Greetings folks, today I was playing The Witcher 1, and during the prologue Eskel and me had a conversation about the trial of grasses, and of course, I instantly thought, "I need to make that a thing in Skyrim!" I have some pretty good CK experience making little, basic things such as companions, items, spells, effects and all of those basic things. However, I never really touched scripting, which I soon realized might help a bit(lot) in making this mod. I want to make a build for a witcher-esque character but I couldn't really see a mod to implement the actual "becoming a witcher" bit. The mod seemed relatively simple so I got into the CK and started working. Then I remembered that I need to make the script. I know how to program, but not in papyrus, and not for Skyrim, and not in the CK. I took a look at the vampirism effect and I think I want to do something similar to that. You're supposed to change into a parallel race. So if you're an imperial, you will become a "imperial hunter" as I'm putting it. Does anyone have any know how I could make that sort of script?
  4. Greetings everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this post. I was fooling around NV doing an AWOP(a World of Pain) playthrough with solid project, and Project Nevada in my ongoing wait for the release of Fallout: New California, when I started to listen to the enclave radio from that quest mod. Then an idea hit me while I was reflecting on Fallout's radio system and listening to a podcast. Would it technically be possible to create a radio station and have it communicate with a server somewhere on the cloud, and get its pool of audio to play from there? I am picturing an in game station that, once installed gets things added to it as time passes. I have some minimal experience writing back end, server side code so that isn't a huge issue, the programming aspect will likely just take trial and error but I'm curious if the technology would even allow a modder to do that in FO4, and how.
  5. No copyright wouldn't be an issue beth allows this stuff to happen. We couldn't just rip assets though sadly D:
  6. Even though Nuka World is out I could make you guys a mod where raiders are friendly to you if you want...
  7. So I bought FO4 the other day with the intention to mod it and without boring you with the details I am trying to get a .swf script to run on a terminal the same was it would with a holotape. You open it and immediately it starts running the script.
  8. Greetings, everyone! So today I bought FO4 on PC during the sale with the intention to make some mods. I started brainstorming some ideas and while playing the grognak game I got an idea. Why not make a Holotape game? But problem is... I've no clue where to start. When you make a weapon you change the mesh, texture, balance the stats and voila. That's all you needed to do but these games are a lot more open ended. If anybody knows anything, or has taken a shot at this I would appreciate any knowledge before I go poking about.
  9. Hello, Everyone So I was playing Armageddon MUD (Link Below) and I am role playing a bounty hunter. This is really fun and something I really like is going up to players and having them hire me to kill another player and return with the head. I can pretty much kill a player and rip off their heads only to give it to the contractor as proof of the kill. I am not asking for that entire system but would it be alot to ask for the first part of the system? Just run a script to open a dialogue box upon attempting to loot an enemy with an option like "Behead" and have their head get ripped off and placed in your inventory. ARMAGEDDON LINK Armageddon.org
  10. Ok you say it's POSSIBLE but that's about as likely as you being related to Queen Elizabeth. I would rather have it that you claim the throne with YOUR dragon blood and not the whole i'm a Septim thing.
  11. The Book Mod Project Book _________________________ Hello, Everyone and welcome to project book. Now while i think we all agree the journal of morrowind was immersive, and felt real, the books of Skyrim defeat the books of the past by tenfold. However how many of us can say we read ALL the books? and how many of us can say we want more? If you, like I can't because quite frankly most of the books were BORING then welcome to project book! What is Project Book?: In it's simplest form it is a book mod. however unlike other book mods YOU can be the writer! how you ask? Write a story, send it to my Gmail address, (see below) and if i like it i will release it in that months bundle of books. If we don't have at least four or five books i will write some to fill that quota. How does the system work?: Very simply. I take the literature you submit then convert that into Skyrim with a custom cover texture, and images in the book! You can then pick them up in the book store of Riverwood. We will release a monthly .ESP update that includes all the new books! Simply replace the esp file with the new one and your set! What type of books?: Generally we want short stories. And when i say short story i mean 5-30k words long. A quick way to get a book rejected is to write about the Dovahkiin of Skyrim because: SPOILER ALERT: In some playthrougs the PC might not be Dragonborn, and even if he is he probably didn't do what you wrote about. So in general keep it to writing about lore friendly characters that you make up! Stay away from already in game characters PLEASE! How can i help?: Good question! I obviously can't write four 20k word stories in a month with my schedule at least so if other budding writers help me it would be appreciated! If you want to include custom textures for your books or illustrations for inside the book that you want me to put in I can do that. Other then that if anyone wants to voice act a book merchant for me and send me some lines I can chuck those in just fine! as for now he will just be a generic voiced Breton. Contact Details: If you want to help start the project or submit your work contact me here at [email protected]
  12. W Yes they do. Every body that is the reason bosmeri warriors starve themselves before big fights because they need to eat every body. And you are supposed to EAT meat not AVOID it.
  13. Vegetables cannot be consumed by the adherent to the pact themselves. But say i had a nord friend i could harvest fruits and vegetables outside valenwood for him. The no harvesting wood/plants only applies to valenwood but only eat meat applies everywhere.
  14. Of course we haven't seen green pact traditionalists in MW Oblivion or skyrim! All the wood elves are apostates most of the traditionalists live in valenwood. And they can destroy plants in other provinces without breaking the pact.
  15. I as someone who still plays TES: II loves it. Sadly modding DF was always hard and still is. I suspect we will see more action with the launch of Daggerfall Unity. Modding normal daggerfall is basically creating a hack. We made some cool s#*! in the 90s don't get me wrong but all those mods you see on UESP are hacked versions of the vannilla files. I would only advise someone use the mods that come with DFSetup. Try experimenting with other ones but keep a backup. Here is a pretty comprehensive list of all DF mods, tweaks, etc. I have played with all of the unnoficial patches, and mods so i know those work. If anyone reads this try andyfall and thank me later. http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
  16. Well i say do an icepick grip down. Gravity is in your favor and you could penetrate through any thick clothing the target may have
  17. Skyrim Unbound... And maybe a NPC. Sounds easy enough. I could make a NPC with some Dragonborn-y features. Here is my idea: Armour- Studded Armor Iron Helm Iron Boots Iron Gauntlets Shouts- All Of Them Name: Beorn Race: Nord Class: Warrior Sound good?
  18. I think i could make a mod like this. Albeit it would take time to actually write a book that long, and adding all the weaknesses to the enemies. I could make everything tougher but if you know it's weakness you can f*#@ it up. So trolls are 10x as tough and they regen faster but fire kills them nearly immediately. Apply that sort of thing to every creature. Any other ideas?
  19. In general the answer is just no. You are a particularly powerful human but we still see in game that you die and go to the afterlife like all the other NPCs
  20. Hello, Everyone. I have been watching some videos from a few YouTube channels about historical armor, weapons, etc. And i wanted to start a "realistic playthrough". I started to search and found no mods to truly implement a "realistic" weapon/Armour ratio. But i got the idea to change how effective armor and weapons are. So armor would protect you way more to the point where leather can totally stop swords, and arrows. but anything higher then a sword (axe, mace, all two handed weapons) would be able to penetrate the Armour. and then a unarmored foe would die extremely quickly if hit by a sword (1-2 strikes). So essentially swords kill s#*! but suck against Armour. Axes and higher do less damage then a sword then against unarmored foes, but has such high Armour penetration it would break through Armour better. The way i see this done would be to make sure swords and great swords do a lot of damage but have no Armour penetration. Meanwhile axes and higher do less damage then a sword at face value but have higher Armour penetration so they wind up doing more damage against armored foes. Also Armour should be more effective in general so the system works. But this wouldn't really work alone considering how everyone has heavy Armour in skyrim. So i may just be getting greedy but i think changing the leveled lists so being unarmored is more common would fix this. Of course leave bandit chiefs, Nobles, etc. But the peasants shouldn't wear full plate if that makes sense. I have no clue if anything i said makes sense. I posted this while i am extremely tired and on my phone (i suck at typing with my phone) so please spare me grammar Nazis. I realize after re reading this is probably to much work for such a simple effect but i would love to see this implemented. If it isn't too much work and you try to make this you have my thanks.
  21. That is a ridiculous statement. In the lore Talos is a confirmed God
  22. Akatosh is NOT Lorkan. Could you link me where you heard that?
  23. Ok, lets start from the beginning. In tabletop games (specifically DnD) i always created my characters based off my last character. My first character would die and then i would create a new character who is the son or grandson of that character continuing the lineage. What i am looking for is a mod which upon death forces you to become your child. And if you don't have one...f*#@ idk make s#*! up! I would also like to see this effect happen for NPCs if they die a randomly generated character of the same race appears with there surname and fills in the job. So if a blacksmith dies a new one comes who is the descendant. This would make skyrim feel as though you're not the only family that actually moves forward in time.
