  1. Hello,

Si i recently made a small retexture on the dragonplate helmet and want to add it as a separate armor. Rest of the armor worked fine, new name, weight slider, etc but for some reason the helmet always seems to be quite smaller than its original version O.o Now i made a duplicate of theArmorAddon of the Dragonplate Helmet and just changed the following.

-Changed the biped model from DragonboneHelmet2_1.nif to genericHelmet2_0 (and the female one accordingly) because from what i saw i need to select the _0 value for the weight slider to work.

-Selected the new WorldModel to match the new one

-Linked the armor with the new armoraddon

But unfortunately this is the result i end up with this

The left one is the original helmet, the right one is the one i am trying to add, i am trying to make it work even with a simple renamed version of the helmet thats why its not changed other than shape.
Now the example in the image is with relative small clipping of nose and hair (beard is normal to clip in the normal version also) but the orc version has almost all his forehead clipping and the orc version has just the usual 4 nifs for that and i still get that issue.

Regarding the nif files i noticed that the dragonplate has 2 different version of the normal male helmet or something, there is

    dragonbonehelmet_0

    âdragonbonehelmet_1
    âdragonbonehelmet2_0
    âdragonbonehelmet2_1

Why so many versions for just the male? Btw i tried either combo and it still doesn't work. Has anybody else encountered that issue? What could be the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT : Interestingly enough i opened all the versions of the human helmet mesh and NONE of them have that "bent metal nose" feature. Could that mean that the Unofficial Skyrim patch fixed the dragonplate helmet and since mine has a different name it appears like the vanilla one? Could the original be so badly made? O.o

UPDATE : Yes, i was right, managed to find the fixed version here and the helmet works like a charm, in case anybody is working using that helmet i hope this helped you :)

  2. Oh, hey, that's my tutorial  Glad to see people still refer to it (and yes I know its outdated and no I'm not updating it at this point).

The easiest and fastest way to merge the two helmets, imo, would be using Outfit Studio. Import both nifs and start with using the mask tool and deleting verts on overlapping parts until it looks the way you want, most likely switching between the two shapes as you go along. Then simply export your new nif.

Oh hello Hanaisse! First of all thnx for the great tutorials! Really helped me out even with texturing and creation kit work! :D Problem is if i do it in the outfit studio the result is pretty atrocious xD resulting in many open vertex points and gaps in the armor, so i did the following

    1. Delete BSLighting on both nif files of the helmets but not touch the user version 1 and 2

    2. Import both helmets in Outfit Studio and export them as OBJ

    3. Open the helmets in Blender 2.8. (just the helmet appears without any other extra bones n stuff) and edit the mesh {i am here, hopefully this process was ok}

    4. Continue following your tutorial

    5. Profit?

    Is that ok?

  3. Hello everyone!

I am trying to unify two helmets intro one, the dragonplate helmet with the nordic carved helmet. Pretty much like this in a quick (broken) sketch :

Can this process be done solely in outfit studio or Nifskope? like this or this

Most tutorials out there are quite outdated so what is the most correct approach i could take to get this result?

Can i export it and correctly load it to Blender 2.8? If yes how?

So far this tutorial has been the most helpful but still outdated.

    Thanks in advance :)

  4. I've no great advice to offer... I struggle with textures!

... all I'll say is that I'd wear that armour if I was playing the game... looks great!

Thank you very much, i intend on sharing it once i am done but since i am a complete beginner at this and plan on editing the mesh also, it will take quite some time :/

  5.

    1) Your textures need to be from the same source so that they have the same color values.
    2) The meshes must have the same "Environmental" mapping + same "Specular Color" & "Specular Strenght" & "Glossiness".
    3) Both meshes must have the same "Vertex Colors".
    * Those are in general what affects the look/color of a mesh.

Thank you for the reply! For now since i am trying to wrap my head around only the textures so far what do you mean with nr 1? How can they be from the same source and how can i find the correct color value? I managed to make all the body parts looks the same using the same RGB values but the head always looks a bit of (like in the picture)

  6. Hello!

I am trying to make my first mod and after a lot of time tweaking stuff around i managed to correctly texture stuff. Now my problem is the following, i am trying to get the exact same color of the Dragonplate Helmet over to the Nordic Carved armor to make them look like a set, here is my closest result so far :

How can i manage to make the 2 metal textures look exactly the same? Can this be managed just by adjusting the color or is there more to it? The way i am doing it in GIMP is by adding another multiply layer and paint over the metal parts, so far the following RGB values seemed to work good (44,47.8,44.9)

Thank you for your time everyone :D

  7. Hello everyone!

I recently decided to start some armor bashing to create some of my own armors but i have found it extremely difficult to find a clear guide on how to adjust an armor in Blender. Basically the issues were :

    - Latest version of Nifskope doesn't have import/export

    - The version of Nifskope that has import/export is 1.1.3 but that doesn't support the special edition so i need to export the armors from the vanila version
    - Blender nif tools are absolutely horrible and restrict you to an ancient blender version

So pretty much i noticed that if i export armors from Nifskope 1.1.3 i can open them directly as obj in Blender 2.8, i didn't even have to do the steps of changing user version 1 and 2 or remove the BSlightin. Is that a correct way to work?

Could you please recommend a functional pipeline to edit armors nowadays? :D

Thank you for your time everyone!

  8. Okay ladies and gentelman what i propose if someone can manage such a thing is to make a complete armor set of Ysgramor! I know it will be tough to do im sure but just look at his statue or even look at him in the loading screen the armor is sooooo epic!

We got the axe, we got the shield now we need the armor am i right?, although if it were possible you wouldnt be able to use the axe and shield together :P being the axe is 2h but that could be changed 2!!!!! :P so what do ya guys say?

I agree. I have always hated this fact about ES games that there are almost none legendary items. The whole goddam world is filled with more legends than you can even imagine but is there any item that looks little special than any other sword or armor you can buy? Maybe couple but thats it!

Well anyways I have already started to work on the helmet. These are just small things I have done, the helmet for example has had complete re-design.

I am having little problems with textures because i am new to the modding but with a help of my friend I have made lot of progress.

Thats amazing my friend! Keep up the good work! and is that THORS HAMMER!!! haha but anyways keep me posted this could be something amazing!

That's exactly what i wanted to ask too! :D I am so happy that i have seen someone making Ysgramors armor... man THATS GREAT! :D I wish you good luck completing it! Cant wait to wear it o_O

  9. Holy crap...that looks like a modeler's nightmare. I don't model, so I can't really gauge difficulty, but there's a lot going on there...

yeah but... its awesome isnt it ? :D i mean you have to work for all the good things in your life... just like this armor xD lol

  10. Hello people!!! :D

So i was wondering... is there anyone capable of doing this masterpiece... ? (more detailed image of armor) http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/images/conceptArt/013008_CA01.jpg

Engra is a warhammer character with the coolest armor i have ever seen in my life... i always wanted to use it in Oblivion... is anyone willing to make it, and the sword? :D

I think you will be doing us all a great favor! :)
