H.P. Lovecraft and his imitators such as Clark Ashton Smith or Lord Dunsavy are great. Tim Curran writes some great extreme dark fantasy/horror, as does Charlee Jacob. Mind, those last two are not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach!

From what I read elsewhere, these were uncommon, isolated incidents, but no less disturbing for that. A few years ago, I read something about employers not believing applicants if they said they didn't use social media, and so I got a Facebook. But, I almost never post in it, and what I do post is never anything I wouldn't want a boss or potential boss to see. Most of my personal stuff is on a friends-locked Livejournal.

C-64, followed by Amiga. I think the Amiga did everything the PC could do, only better, and only died due to poor marketing. First games I played were Ultima III (never got into the whole series, though) the Might and Magic Games, the Dungeons and Dragons games, and a few others. When I swapped to Amiga, I played Dungeon Master (great game, but I was fail at playing it), the Eye of the Beholder games (fared much better) and some other good ones.
I can still remember typing "LOAD *,8" or something like that to run my C64 programs... and we had to do that walking uphill both ways, in the snow, and we liked it! :P
Best of all, I played Wasteland. This game was the spiritual grandfather of the Fallout series. :D

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
I have to wonder what else people aren't learning in school from at least 1990s on.

I had a reply, but someone tells me it is breaking copyright even for private use,so lets not take chances here.

This is excellent. Sounds like you have a good idea of what realism enhancing things to include--and not to include. If my toon had to run for the privy after some bad food or see a healer after using the Animated Prostitution Mod a few too many times, it would be going too far :D When I finally get Skyrim (RL priorities make it impossible right now) after I've had a chance to check the vanilla game out, this will be on my list of mods.
-
So, the issues of copyright are why, say, I could copy (by copy, I mean completely redraw, testure, and mesh, completely by my own hand, using the CK, NifScope, Blender, etc.) a piece of armor from WoW, and it would be okay for a mod, but just grabbing the meshes and textures from WoW and sticking them in a mod for use in, say, Skyrim, would be bad? It makes sense to me now, if I have it right, that is.

Episode #4 is available !
The video has some problem, Solicitating the flashes at the beginning, I have not found where the problem is, offsets of sounds. And of course the duration of the video, I grant you, two minutes of video is very short but are Patch, moin are Fail.
So I think there will be more of Skyfail every 2 weeks but see 3 weeks or more, for you offer a quality video, funny, nice and relaxing to watch rather than video with little fail.
:)
Yo dawg, i hear you like running, so here's a running cat to run on while it runs! That was my favorite clip so far. these are cool, but yeah, do cut back on the Memebase/ /b/ stuff. The videos are awesome on their own.

I've been playing it since release. It's pretty good, if a bit monotonous at times. Only real criticism I have that can be considered a detracting factor is that the game is entirely linear. It would have been so much better if they made procedurally generated dungeons and just kept the puzzles scripted.
This is my issue with it as well. Should of been randomly generated. I think there is a map maker coming out though.
The devs said that it was random at first, but I think the puzzles were a problem and they changed it to the hand crafted style.
Yes, there will be a map editor and the developers also said that they are looking into the randomly generated dungeons thing.
the map editor thing would be great.

Maybe not, since it might be too old school difficult for most people. But I'm wondering if anyone's played it. The reviews are mostly positive, and I might be picking it up for myself once I have the money. I played dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder, and Legend of Grimrock is pretty similar, with modern graphics.
If you're looking for a game with no hand-holding, that is actually challenging, though, give it a shot.

I did 78.62 %. Not as up on it as I could be, but considering the last time I studied this was 30 years ago in high school, not too bad, I guess.

I'm not sure of Steam's TOS regarding sex, nudity etc. in mods but if there's anything in the TOS that forbids it, that could be one reason. As to the other way around, I imagine there's people who don't like Nexus/have been banned/find it easier or whatever. I don't have an answer for #3, alas.
I do think in regards to #2, yeah, I imagine so, as it would be more downloads for them.

I get migraines on occasion. If you haven't already tried it, caffeine and chocolate are helpful. Watch your precursors. for me, it's either a pressure, imaginary smells, or sometimes a bad sneezing fit oddly enough. I get mine over my right eye, sometimes the left. Once it kicks in, all I can do is take something, lie down, and pull the blankets up.

Definition is here
Decided to read the linked article. Seemed fairly objective, until I got to this line:
Social Darwinism has proven to be a false and dangerous philosophy.Guess the article isn't very objective at all. A bit of research revealed why: Link
As for social Darwinism itself:
There's obviously a lot of confusion about exactly what social Darwinism is. Regardless, I'd say it's been far too often mis-attributed with and abused by certain movements. Especially when those movements either attempt to tarnish Darwin's evolutionary theory or use it to justify their own racist ideology.
I think I'd best leave it at that.
My own definition, the link aside, is that there are people who believe "Screw you if you can't take care of yourself. If you're poor, get un-poor or die. You are weak, so die and make room for more of the strong." To me, mentality is a convenient excuse to not have to help anyone else, ever, for any reason.
In my own opinion, I think there's some political candidates who believe this way, but know it would cost them votes, so they couch it in nicer terms. I'm going to stop there, though.
-
So, in a recent speech President Obama mentioned 'Social Darwinism'. His speech aside, do you feel such a thing exists? Why or why not? Do you subscribe to these beliefs? Why or why not?

Discuss. I think it does exist, and I think some people would like very much to see it implemented in our own society. I myself think we are better than that, and have the capacity to have compassion and help those in need, and that if we all helped each other out the world would be a better place.

I lived in Florida for almost 3 years, and went through several hurricanes. Wilma was the last straw, and I went back to Denver :D

Check here, there is a lot to give away. You can't like or use them all eh ;).
Use ALL the things! :D
Seriously, though. I usually of with something that does no use for my chosen profession, or is cursed.

Same as me. Must be for some settings in Firefox, or something. With Internet Explorer, it downloads without problems.

Yeah, my partner told me I needed IE 9 after I posted this. Thanks for answering though :)

I'm using Firefox, don't know if that matters. Have tried to download several mods, including Westly's head mods and Cragonmoor (player home). the link you click on the mod description just goes to a screenful of ASCII gibberish. Reporting the problem does nothing. Does anyone know of alternate links, or do they work for you? Here's links:

seyda neen, simply because its filled with quests and stuff to the brim...
balmora for its tranquil architecture and simple layout, also loved the river...
vivec is ugly as hell and the telvanni just irritate me :D
the ash lands of ald ruhn i avoid wherever i can...
I've heard others say the same :D
I was torn between Ald Ruhn and Balmora, I love both of them. I finally went with Ald ruhn, as I enjoyed the quests there more.

I am working my way through Fallout 3, though I'm currently taking a break from it.
Tried Torchlight, didn't get into it, nro the rest, but thanks for the input.
I am going to reinstall Morrowind and add some mods and see how that goes :) Also, I'm going to give Skyrim a go. Worst that will happen if I hold on to it until I have a better rig.
-
Actually, Skyrim runs well with a duo core processor (especially after patch 1.3 I believe where they added additional duo core support). What is your cpu clocked at and what is the video card? If you can run Oblivion fairly well you should be able to run Skyrim on mid/lower mid settings I would think.
well, I just did that Can You run It thing, and my laptop passes on everything but the processor, which is a tad slow. But it also tells me I cant run Fallout 3, Oblivion, or Wow, all of which do decently with a decent framerate on low to medium settings. So I might be able to do it after all. I'll give it a go and see.
-
Well, I don't have Skyrim yet, but I think all the usual troubleshooting applies here. Is it a video card that is supported? New is great, but do tell us what you have. What kind of processor, etc. do you have? That's all I have, but someone more experienced could further advise you.
-
so what about your current PC can't play Skyrim (while it still plays Oblivion)
Slow processor (you don't want to know) and a not so good video card (looks decent for Oblivion, but I'm pretty sure it would cark up and die if I tried Skyrim on it.) With Skyrim preferring a quad core processor, I'm afraid to try. I don't want to pay a ton of money for something that might not work, so I'm just going to have to wait until I have a decent desktop and not a craptop. Now, if there's something like oldblivion out there for skyrim, I'd be happy to give it a go.

Funniest thing you've heard an NPC say?
