  1. My oldest save is outside the Grotto before completing the quest (but already having accepted it obviously), I don't have a save from before starting the entire quest. I reloaded this save and attempted that part of the quest numerous times. Regardless of whether I killed Sinding or not, I was able to leave the Grotto until the quest was completed. Maybe I'll try resetting the quest to the initial stage.
  2. I had been playing fine for a few hours until I got the Ill Met by Moonlight quest. I entered Bloated Man's Grotto, completed the quest and then tried to exit, but I just got an infinite loading screen. I tried numerous times and eventually tried coc'ing to other zones. I could go to interior zones, but not exterior. Even after coc'ing to an interior zone, trying to leave that area would also result in an infinite load. The quest option didn't seem to affect anything either. My mod list:
  3. Sorry to necrobump, but I'm having this same issue and I'm doubtful it has to do with the quests. In one save game, I got the quest to go to Fort Dawnguard for the first time and would always CTD while travelling between Riften and Dayspring Canyon. On a new save game, I tried walking in that same area before receiving the Dawnguard quest and experienced the exact same CTD. 4. Most of the threads I've found similar to this issue seem to be more about Riften, usually the Bee and the Barb specifically. However, I'm finding this CTD consistently occurs on the road to Fort Dawnguard, or more accurately Dayspring Canyon, southeast of Riften. It seems to trigger at a certain spot near Broken Helm Hollow. I tried going anticlockwise around the mountain and up the path to Forelhost and crashed as soon as the ruins were in view. I can't think of anything special there that might be the cause, this doesn't happen anywhere else (that I've experienced yet). I see a lot of errors before the "VM is freezing" line in the logs, but I can't really figure out the source of the issue. I'm using Mod Organizer with LOOT, cleaned masters and all mods including SKSE and unofficial patches are latest versions. My latest Papyrus log: My mod list:
  5. I think I had this issue a while ago, and I'm having it again now. Just going to list what mods we have in common to perhaps narrow the potential causes down: ApachiiHair.esm=1 ApachiiHairFemales.esm=1 AzarHair.esm=1 ClimatesOfTamriel.esm=1 Fantasy Soundtrack Project.esp=1 HighResTexturePack01.esp=1 HighResTexturePack02.esp=1 HighResTexturePack03.esp=1 better dynamic snow.esp=1 StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp=1 StaticMeshImprovementMod-DragonbornTernFix.esp=1 StaticMeshImprovementMod-FurnitureChestSnowFix.esp=1 skyui.esp=1 ClimatesOfTamriel-Nights-Level-1.esp=1 azarhair.esp=1 TheEyesOfBeauty.esp=1 Note: The order of these mods compared to mine is very different. Do you use BOSS? I have a feeling it might have to do with the Eyes of Beauty mod. I have several eye texture packs that all overwrite each other, and they all come with werewolf eyes. So I think it's possible that the game is looking for a texture from one pack but the game is loading another pack. Although I assumed when it came to textures they're all named the same so the mod it comes from shouldn't influence how the game reads it.
  6. I'm no stranger to CTDs, and I know you guys are no strangers to threads about them, but this one has me stymied. I just came back to a save game after a lengthy hiatus. As always when I come back from a break I update all my mods within reason, making sure to see if there are any significant changes or conflicts. My game loaded fine, but when I went to Winterhold to begin the College questline, I would CTD as soon as I completed Faralda's test. If I persuaded her, it would crash as soon as she had walked on a bit and paused in front of the focus point. If I cast a spell, it would crash as soon as the cast was complete and registered a success. I was able to get around this by fast travelling to Whiterun as soon as I completed the test by persuasion. I was then able to return to Winterhold and continue the quests. However, after Mirabelle's tour, where I could enter the Hall of Attainment without issue, when I tried to enter the Hall of the Elements I would CTD after a brief time at the black screen. I originally thought it was certainly related to the Immersive College of Winterhold mod which I previously had installed but uninstalled well before even going to Winterhold for the first time. I'm actually not certain whether I had it installed for this save or not. Although, coc'ing to the Hall causes the crash as well, so perhaps it's trying to load objects inside that don't exist? I'm also able to coc to the Arch Mage's Quarters and the Arcanaeum, it's certainly either an object being loaded in the Hall or some script that's trying to run as soon as you enter. Is there any way for me to find out what may be causing it? I've attached my BOSS log and latest Papyrus log (going from just after fast travelling to the College to entering Hall of Elements).
  7. I know bumping is frowned upon, especially in the mod requests section, but after almost seven months with no replies I thought I'd give it a second chance instead of just making another identical thread.
  8. I came here to essentially make this exact thread, so I might as well just add my issues here. After experiencing a lot of CTDs and random bugs, I decided to finally clear out all my mods, do a clean install of the game and start fresh with yet another character (I must have gone through about fifteen by now). Everything was running super smooth until I started piling on all my "essential" mods, after which I was back to the same point of crashing to desktop almost every ten minutes. I have no allusions that such an intensive load order should by any means be stable, but it's simply frustrating, so if I can figure out the root of these issues it would be much more enjoyable. While I've been getting [seemingly] random CTDs, both indoors and outdoors, I've run into a particularly alarming issue that is actually preventing me from playing the game. I'm inside Broken Tower Redoubt, and any time I try to go outside it crashes. I actually just now tried to load a quick save from inside and it crashed as well. I had this same issue months ago and I think it has something to do with Climates of Tamriel possibly, but I really have no clue. Also, Papyrus simply isn't creating any logs. I assume there's no maximum number of log files that can be stored in the Logs folder, and even if there were it would just delete the oldest one to create the new one? Edit: I assumed incorrectly. There can actually only be four log files at a time it seems. Deleting them allowed it to create new ones. Running latest game version, whatever it is (1.9.32 I think), with all DLC and SKSE 1.6.16. Mods: All master files cleaned as well. I suspect it's probably something like Supreme Storms, might just be paranoid but the game seems a bit on edge when the weather changes. Actually just reading through the BOSS log, would the warning about the missing NavMesh for Realistic Room Rental mean anything? Skyrim.ini: SkyrimPrefs.ini:
  9. I've never had to address this issue since I'm normally very careful when using NMM, but I recently went to update a mod and instead of first uninstalling the current version, I deleted it. It did not come up with any warning telling me to first uninstall it. What effect could this have on my game installation? Are the mod files still in the game folder? If I installed the newer version would that overwrite any dependencies and work as normal?
  10. I like that the arrow keys can be used to browse through images on the mod pages, but it only works for images submitted by the author. If I click on a user submitted image, pressing the right arrow takes me to the second mod author image and it continues to cycle through those images but doesn't continue into the user submitted images.
  11. Try uninstalling or reinstalling 101 Bugs, that seems to be what those .psc files are from or modified by. Failing that, try uninstalling any mod that you think might have made changes to those objects. Did you perhaps install a mod of that nature, make a save, and then uninstall it? Also, run BOSS and check for dirty edits. Judging by the amount and types of mods you're using I'm guessing you know all about this.
  12. I have been using this mod for a while now with no issues: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/562 However, that mod has been abandoned (it doesn't really need updating anyway) and it's somewhat frustrating having to have upwards of 20-30 individual .esp's in the load order, one for each type of helmet (He did release a new version with all helmets packed into one .esp, but that obviously trades off convenience for choice). What I would like is a mod which essentially does the same thing, but instead comes in the form of a single .esp which adds an MCM menu. In this menu would be a list of all the different types of helmets (the mod I linked includes thirty four types including individual dragon priest masks) that can be toggled individually, perhaps organized in groups for ease of use. Then the game would simply hide the selected helmets (for both the player and all NPCs as it's been said many times it's not really possible to make it player-exclusive).
  13. I did a quick test of 4x vs 4xEQ (which is all I could handle before recurring CTDs (most likely caused by mods but can't be sure) got the better of me. What I could gather is the EQ level adds a very minor amount of blurring, an almost imperceptible change. It didn't really feel like an equivalent of 8x at all. The performance loss while outside was only about 2 FPS, so for my money it's much better to just use 4x.
  14. I'm well aware of that. Like you said, the LOD pop for me is more about immersion than performance. The AA issue was really just a separate concern. I had been running with 8x AA with really no troubles, but now the mods are piling up. A few HD texture replacers here and some high quality effects there, and riding in the open takes me down to 40, sometimes 30 FPS where I would normally get 50-60. After reading some guides and testimonials, going from 8x to 4x seems to yield a rather significant performance boost, but obviously with the drop in quality which I really have to concentrate to notice. I don't use FXAA, but I do use DYNAVISION which adds a very nice blur effect. I'm completely hijacking my own thread, but I'm now trying to figure out how 4xEQ AA (AMD only) compares to 4x and 8x.
  15. Thanks for the advice Gruftlord, I'll assess both mods individually but I think SDO will probably win. And the CCC settings seem to be working properly now. I reduced AA from 8x to 4x and I can now see some jaggies if I really look in close.
