Do you have problems with other games crashing? AMD video card drivers are notorious for crashing systems. I read somewhere that a new driver release fixed a lot of problems in general and with skyrim though. That power supply you have is only 700 watts... like I said if you have any other games crashing it would be good to know why and also you are overclocking so 700 watts maybe not quite enough? My specs Gigabyte X58A-OC motherboard with latest bios Intel core i7 960 cpu overclocked to 4GHZ:-) 12 gigs of ram 1600MHZ running at that speed triple channel Crucial M4 128GB ssd drive Samsung SSD Pm800 256GB for program files directories Asus GTX560Ti 1024mb video card non overclocked version and 301.42 drivers Cougar SX S850 power supply 850 watts. Raven 2E case with sideways hard drive bays Win7 64 bit Sometimes my pc will crash while playing supreme commander forged alliance and it will crash hard with BSOD and stuttering sound but this is probably happening because I am overclocking. I have had this game crash on me like this through several video driver revisions and system reloads. Skyrim will quickly crash as black screen and then I am back and the desktop if I play for a long time for example AFK to go take care of some stuff and then come back and my system crashed. But if I play for 10 hours straight it will occasionally crash after that. I haven't run the latest firmware on my m4 drive yet the one that fixes the longer than 5000 hours and corrupt drive bug because I am nowhere near 5000 hours on that drive. Planning another system reload soon and I will do it then. Also there is one beta bios for my board that does something with improving raid on the sata3 controller so I want to look into that too. Ultimately though I think it has a lot to do with overclocking, if you can image your system for backup, reload it as clean system use the image later to get back to where you were, get rid of overclock and only install drivers and windows updates etc no extra programs like antivirus and office or java, nothing else except the basics and then skyrim with v1.5 and then try it vanilla for a few days then move up to v1.6 and see if it gets better or worse. If you still get small crashes where it just goes back to desktop after a long while then it will probably be ok but if you overclock again and it crashes a lot again you might have to adjust your overclock settings. I had a lot of hard crashing while trying to find the sweet spot for my cpu when overclocking. The voltage is hard to get just right but thankfully the X58 platform is a tank when it comes to overclocking! So much room to play with voltage but sandybridge is a fine edge! You can kill a sandy with just a tad too much voltage to the cpu! That and the chipset blunder by intel when sandy first came out is why I stuck with X58. Oh sure I would like to have a core i7 990x but not worth a grand to me. Anyone selling one cheap is selling an old beat down horse on its last legs lol. So I will be stuck with this 960 for a long long time. When first overclocking I had a lot of crashes until I got close to where I am now. Just a little undervolted and games like bulletstorm and mw3 would crash easily. Even windows would crash if I had too many things running for too long but once I got that voltage just right it was ok. At least you don't have the latest intel system with the crappy overclock problems and the crap tin design on the cpu. Socket 2011 is overrated and cost way too much. Maybe four years from now there will be something good to move up to but sandybridge is it for now. I thought about going amd with their new cpu but it sucks compared to even x58 system lol. Forgot to add that when my MCH reaches 65 degrees celcius or higher my system will crash! That only happens when room temp is high from summer time or lack of AC. I have that bg square scythe ninja something cpu cooler, the one that has only one fan but can hold four fans. I thought when building my system that it would be great for passive cooling in this case if I got a fast exhaust fan and turned the stock intake fans 180mm all the way up but no it has to have a fan on top of the cooler pulling air through it to stay cool while overclocking. I suppose it would be fine without a fan if I wasn't overclocking but I didn't build this system to run at stock speeds. That cooler looks great in my system though:-) I want some higher volume intake fans but nobody makes 180mm fans that have good performance and good lighting in fact there are only two or three choices with fans of that size. I can't afford to watercool and I don't want to deal with the mess and maintainence that comes along with it. My case sits on a desk so there is no speculation about dirt in the fans or hot air building up under a desk above the pc. If you have your pc on the floor you might just try putting it on a desk or at least getting it out from under a desk so any hot air can get away from the pc and not cycle back around to the intake fans.

Hmm... Okay I forgot about that bug in riften where blade of the rift is not given as a reward for becoming thane and I don't see anything in the favor section for riften just the other holds. So how does the game know how to work out the thane of the rift quest then?

Well meddling around in the creation kit I found it for the solitude thane quest where the leveled weapon is given. When in creation kit go to character/quest/favor and the thane quests are right there. Doubleclick favor252 for the solitude thane quest and click on quest aliases tab. Look at the bottom of the list of stuff there and you see jarlweapon! Doubleclick jarlweapon and you will notice it is called a reference alias:-) So you could close that and then right click the next line under jarlweapon and select new reference alias then choose from the create reference to object list the item you want to also get for being thane! Looks like I need to find a way to get each hold shield onto an object list that is selectable there it is quite a long list! Here I was thinking I needed to get into papyrus or something complicated lol. Well at least I found it now I just need to do it:-) Any tips that anyone wants to drop in would be appreciated though.

@stemin New here so I don't know what scripts you are talking about. Where to change what the jarl of each hold gives you? Looking through the creation kit I don't see it. I was able to get a private ebony armor mod going for myself and I tossed it into the leveled items list so it would appear all over shops and forges and cave clearing rewards but something specific like a particular quest list where is that?

Something that really bugs me is my character appearance in game. I play as a nord male so far and he looks old no matter what I do he still kinda looks old and the default hair sucks. I am using that hair that is just combed to the back but there is a small hippie ponytail at the back. I really hate that ponytail and the other hairs are not male or just not male to me lol. I tried apachiisky hair but it really is mostly for women, some of the male hairs from there make my character look like michael landon and one makes him look like nathan explosion. The short roman dude hairs are not my style and some of the other male hairs I dunno why make me think he smells bad? Weird lol. Are there any normal male hair mods that look higher poly better textures but don't look metro or out of place? I looked through a lot of hair mods on here but I am not sure if I am seeing all hair mods. Maybe try by category this time instead of search terms. I have adult content unblocked too so I should see everything available right?

No, there needs to be a mod that sets her as a follower and then just lead her up to ol botheia bothelia whatever temple and sacrifice her on that alter up there! Would be nice to see the ebony blade shoved through her body on that alter:-) Of course only after you finish the main quest and all that hehe:-)

Ok so it was under shock category, for some reason I thought it was under fire category. Yeah make it an enchantment for swords, maces, hammers etc it will go along well with the undead flee or banish to oblivion enchantments too. Don't know if it will happen a percentage of the time or all the time but would be nice to have for weapons instead of depending on mage abilities for people like me that don't like to play with magic so much.

How to get rid of the days as a warewolf bug? I completed the quest for removing warewolf/lycanthropy and it worked but after a while I started getting those remarks from the guards about fur in my ears and muzzle my dog at night. Then I noticed the days as a warewolf stat was going up even though I cured lycanthropy! I can get a well rested sleep too so it is an on and off thing I dunno? Tried some commands that don't work the game says doesn't recognize them.

There is a perk under destuction magic for fire spells that will vaporize/incinerate a target so they turn into nothing more than embers in other words nothing left of the target. I think it was high up on the perk tree though.

Those are not different dragons all those dragons are actually just alduin swooping down and eating those lost people in the fog. When you beat alduin they walk over to where you meen tsun and thank you for what you did. Don't stay too long in sovengarde though because there seems to be a bug where if you walk too far away, tsun tries to follow you and gets stuck then you can't go back. So talk to the people in the fog before you find tsun. I found the high king only once, after that I couldn't find him again and he was the only character that didn't show up after beating alduin so I guess alduin ate him before I beat him lol. When you first appear in sovengarde just keep walking forward it all goes downhill and then you get to tsun he is standing in front of a backbone looking bridge. I last found the high kind over to the left somewhere and before finding kodlak but after finding that scardy cat stormcloak guy. Alduin swooping down never attacks me because I keep using the clear skies shout that clears out his fog so he only goes where there is fog it seems.

There is a perk for fire destruction magic that incinerates a target hit by fireball or fire at a certain high level. Can this be made into an enchantment for swords? Would be great to literally burn through your enemies with a sword or some other weapon like that.

Don't forget something to make the npc at forges get the hell out of your way after you start using something they were just using. For example when you want to use the forge and they are using it, you keep pressing buttons until they quit using it and let you use but then they have to stand on your head or on your hands while you are using it and say dumb things like huh? What? indicating that you are too close to them or in their personal space and it is creeping them out.

I really hate to travel normally because my follower will always attack any fish in the water that we get anywhere near! Also they only attack with bow so it takes them a really long time to kill the stupid fish and by that time some bandits or a dragon have nearly killed us! Is there a mod that makes fish no longer register as a target to followers?

Oh man that sucks because there is some mods on here that let you change what your followers are wearing when they are at home and not following you and you are saying that eventually no matter what you do, your followers will default back to their steel armor or whatever after a while? I wanna start using those follower can wear anything mods in my next playthrough but if they are just gonna switch out after I leave and come back then it is a waste of time. I wanted to eventually have my followers wearing nice clothes and jewelry when they are not at home and some of the female followers only housecarls actually may be a bit skimpy hehe:-) Edit Hey would this be tied to the mannequins issue in solitude player house too? Where items on mannequins can be copied after removal or something like that?

I couldn't find anyone in the game that wanted to follow me that I thought deserved that fate so I just never completed that quest. Now if a mod can make some npc into followers well, then this quest is worth doing because some normally non follower npc DESERVE this fate lol.

Hey is there a mod that turns off dragon attacks temporarily like for an hour or two max? Would come in handy for visiting falkreath or riverwood or any other minor town where you don't want certain npc to die before you talk to them? Deperately needed early on when hauling a bunch of loot back to a town or village to sell it all and then a dragon shows up even worse if you slow walked a long way at the end of a cave or ruin raid.

Hmm I guess it does look that way huh? Well if I can get some free time soon I will try to learn what I can then. Good to know that it is possible though, so at some point I will be able to get it going.

Hey that looks great! My only gripe about the akaviri stuff is that the armor has some really low poly stuff on the shoulders. Would be nice to see some custom models that look like old japanese samurai armors of various types. Some of them had scary looking masks some did not etc. I end up wearing one of the dragon priest masks and the ebony mail with akaviri gloves and boots at some point when trying be an assasin on my own not part of the brotherhood or anything but the boots clip through the mail a lot and they make my feet look too small. Would be nice to see some slightly bigger feet for the boots if possible but not as big as that pic of the orc lol those are some biiiiiiiiiig feet hehe (insert joke about big feet means other things are big here) so if you are good at modelling it will go a long way with making the akaviri stuff better. Hey could you try some chrome or steel looking armor too? Others have done it on this site but it doesn't look good looks too loud or plain.

My first playthrough I did the civil war last simply because I thought there would be a better way to solve the civil war problem after beating the main quest but that wasn't the case. Early in my travels to the west I wandered into a fort with a bunch of dead stormcloaks laying around. The fort was occupied by some evil magic types so I slew them all but it was hard to do at a low level. After they were all dead and looted I went outside and some stormcloaks walked up into the fort and began to occupy it and told me about ulfric blah blah. Later on after traveling through there again there was just one stormcloak there all by himself just standing there in the middle of the fort outside. I could talk to him but he wouldn't move from there. I guess after the civil war is done if you fight for the stormcloaks maybe more of them are hanging around there but if you fight for the empire do the imperials occupy that fort normally or does just one of them stand around there? As you go through the game you get some more help the stormcloaks quests even though you aren't with them or with the imperials either. Makes you think the stormcloaks are the good guys but later things are different. If you do the civil war first you miss out on the interactions you can get with both sides for example if you are not fast traveling and need to sell some stuff but the only place nearby is a stormcloak or imperial camp and you are on the other side in the war you can't go there unless you want to fight them. But if you are neutral you can sell stuff to them and make money faster. By waiting until after the main quest to do the civil war I was able to accumulate a lot of money and a lot of loot because I also did the thieves guild quests earlier too and I had no problems with buying things I needed or wanted I just wish I had something to do with all that money at some point. I got to sit at a table and listen to two sides bicker at each other and feel all important making decisions lol. Also got to decide the fate of dawnstar and winterhold. Dawnstar needed a new jarl badly but winterhold would have been fine either way who cares what the locals think of the college there. Too bad that drunk guy never came back after I completed his find the lost friend quest for him. It was strange that he just never came back. I wish that the stormcloaks could have maintained control of falkreath though so that jarl stuhn could have been put back into power and get rid of his lazy good for nothing son. But I don't understand why the lazy jarl's assistant had to go she could have just helped stuhn or worked in town somewhere instead of hating on me in windhelm. Oh but I bet things like that will be left up to future DLC darnit forgot about that:-(

Just a quick idea... Samurai mage character:-)

Would be nice to marry the player character to the queen in the blue palace she seems to like the player character a lot:-) But as we have seen in oblivion the player character is just a vehicle to power for some other character at the end of the story. I too would rather have the nords go independent but the writers for this game threw in the racist stuff and it pisses me off. Why would a people that seem to care so much for honor and tradition have racist problems? The writers could have left out the racist stuff and they could have wrapped up the story with a unified goal or the player could choose at the end to participate in a duel for one side or the other to decide who runs skyrim instead of sacking the whole country, tearing up towns and making hot lookin queens boohoo on the throne about ulfric winning. Maybe the player could have also challenged ulfric to a duel if they played as a nord and win independence for skyrim while putting that other nord guy on the throne as jarl of windhelm that is there when ulfric dies? I don't like the imperials, I don't care for them ever since oblivion and those jerk guards I ended up fighting them a lot for talking trash lol. I don't like ulfric because he is a power hungry dictator more so than a nord that cares for skyrim. The other races in skyrim can stay as long as they want or need to but some parts of skyrim are for the nords. Nords come from skyrim and it would be lame to see all kinds of other races just everywhere overnight. So the other races would get help restoring old abandoned towns and forts etc as a place for them to grow and to help cut down on bandit hideouts so there is some positive things for other races to do that nords can be happy with. See the writers could have thought up this stuff but it would seem less dramatic but not if it was an end of game goal or secondary main quest series of goals for the player. They could be drawn out quests like barenziah jewels so there is more to do after finishing the main quest. I really hated watching balgruff get his butt kicked and find out his kids go missing later on if ulfric wins. They could have just left whiterun out of it until later if the player killed ulfric but decided that skyrim should be independent and then balgruff would agree because he might have more respect for the player than he had for ulfric?

For quite some time now maybe several years, shadows in pc games have looked like crap. Remember that gamestop tv commercial for that game prototype? The character was running around on a balcony or something. You could see crappy blocky shadows all over his face. There is the problem of z fighting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z-fighting Lazy programmers won't update their game engines to deal with it and nvidia and amd don't seem to care about legacy game support but for some reason this kind of crap is still around even in new games I dunno why. I don't think there will ever be a true fix for it until the next generation of consoles comes out:-( Edit Forgot to say that I have the same video card as you! My specs... If I load the official HD texture packs, the game runs slow on ultra and when it doesn't run slow in some areas if I play too long it will get slow soon so I run on high without the HD packs and turned down some AA and AF I think. Running at 1080p on a 27 inch lcd monitor yeaaaaaahhhh:-) I am thinking about upgrading to a faster card with 2GB ram next year just waiting for the dust to settle on nvidia and amd. Right now is a terrible time to buy computer stuff it is full price everywhere during the summer time. Jan/feb next year the retailers will be looking to clear out their inventories and things will be cheap. Even the upgraded 560ti with 448 cores might be available with 2GB ram for cheap hopefully less than 200 by next year. Also the power requirements for 600 series is crazy! No way I am gonna spend that much electricity to play a game it is bad enough with the 500 series. Also I don't want a space heater/leaf blower for a video card.

More specifically lydia, she likes to stand around a lot before following and if you move too fast she will lose sight of you. I hate having to babysit my followers in this game, they constantly get stuck, lost won't jump down sometimes I really can't stand that and it messes with my plans to level each follower equally. I noticed that the girl you get in riften follows too closely and seems to run into the player a lot. Would also be nice to see a fix for the follower jumping right in front of you during combat! I really hate this because at some point lydia does it a lot and she ends up looking kinda pissed all the time afterwards lol. Maybe make them stand to the side to give the player a clear shot? The only benefit of the follower jumping in front of the player is if the player is low level but has good healing powers and it does make leveling the follower easier because they see all the action but the player doesn't level up in combat much.

Well that is the problem with these ideas is that I am just starting out and I have no knowledge of advanced 3d modelling or texturing. Some items will require a new mesh at the higher and highest smithing levels that looks a lot better than the original and as said about weapons the gems/jewels would have to be modeled in too and textures setup properly too. So it will take some time, a long time for me to get to that point but if someone out there on these forums or elsewhere can figure out how to turn these ideas into reality that would probably go a lot faster. If there is a way to check which sHealthDataPrefixWeap# (# can be 1-6) a weapon has, then it might be possible to do a switch. I really need to spend some time digging into the details of the creation kit it seems.
