I got my copy plugged in with the Steam account. It's as if I installed Skyrim through steam. Now, another problem. Creation Kit doesn't appear on steam :P.
-
Steam itself is buggy. It takes ages to update itself, and insists on doing so almost every single time I run it. In nutshell, ANNOYING. :(
-
I didn't download it from Steam. I downloaded CK from torrents :P. Mine is a standalone installation of Skyrim. You realize there is no stand alone skyrim correct? You are soon to meet the ban hammer... I have a non-steam version of Skyrim, and I just downloaded a non-steam version of CK. Let's just leave it at that =/ Pirates are not welcome here. Goodbye. -DrGrimm

It doesn't even let me get there. As soon as I start, that Alert pops up. When I click "Yes to All", everything hangs and I get "Skyrim Creation kit has stopped working". PS: I've used Garden of Eden Creation Kit before...so I'm familiar with how CK works.

If I click "Yes to all" it crashes afterwards.

I installed the Creation Kit correctly as instructed (in the main Skyrim directory). When I click run Creationkit.exe, the window opens along with an alert "MODELS : Unable to load CTL file Context: DEFAULT "Yes to all" will disable all Warnings to this context [Yes] [No] [Yes to all]" After I click yes to all, I get the typical Windows 7 error "Skyrim Creation Kit has stopped working", and it closes. Did anyone else face this problem? I've update my Skyrim to 1.4.2.1 patch. I also have a lot of mods installed, including ScriptDragon and SKSE. Please help.

Although Skyrim's trading system is better than that of Oblivion, where traders' gold actually runs out, I find it a bit tedious for a medieval setting. Consider this scenario: Suppose I have a potion worth a 1000 gold coins and carry absolutely no money. Let's say, the trader has an Amulet of Alchemy worth 1000, but has only 100 gold. I should be able to exchange my potion for his Amulet, right? A barter system would let players buy and sell things purely based on the items' worth. I think such a system would be a lot more realistic. I'm sure people who have played fallout 3 or New Vegas would understand...

LE Holstered Dual-weapon and Shield on back
divyanthj replied to divyanthj's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Exactly :). Perhaps a little to the side so that when two weapons are equipped, they are parallel to each other on the back...just like DAO. -
I like the way the PC looks in Dragon Age Origins. A "shield to back" mod on Oblivion was nice, although a bit flawed. It would be great if weapons and shields could be on the back when holstered.

First. We are forced to improve our skills and level-up, just so that we get some perks that are almost essential (seriously, crafting dwarven armor is not a perk. It's a necessity). Second. Levelling becomes disproportionately slower. You can reach level 30 at the blink of an eye. Past this point, it's really hard to improve your skills and levels. Therefore, "character development" literally halts once you reach a certain level. You are forcefully set in your ways, and you cannot really do anything else (who wants to learn destruction when you are already a master archer). Although this is realistic to a great extent, people in real life always want to learn doing new things with the skills they already have. For example, a guitarist wants to play new songs that are within his skill-level. A programmer too wants to learn new languages before he goes ahead to get a masters' degree. Similarly, a level 30 alchemist too should be able to learn new things, like crafting stronger poisons. Third. I am aware of the dragon-souls-to-perk mod. Although it's quite useful, I don't find it lore-friendly. I understand that this mod was made with script-dragon and that limited tooling Bethesda has provided us with so far (much appreciated for all that effort, dear modder). But it would be nice if there was some object in the game world, or an NPC with which you can interact and 'earn' more perk points.

*SPOILER ALERT It's really dumb that you are the one who should do the killings when you become listener of the dark brotherhood. Instead, it would be great if we could assign assassins to missions and make them gain experience and improve their ranks. If the creation kit allows you to create new UIs, there could be a mod that adds something like Mediterranean defense in Assassins Creed Revelations! What say you?

Let's face it. The so called companion "command" is absolutely pathetic. It added one new feature (i.e telling them exactly what to do) and removed the rest of the features that mattered. I honestly think Fallout New Vegas had the best companion management system. Add the "idle companions mod" and "unlimited companions", you could run your own private army. Even if all this is not possible, at least a modder can do this: Prevent a companion from aborting his/her last order when you press 'tab'. Otherwise, "I" can't do anything (cannot interact with world) when I'm ordering my companion. It would be nice if my companion and I could do things simultaneously...like gathering ore inside a mine (division of labor).

It's quite an eye-sore when the dragonborn has a sword in one hand, a shield in the other and a quiver full of useless Iron arrows on his back. Usually, I start out looking pretty cool. But some situations dictate that I switch to range weaponry. Once I'm done shooting arrows, I want to switch back to melee weapons to look cool again. I use my quick-keys to switch back to a sword. But when I do that, the quiver still remains. It's really irritating having to navigate all the way to the weapons menu and explicitly unequip the arrows after finding it in a huge pool of inventory. Yes, I do favorite and quick-key one of the arrows just to remove that annoying quiver on the backside, but then again.....why this kolaveri?? :P

Not sure if this is technically feasible. But any technically skilled modder is welcome to "steal" this idea, which is quite simple. Mounted Combat! I'm sick and tired of having to dismount my horse everytime a wolf or a skeever attacks. Things would be a lot better if I could simply cast a spell or stick an arrow from horseback. Also, it would look nice if we could see mounted guards patrolling the streets outside cities. The area south of Whiterun is pretty vast, and it looks quite dumb when I see whiterun guards strolling about on foot. Why should they have to sprint all the way back to the city when there's a dragon when it's a lot more effective to ride back home? Oblivion, in that regard looked so much better. Mounted guards will truly look figures of authority worthy of respect.
