Thanks for the advice! I'll try that out. I'd try crossfiring it, but i don't think you can even buy a 5770 anymore. :/

i air compressor cleaned my computer a couple months back. STEP uses a lot of hd texture packs and effects, so i was thinking maybe an accelerator cache would do the trick. here are my performance screens any ways: http://imgur.com/evzd04D I have deactivated a lot of my high texture mods and it improves it a little, but the drops and now CTDs still occur.

Ok, so i'm coming back to Skyrim after nearly a year and a half (or so) of not playing, partly due to legendary edition being released and buying it for PC. As such, i have no knowledge of whether my problem is due to a new patch or hardware, or the mods (something i love about the PC version)! So here it is: Whenever I am in large load spaces in skyrim e.g. the open air, cities, seemingly randomly, my FPS (which maintains a pretty steady 40 FPS outside 60 FPS inside) drops to zero and the comes back up to its regular speed. It only happens once every two minutes, so its not a dealbreaker for me, but I does ruin the immersion that i love about skyrim. Ive tried lots of ini tweaks, but none of them seems to resolve this! My game is pretty heavily modded. My System: AMD Phenom II Black Edition x2 at 3.2 GHz Radeon HD 5770, 1 Gb VRAM No SSD, just a 7200 rpm HDD 2x2 (so 4) Gbs of Corsair XMS3 Series' I built this thing 4 years ago, so please don't tell me my system is crap, cuz i already know it!
