Cannot figure out why my Skyrim simply crashes with no error message
kaligon replied to kaligon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
@ducksonkrack : How could I figure out what the optimal load order should be? I'm not really experienced in this so maybe my question is silly but I never actually considered modifying that one, do I need that BOSS software to get the optimal load order ? @Serenkar : Unfortunately no, I mean I don't have any addon/mod related to papyrus scripting and such, or maybe I'm mistaken. How can you obtain those logs? Should it be some specific option or do I need certain software to get it ? Well, to be honest I was afraid of installing too many mods just for this reason, when they all pile up and need sorting or more than just the average knowledge I would probably mess up my game and that's it. I've downloaded BOSS, I'll probably look up info on the internet on how to use it. I'm really sorry that I saw your replies so late, after waiting 2 days, actually camping the thread I thought I wouldn't pinch any interest on my issue. Thank you for the advice, I'll try to sort out my load order somehow and see if it makes any difference ! -
Cannot figure out why my Skyrim simply crashes with no error message

Although it might be a little early, I'm bumping this thread as I want to get this fixed asap. Eagerly waiting for some suggestions/feedback ! -
Have you tried adding those lines? Well those default settings worked for me, I mean I stopped getting the error number 4 after adding those lines, my problem is that my game crashes and I'm not getting any error message, it could be from another cause though. If that still doesn't work, try reinstalling and see if your Skyrim.ini resets to default, if not get the default values from the ones who uploaded it in the thread, reinstall SKE and SkyUI and see it there's any difference. I'm not experienced in this programming domain but those seem like useful suggestions. EDIT: Don't forget to backup your files, that's really important ! Get an initial copy of whatever you're modifying !

Cannot figure out why my Skyrim simply crashes with no error message
kaligon replied to kaligon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Since I got the error message number 4 on SkyUI I thought I'd just uninstall and disable SKSE and SkyUI instead of trying to mess with the variables in Skyrim.ini, I must admit my knowledge on it is limited. It truly makes my time browsing much more comfortable, but I guess I'll just wait for a new version for a better optimization. I guess the only difference is that I'll spend more time looking for items and quest related stuff. Back to your main questions, the thing that made me confused is that I can play the game properly for a time, but after an hour or so (it's actually an undetermined time) the game simply crashes, no error message, nothing, it just closes. There's no precise time of the crash, it never crashes as soon as I load my save but after a while playing. That's why I'm wondering if my PC would be the problem or too many mods sucking up memory. I have never used BOSS and I'm not sure how to use it, I found a redirect in the nexus mods after searching for it (I mean for the download link). To be honest, I never messed with load orders, I just let them load by default under "Data files" section. Maybe that's my problem. The order under Data Files is the following : Dawnguard.esm Hearthfires.esm ApachiiHair.esp TemptressVixen.esp Unofficial Skyrim, respectively Hearthfire and Dawnguard Patch.esp Amazing Follower Tweaks.esp Seraphine Hunted Armor.esp Schwertleite set.esp The schwertleite mod is under my subscribed mods on steam, that's the only one I used the steam workshop for because it seemed easier. I must also add that I used NMM on all the mods I've used so far, with the exception of Schwertleite set I described above. I've read some threads around and I guess it could be that my save files are corrupted. Unfortunately, I used the console commands A LOT (yeah I'm lazy, I added lots of reagents and materials) and I also altered my stats through console commands. Could that make my save files corrupt? Or could having old mods disabled have corrupted my save files? Thank you very much for taking your time to help me! I really love Skyrim, so far it's been the only game that really fascinated me, "landscape-wise" and "story-wise". And to add even more to it, there's so many mods which make the game even better. It would really suck having to delete my save files, as I did so many quests and have gotten pretty far in-game, but if it's the last resort, just tell me and I guess I'll have to get a fresh start. Edit: I'm sorry, apparently I missed the Twin daggers of Asganoth mod because it's not shown in my "Data Files", sadly I don't know why. Oh and same goes for Dimonized UNP female body but I assume that's because the mod itself alters the default body skins. -
First of all, I would like to thank this whole community for bringing so much to this game. I've found awesome fixes, patches and so much useful stuff for the game around; so take it as a small token of appreciation for your efforts ! Now let's move on to my main issue, it's my first time posting and I thought this section would be the most appropriate for my problem (if not, sorry mods :D). I've started using some mods for a while now and it seems my Skyrim won't work properly now, it simply crashes without displaying any message, it just closes to desktop for no reason. What I am wondering is if it's whether my specs are poor or I might have screwed up the game with some mods. So far I've only been using the following: -Unofficial patches, except for dragonborn because I don't own that DLC -ApachiiHair -HighResTexturePack (there were 3 of them activated) -Schwertleite set -Temptress/Vixen -Dimonized UNP female bodies -Amazing follower tweaks -Seraphine hunted armor -The twin daggers of Asganoth -A small fix with the purpose of making my skyrim use 4gb of RAM instead of 2 -Better dialogue controls v1.2 -SkyUI v4.1 Now I must add that I was afraid my issue would have been that SKSE pack with the .dll's because it just looked quite hard to handle for a newbie like me (started using mods not for long). I still don't really know how it works, I kept having an error message about some Papyrus scripts and I only unpacked the files with ".pex", I didn't copy the ones with the "psc" extension because I thought I needed some software named CreationKit. I looked it up on the internet and it didn't look like the type of software for the average joe who enjoys playing skyrim, those commands looked like you need some programming experience to pull it off. Anyways, to conclude it, the archive of SKSE I downloaded had a whole bunch of files, so I found a guide on youtube and only copied some dll's and those with .pex in my skyrim folder. I first thought my skyrim was crashing because of the error message number 4 I got from SkyUI, so I fixed the "papyrus" problem by adding and modifying some lines in my skyrim.ini. Then the same thing happened again so I deleted the SKSE files, disabled the SkyUI and deleted it and my Skyrim still crashes. I must also add that I've used the skse loader while I had it installed. Because of this I'm at a loss right now. Here's my PC specc - I currently have 6GB of RAM but I'm running Win Vista Ultimate x32, which as far as I know only reads 4GB - Intel core i7 3 GHZ (it's a pretty old edition of i7) - nVidia GTX650 2GB of memory I usually play with my graphics set to high and resolution set to 1280x1024 (yeah my display is old) So I thought maybe my PC isn't good enough and the crashes might be due to the game running out of resources. I didn't find any resource monitor in the mods website though. To conclude my request, I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this post as well as those who took the time to give me hints, suggestions, etc. My post is pretty long, sorry about that! Have a good day folks ! P.S: I kept reading interesting things about 2 mods named BOSS, respectively MCM. However, I have no idea what "MCM" means and where I can find it, I only found mods which require it. Most of the community says they really help with sorting mods and files. Would those help in determining why my Skyrim crashes anyhow ? Edit: I forgot to mention there's a file named Update.esm in my NMM which is NOT shown in my data files section in the launcher. I have no idea if this might be a problem or not.
