Thanks for the info! I was thinking that was how it works, but wanted confirmation before uploading. I have now uploaded the files to my mod, and crossing my fingers it works for everyone now.

Edit: Meant title as "Dark Brotherhood Lie". ---------------------------------------------- I am interested if a mod exists or how hard it would be to make a mod that lets you lie to Nazir about completing a contract. Essentially it would need the following components: -Adding dialog to the target saying something similar to "Someone wants you killed, I recommend you leave Skyrim forever." which flags the same quest stage as killing the target. -Adding a lie option to Nazir about killing the target. -A script which disables the target NPC from the game. There is already a mod for making the Dark Brotherhood good guys, but that technically does change the lore. I don't want to touch the main DB quest line, just some of the contract kills for Nazir.

I will preface this with I have only tried to make one mod in my life and it is a very simple one. I shared it on here back in 2015 and got feedback it wasn't working as expected. I made the assumption that everything would be bundled in in the esp file, and apparently was wrong. I didn't realize the script files were spawned separately. I have since changed computers and didn't back that part up. Last night I opened the esp in Skyrim SE CK, and recreated what I believe was my small 2 line script for my 3 individual quests. So now in addition to the esp I have 3 pex files located in /data/scripts. I tried opening this in vanilla skyrim CK and get ";CODE NOT LOADED", but is the code needed to use the mod with either Skyrim vanilla or SE? I just want to make sure I share it correctly this time. Basically, should I just bundle the esp and 3 pex files and call it a day?

The funny thing about this is that the Dunmer, whom they are racist against, are ridiculously racist (slavery also). I run around Vvardenfell and they are all way more racist than the Nords. It's karma from their ancestors lol.

...on some character decisions. I have a neutral character that I have already decided, but I am wanting to do a pure evil/good playthrough as well. One will be a Nord Stormcloak pure warrior, and the other will be a Breton Imperial pure mage. Which one would you play "evil" or "good"? I am thinking the Nord seems more likely to not want to do the DB/TG, etc.

My first mod...Need some help (this thread may grow as keep failing)

Thanks so much for your help. I was not aware of the SEQ file. I did some research and learned about triggers and have used those instead. I have now officially submitted my first ever mod. Hopefully there are no bugs! -
My first mod...Need some help (this thread may grow as keep failing)
Tsyras replied to Tsyras's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
This fell some pages down. I presume my 2 questions must be very simple for the experienced modders here: 1) Why does Keerava not have the new dialog option (yes...the esp is enabled!)? I created quest, stages, aliases, and a dialog tree. 2) When I double click you dirty thief, in the area where you record a voice...is there an easy way to grab the stock voices...because that exact quote is one of the shared lines already voice acted? -
So I am trying to do a making amends type quest for after the second Thieves Guild quest, TG01 (Taking Care of Business). I created a quest/ESP. I then added some stages/aliases/dialog views. The following image is my first dialog view. I verified that my TG01 stage in game is 200. For some reason, when I talk to Keerava she just has the normal options (rent a room, etc), but I expected her to also have the attached image in her list of choices. Also, "You dirty thief!" is a female Argonian sound file, but I cannot find a way to use original skyrim voices. Any advice on how to do this? http://i.imgur.com/nWlpglm.png

So I am trying to do this myself (watched some quest tutorials on YT). I want to use voices that are already recorded in the game. For example there is already a female Argonian sound file that says "You dirty thief!". How can I use that in my quest dialog? It seems to only give me the option record a new voice. It seems like there would be an easy way to use already created sound files.

Edit: I started thinking about it, and essentially I would like to roleplay that I am "infiltrating" the Thieves guild, to try and take over to bring them back to their honorable ways (i.e. stealing from jerks like Nazeem). So, what I am thinking is leave the actual quest untouched. Then, each of the three targets get a new misc quest (i.e. after the quest is completed they have a new dialog option...and bad characters could just ignore this dialog option). In this quest you could explain what you were doing and make amends (i.e. pay them 300g or something like that). After that is done, have their dispositions back to good (including the male Argonian) so they stop greeting you like you are a criminal. Does this sound like it would be difficult? Clearly the dialog would be unvoiced, but it would still add some depth. I am not even sure if this would require a quest...essentially...conversation which ends with a transfer of gold, and their dispositions being raised (the male argonian maybe presents a problem here though...or have him start liking you after you bring him his gems). ------------------------------------------- I actually have done the Thieves guild for ES3,4, and 5. Anyway, I watched a quest tutorial on YouTube. When I dig into this I still am lost though. Basically I just need an option during the quest (before any of the other objectives have been completed), to say here is the gold they owed us, and have Bryn continue as normal (you did it clean blah blah). I could also see it done by adding an option when talking to the three targets letting them know the Thieves Guild is trying to extort money, but you will cover their debts. Anyone have any advice (or what to create this  )?

In the Thieves guild, for the most part, you can be a "good" character. Only take bedlam quests and steal from bad people (Nazeem!!), etc etc. The second quests where you bully people for protection money (Taking Care of Business) really bothers me. I have not done much modding; how hard would it be to add a (LIE) option to Bryn and paying the 300g out of pocket? Then the dialog could continue down the same path. The other 2 thieves guild quests that could be construed as "bad" are the opening ring planting quest and Dampened Spirits. There doesn't seem to be an easy way out of those, but I think I can justify those more than being a simple hired bully.

Has anyone else seen this (Roggvir / Solitude)?
Tsyras replied to Tsyras's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I actually just went though the entire quest related to the mentioned scripted event (Return to Grace). I waited to loot until after I had the quest, took the amulet back to the quest giver (even the exterior cell outside her hours loaded), but as soon as I ran through the Temple of the Divines and tried to exit back out I got a CTD. So a CTD occurred even with the amulet out of my inventory and that quest completed. Edit: So I did the exact same thing once again, this time I waited a few days and looted from the catacombs. Everything seems to work after doing that. I do have a real concern that there is an underlying issue I need to fix and something like this could crop up again. -
I finally decided I need to beat Skyrim. Started a new game. Progressed about 19 hours with no hitch. Mainly done side quest so far, but on my first visit to Solitude due to a mission (wont put spoilers), I started getting CTDs on exterior cell loads near the temple (this particular mission has me going through the temple to the 2nd level of Solitude and I started getting my CTDs there). Just in case people consider the opening scripted scene in Solitude a spoiler I will embed this. My mod order is this: Here is the log taken upon loading my last good save and following the actions listed above until I get a CTD (this log is short): Edit: I am using Skyrim through Steam, so it should be fully patched. My PC specs are an i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, 3 SSDs, GTX 970. Windows 10 Pro x64.

As I suspected, that workaround did not work. The strange thing is that one of the candlesticks (the one stuck in the wall) does not show up for me even in the base skyrim.esm when using the CK. It also has a light source in game that isn't in the CK.

I am not a modder for Skyrim, but sometimes I do like to tweak mods that I am using to get the most out of it. So I downloaded Vlindrel Hall Reborn (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31567). Great mod for anyone wanting to use this as their home. I started doing some tweaks to his porch version and everything was going fine, until I started to see some static items in game that were not displaying in the CK. For example, there is a silver candle stick stuck in the bedroom wall and one on the middle table that are not showing up in the CK (not in the render window nor in the object list), but they do show up in the game. A work around I have considered is to make a new mod that all it does it delete these static items when this mod is not loaded. I am not sure if this would even work because it would have one mod affecting the base game and one mod completely altering that cell. Does anyone have some suggestions?
