Hi guys I know this might be pretty late, given the fact that Oblivion is ten years old, but I made a cool little program in Microsoft VB that calculates when the next Shade of the Revenant Will occur at certain locations. For those of you who are not aware what Shade of the Revenant is, it's a purple light that shines down from the sky onto an altar. When the Shade is on the altar, you can put a grand soul gem in it, and cast a Soul Trap spell on the altar, corrupting the grand soul gem into a black soul gem, used to trap NPC(human) souls. The altar I go to is at Dark Fissure, in the mountains southeast of Cheydinhal. If you are having trouble finding it, look up dark fissure on uesp.net. there should be a map on there. Alternatively, just play through the Mages Guild Questline, and you will have to go to Dark Fissure for one of the quests, thus marking it on your map.
