  1. Hi there, In travelling through the high country from High Hrothgar to Riften, I incurred a near-death experience from hypothermia via the hypothermia mod. Being stuck in the middle of nowhere without any prospect of getting warm, the only solution was to (temporarily) disable the Hypothermia mod. This enable passage to Riften, but, unfortunately there was a cost. My blurry, hypothermic vision did not improve. (Google for similar problem in the Alduin quest.) At first I thought it was game corruption/ graphic card/ glitch, before loading a much older saved game. There, thankfully, the graphics were not blurry. Not desirous of losing many hours of gameplay, what if the last saved game is run with the Hypothermia mod, then fast travel your character to a very cold place, freeze almost to death, warm up by a fire, and check on the status of the blurry vision? It's all back to clear-as a bell. Wouldn't it b' nice, instead of all the above, to have a console command "player.dispelalleffects" as one could with player.dispelallspells? Blurred eyesight does not seem to fall under the category of diseases /powers/ abilities or blessings. Maybe time for a rehacking of the old "lt. conditions" : fear/ giddiness /itchiness/ blindness /nausea etc that were an integral feature in the old SSI games.
  2. Update: I re-inserted the old Galaxy FX5500, and hey presto- no slivers. I then (successfully) installed Directx 9.0c from the ~2008 Galaxy NVIDIA CD which didn't seem to care whether there was a newer DX 9.0c resident on the PC. Replacing the 7600 card, running the driver installation from the Galaxy CD (with the extra tweaked option of "conformant texture clamp") and the slivers have unfortunately, returned. So its likely the 7600 is a dud. Such a pity a big corp. like NVIDIA has no general testing program for 3D cards. Is it because of lack of competition I wonder? Shame that the play of this well-done game with the better card has to be marred by the perseverence of these hideous slivers.
  3. Hi there Spex: Windows XP SP 3 Intel Pentium 4 3.0G dual core w. 2G RAM GeForce AGP 7600 GS 512M driver: 6.14.13.0142 Shader model for DX 9.0: 3_0.ps_3_0 Oblivion Script Extender v0020 GOTY Oblivion & mods sit on my H drive Macron 350W Power Supply ("Graphic card functionality reduced to insufficient power" on startup/shutdown hopefully only accorded to extra power consumption on startup/shutdown) Grizzle: I am having a problem with quasi random slivers appearing 3D render display. The slivers act as invisible walls, and can appear anywhere in the game. Also some streaky/missing text in scene changes/ dialogue. The sprites, music, audio, and game interface / dynamics are (to date) fine. I suspect memory fault on card, but neither NVIDIA nor Havok provide a (small) test for this. Ran Dxdiag, ver 9.0c ok, OpenGL Extensions detects OpenGL 2.1.2, but no ICD registry entry, Have disabled all mods, no change, Have reset to v.low quality in options no change, Have turned off all effects, sliders in-game, no change, Tweaked NVIDIA control panel, no change, Tried some tweaks in .ini file, no joy. Notes: The slivers seem to persist in areas where there is at least one building, "height" and/or NPC's. They consist of dithered textures similar to that of a nearby structure. Along with the streaking/ missing text, it might indicate some problem dealing with refresh of pre-rendered frames. Directx might also be suspect, but will post developments or changes when doing a clean install of Windows 7. Extensive googling has produced no similar problems, except that someome with this model of card running on Ubuntu had some lines and polygons appearing on one side upon exiting the sewers. This was cured by an upgrade of Wine! Oldblivion crashed before blitting the Bethesda logo. Aa a matter of interest I installed OBGE_Core-30054, but the game crashes before the Bethesda logo as well, no warnings.txt created. This is because the 7600 GS & GT have a problem with shaders 3.0 (as verified by RivaTuner) Any clues?
  4. Hi, Using TES4EDIT to clean "Francesco's Optional New Creatures", getting a (red) conflict with "Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items" This is from the latest (large download.) Wrye Bash reports it as: Detected 1 dirty mods: • Francesco's Optional New Creatures Add-On.esm: • UDR: 0 • ITM: 5 • Oblivion.esm: 01E5EB • Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm: 01E66E • Oblivion.esm: 032657 • Oblivion.esm: 0343AA • Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm: 01E66F See attached reports. Needs to obsess about potential CTDs etc? Also cleaned Francesco's Optional Leveled Quests, no apparent problem, but still contains errors (error file almost 600kb, too big for here.) Can TES4Edit help? Thanks

  6. Hi, I have a similar problem, and when the choice of birthsign arises with Uriel, the description of the various signs lose random letters/words as I scroll through them. Rescrolling often produces the same missing words. Also occasional missing letters / words in subtitles. Possibly software engine issue with non-persistent refresh on font display. i.e. fonts are splashed on in frame 1, but the algorithms are not refreshed, only screen image, to save computation. I run my monitor in 60Hz, (any higher gives me a headache :( ) maybe this is the culprit. -{or I am Marie of Roumania} Hardware issue possibly? I'm running with an old AGP NVIDIA GS 760, with the insufficient power message on logon / shutdown. The card automatically underclocks itself, so might be a drama. I still have yet to finish the tutorial :{ Running OBSE with a couple of plugins as well as the attached (thanks Wrye Bashe): Do you run a combination of these?
  7. Hi there. I attempted to clean the (benign) "1 ITM, 0 UDR records" for "Weapon Expansion Pack for Oblivion Nthusiasts.esp" with TES4edit according to instructions, but no errors were picked up and the mod was not altered. No backup of the esp was created in the Data Folder, either. Wryebash still reports the same error for the file. Needs one continue to obsess?
