[GUIDE] Manual Cleaning Skyrim Master Files
neuroghast replied to Deleted133263User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Hi. First of all, thanks for the guide. I'm having a weird issue, though. Inspired by NORDIC SKYRIM guide, I uninstalled my SKSE (via the .exe, and then manually deleted what was left on Bethesda/Skyrim folder). After installing it again and running it for the first time, I tried your guide to clean the master files but the plugins list to the left was empty, as in this screenshot. After taking this screenshot I saw I had all the previous mods installedm but even after uninstalling and deleting them to go for a fresh new modding with NORDIC SKYRIM I see the same screen. Any ideas? Can something be done? Thanks in advance! EDIT: My SKSE is not the steam version, I managed to make it work running the SkyrimLauncher.exe instead of the Skyrim.exe. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue. -

No problem. And good thing you fixed it! What was your issue after all? Just post it here as it could be someone else with the same problem. -
Interior cells REALLY dark even without Darker Nights and ELFX
neuroghast replied to neuroghast's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Hey, thanks for your reply! But are you sure this tavern is just like a regular Skyrim tavern? You can see some candles atop of those horns, I think it should be a little lighter hahah I remember playing Skyrim on my PS4 and having houses, taverns and some other interior cells that where no way as dark as this  Anyway, I tried ELE and it didn't help much. There's a weird thing I totally forgot to mention at first, but it's something that makes me believe it's mod related. When I load a game, the interior cells look "normal" (at least, what I'd expect them to be) and a second later they get darker. I guess this sequence of screenshots illustrates this better than I explain: https://imgur.com/a/OPLvqfN I was too slow to take the first one, as the interior was slightly brighter a milisecond earlier. It's not game breaking by any means, but I get kind annoyed when I finally try to roleplay a good character and I'm forced to go to gloomy taverns and shops. My DB Khajiit mage would be much more at home in places like this haha  EDIT: I started a new character and was messing around in 3rd person view until I realized there a strange shadow/line following my character LOS wherever I go. I don't know how to record a video, but this screenshot sequence might be enough. Note that the time is almost the same, so it's nothing to do with the sun moving in the sky. I tried to use the tree and the tree stump to show how it was following me around. That's REALLY weird! -
Skyrim SE wont launch with skse64
neuroghast replied to SophisticatedMama's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Yes, that's the correct method. If you are certain the SKSE64 launcher is inside the Skyrim folder and you are using it's .exe to launch, I don't have much else to help you, sorry. Have you downloaded your version via Steam? Maybe this could have some effect on your issue. On the bright side, you are using so little mods that, if this is related to any of them, will probably be pretty easy to solve. Good luck! -
Pretty much title. I have LOTS of mods installed, among them Darker Nights (1.7p7) and Enhanced Lights and FX (couldn't find the version). Don't know how smart it was to have both at the same time (probably not much), but now I'm having this issue. It's pretty ok to find a dark cave, but not so cool to stop for a drink on a tavern like this. Outside everything seems fine. Please note that those screenshots were taken AFTER deactivating, reinstalling and whatnot both mods. Actually, when I reinstalled ELFX I was CTDing every time I tried to load or start a game. :psyduck: I don't know what other mod could have some influence on this. Maybe some that affects weathers? I'm honestly lost (in the dark). Here's my pretty extensive load order. Note that some of the plugins are deactivated (indicated by the zeros). Is this some residual issue of the mentioned mods or some other thing I have going on my load order? Is there any way to fix it without reinstalling everything? Any shed light on this matter (ok, this is the last one) is much appreciated!

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the replies and sorry for late reply. I got tired of checking mod by mod so I deactivated them all and, after that, activated all that I REALLY liked and/or thought were important. It worked! :) Even better that it's not a small ammount of mods: https://imgur.com/a/EhIuS Really glad that mods that adds new lands are working just fine! Using Beyond Skyrim, Falskaar and some others with no errors so far. Now that the mission of knowing the problematic mod(s) is much easier, I'll try to identify it and hope it helps someone! Thanks again for all the replies and tips!

A quick update: Tried to run Mod Organizer 2 to see if I could gather any useful information, as it's pretty boring to deactivate and test mod by mod. When I started SKSE via MO2 I saw a message in the end of the log implying some files haven't been found: https://imgur.com/a/TFl8z Is there any way I can extract some useful info from this error messages, logs etc? Also, I read in this topic that, if using NMM installation order matter, which is pretty bad for me, as I installed stuff and was hoping to organize them later via load order. Is that so? From the topic, by user tjacks84: I'm starting to ponder if I should clean all my mods and start again. If so, is there any guide to do so in the proper order? I'd prefer to this via NMM as it's more practical, but if it ends like this I'd not mind to do so via MO or any other software that does the same. I found this STEP guide but it wasn't very useful as to which order should I install stuff via NMM. I'm still investigating my mods, but the sooner I know about things I asked in this post, sooner I can decide the best course of action. Thanks in advance!

Totally understand this. Lucky is I don't have any "serious" save file, as I was just messing around to test mods where I could. I was hoping to have some way to deactivate all mods inside a category at NMM. Let's say I have 20 quest mods, deactivate them all and suddenly Skyrim is at least launching again. It would be easier to, then, investigate those 20 files instead of my 200+ mods. I'll be investigating this tonight, so if I can point a single mod or mods that are conflicting between them and stopping SSE to start, I'll post it here so it can help others!

Thanks for your quick reply! - I'm still using SKSE64. I'm not really sure it's the 64 version, but if it's the only one for SSE, then yes. - Yeah, my computer can handle it just fine. But I didn't know there was a limit. Is this from NMM or Skyrim limits it by default? - I did check the interaction between the NPCs mods, but I'll be honest and say I didn't DOUBLE check. I thought any bad interaction between them would result in a NPC not showing up, some faulty conversations or whatever, not the game not starting :( About your SKSE64 recommendation: if I can't launch the game via the original launcher or the SKSE64, doesn't it mean it's a problem with something else? I'm not trying to disregard your answer, just looking at another perspective. Also, I'm genuinely curious about the issues SKSE have (besides your old CTD). BTW, I used NMM to install everything. Is there a way I can deactivate a full category there? This way would be MUCH easier to identify if it's a specific mod (here's hoping). Anyway, I'll be checking again those mods interactions and report back.

Hello! I'm having almost the same problem, except that my list of mods is WAY bigger (I've played it on PS4 and just bought this PC, so went totally nuts with the mods lol) I was installing and testing then, but when I finished it all and used LOOT, the game doesn't start (through the vanilla launcher and SKSE). I thought it could be some overwrites to the .ini file some mods included (remove borders and remove the bethesda video after launch. Restoring it to the default .ini didn't help). Surely this list is huge, but any tips or hint would be really appreciated. I know asking this may sound lazy, but I thought it would be best to ask to more experienced people before I have to resort to deactivate and test the mods one by one! Here's the load order: P.S. I thought would be best to post in this topic to not clutter the forum, as I imagine this kind of request is pretty common. But, if a mod says it's not the right procedure, I can open a new thread. Just lemme know!
