  1. It's my first time around the modding block, and everything was mostly going well until I installed my ENB, which has not only bunked up my F4SE, but I don't think it's working right in the first place. On top of this, the recent pets update has no doubt broken other mods I have even worse. (Worth mentioning, I have probably 60-70 mods installed, along with NMM and FO4Edit.)

At this point, while I likely could salvage what I have already to make it function, I think it would be wise for me to just start over from scratch. This would also let me move my game out from the x86 directory, another big reason for my want to reinstall. I think that's part of why I'm having issues in some areas.

So, is there anybody out there who can give me an idea what I need to do to ensure a complete, clean uninstall? Because I know just clicking Steam's "uninstall" button ain't gonna cut it.

Note, while I haven't actually started a playthrough yet, I have messed around with some limited menu settings.

  2. It's the only way to be sure.

... Anyway. I'm thinking before I continue going forward with my troubleshooting, since FO4 recently had that update, which no doubt has broken my F4SE (Which was broken anyway because of my ENB. I think.), I'm thinking it's best if I nuke everything and start from scratch. Especially now that I have a better idea on what I want and how I really should go about getting it done.

So! With F4SE and FO4Edit both tied into my directory, and a laundry list of mods installed in the data folder, what are the steps I should take to ensure a clean reset?

  3. Well, that's unfortunate. Hopefully there's a video or something somewhere that can explain to me what all the numbers mean.

On top of that, my ENB I got installed also isn't functioning right. I have the files and everything set up exactly how the instructions said, but it's just spitting out more errors, about stuff that it can't seem to open, or something. I dunno.

  4. Okay, well. Now there's a huge list of errors popping up. I'll try and interpret what it's telling me.

Several NPCs from Tales from the Commonwealth, a bunch of their faces aren't loading because they're not in the "human" preset.

Something about Unused Data from the Medical Protectron in Robot Home Defense.

Laundry list of navmesh errors in Bob's Diner and Stairs, Ladders and Ramps.

    Scripting issues in Unique Uniques.

Thematic and Practical... contains subrecords. No clue what that means.

Same as above with Settlement Objects Expanded.

Not sure what a lot of these mean, and I'm not sure how to fix them.

  5. Alright, FO4Edit is up and working. As far as I can tell, it's got nothing trying to explode my system as is.

However, I have another issue. I've got Nexus Mod Manager installed, and am ready to choose file paths. Now, I already have mods I have installed manually in my Data folder, and I was hoping mainly to use NMM to activate and manually move my plugins around.

Am I able to have it manage that for the mods I already have installed? And if so, where should my pathing be set up? Lastly, if this is not possible, would I need to uninstall and reinstall all my mods? (Which I think would be a problem, since I'm fairly certain I need to disable them first, but can't since, again, my game crashes on trying to access the in-game mod menu...)

  6. So today, I downloaded and installed the Useful Crank, Lore-friendly Holotapes, Pre-War Binoculars, Weapons of Fate, and Laser Bolt FX mods. I already have around 50 other mods installed on my game, all of which have so far had no problems. I've not done any playtesting yet.

Since I tried to load the game and go into the mod menu and activate those plugins, the game gets as far as "initializing" before it crashes. I have uninstalled all of the mods I installed today, and am still having this problem. It's the first problem I've had yet.

  7. So I've just now gotten into modding my Fallout 4, and for reasons that aren't important I chose to install all my mods manually. So far it's gone really well... I think. There's just some things I'm not sure about.

For instance: Some mods have these fomod files, some have files full of images or .jpgs, and others have things like single .xml, .ini, and .dll documents laying around too, and I'm just not sure if I should be moving these files into my game's data folder as well, or if it's fine not to worry about them.

And, specifically, there's Laser Bolt FX (For Fallout 4), which has just a wall of .dds files that I've not seen any other mod have. Those I would need, wouldn't I?
