  1. Are you clicking on the CK when it goes into "loading so much crud that it looks like it froze mode"? That can cause windows to think to broke when it really didn't.

If your crashing while its loading and not touching anything, not sure what the problem would be there. I've had crashes AFTER loading but not during....so far.

If windows is saying "I think this program stopped working, should I shut it down?" tell it no and give it an extra 2-3min.

    Specs for me are:

    Windows 7 64-bit

    8gigs of ram

    2.6 Quad Core AMD

    2x 2g Raedon HD 6950

    (Dual Screening in crossfire mode)

  2. I'm experimenting with this now.

There seems to be a bug with skin tone layers defaulting using a mod that alters the settings on a NPC. Causing the NPC's skin tone to go to a generic skin tone no visible warpaint.

If I figure something out I'll let you know.

If anyone else knows something, do tell!

  3. The only things I've had problems with is installing new versions of SKSE and removing mods that don't use ESPs.

It is handy though since you can run SKSE from it with out having to make a short cut or diving into the directory.

Bethblog: @ CanadianMojo - Not today, it will be next week.

  5. The first game to be release on a friday in the last what 10 years at least?

Only reason it was friday was because friday was 11-11-11 which was good for marketing.

  6. ^ And that's a problem why? If legitimate console modding got started, for one, we'd never have to deal with "CAN I MODZ MAH CONSEL" threads again. We'd also get a lot more users, and a great deal of respect from the console crowd.

I support console modding 100%. And always have.

There is no issue with it at face value. As long as PC modding doesn't also get locked to a single official mod distribution channel in future games. It ties back into the charging for mods, if that happens on BGS games in the future, then that scenario becomes more likely.

I highly doubt Sony/Microsoft are going to allow user created content on their systems that they don't first QA test.

EVEN if they did it would be M rated only mods, you'd still get threads of people complaning "whyz cantz I haz nudez modz?"

  7. Hmmm, so creation kit next week? Since Bethesda is an American company, I kinda doubt they'll be working this weekend. (I don't think they even work weekends to begin with)...

Excuse me, but would you care to state clearly what you mean by this, before I get my back up about it?

Office companies don't usally work on weekends. Video Game companies tend to be an exception to this when they are in crunch mode.

I doubt bethesda is in crunch mode over the CK (Sad Panda).

  8. For example, You may not license the Contribution to a third party on an exclusive basis

Was the only line in that aggreement that had me worried for a moment. But its just saying that mods that you submited to Steamworkshop can't be then at a later date made exclusive to another third party group.

You could make an exclusive transference to another party when ever you want, the thing is the contacts you made while being the copyright holder would still be valid, ie the contract terms you agreed with SW would not be invalidated. what I think they mean is that under no circumstance after you upload can the license you grant them be voided. But that's pretty standard.

Yep. I'd say they are being pretty resonable. I think the 25% of profit rate for contributions sold for a fee is normal for software sold on Steam too. Which considering they are doing all the leg work of Taxes, Advertisements, collecting the fees, paying Vendor costs (Visa, paypal, etc etc) is a pretty slick deal for a mod to a game you didn't make.

  9. For example, You may not license the Contribution to a third party on an exclusive basis

So there are no problems with uploading to Nexus, and if you still want to make money off of your mods you could do so via a donations account.

  10. Reminds me a lot of NWScript, which is a good thing. Say what you will about the game, but the modding tools are quite powerful there.

Yay, we have objects?! This should dramatically cut down on OMG CODE REUSE scenarios. Looking at the syntax, perhaps we even have recursion? That could be fun...

Talking as someone who has used TESScript for several years, I say that they changed it dramatically. (External code management using your own IDE, for one. I smell an Eclipse or NetBeans plugin in the not too far off future, which should be interesting).

I would LOVE to be able to use Eclipse.. but I'm hoping that the CK compiler will be good as is!

    Edit:

I watched the preview and I was impressed. The game trailer for Skyrim was cool, but this... this preview is EPIC! The CK seemingly has everything that was missing in previous kits... I hope it won't be released before the 12th, that's when I come home from Rome, but I guess I'll just take my laptop with me just in case :D

It peeves me when people say this. Why?? So that nobody gets a head-start on you? What does it matter, really?

In another thread someone said that they better not release the CK during the superbowl because it'll put the american modders at a disadvantage. :wallbash:

If modding is anything like MMOs, about 20 of the mods I might want to make will be finished and uploaded within an hour of the CK's release. Some people are that crazy about these things, and have absolutely no lives/are lucky enough to have free time at a convenient hour/have all of the resources they need ready in advance and have already planned out exactly how everything is going to work. So yes, a SINGLE day's headstart might be big deal.

Edit: Though maybe applying MMO logic to modding isn't a particularly good analogy. I started about two years after the release of Oblivion, and couldn't run fallout on the computer I had at the time, so I've never really been "at" the release of one of the APIs.

If some one comes out with the mod you wanted to make. Just make your mod better than theirs.

  11. They mentioned a new scripting language called Papyrus, does anyone know where I can begin to learn more about it while waiting for the kit?

    http://sleekupload.com/uploads/5/thm/papyrus_thm.jpg

It's definately good to see you can use external programs for scripting now too.

Looking at that picture,it doesn't look like they changed much. If anything its just more Java like than it was before.

On a interesting note, judging from the comments in that script that appears to be part of the Butterfly Script.

  12. http://www.bethblog.com/2012/02/01/first-look-creation-kit-and-skyrim-workshop/

The Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop (mods.elderscrolls.com) are nearly here! To get PC players ready for its release, watch our preview video and check out a new diary from Production Director Ashley Cheng.

As much as info on what the CK is like is a great boon over radio silence; I'd much rather have them just release the CK insteed of doing this PR tension bulding crap.

  13. I also am having this issue just with skyrim nexus though.

all other nexus sites are working fine.

I to can get to nexus through a proxy and images load but can not obviously login and am blocked beyond that point.

Is it possible out of the blue after you change your servers my isp blocked just skyrim section? If i was blocked I would imagine the entire section would be off limits?

If I use a tracert to www.tes.nexusmods.com I receive a trace but when I use tracert www.skyrim.nexusmods.com it is unavailable

I am able though to use a tracert to the direct ip on either section tes and skyrim and that works

I have flushed my dns and hard refreshed nothing has worked. i have also attempted 3 browsers.

IN addition to this yesterday skyrim nexus worked fine for me but last night some time I only have access to the site but no images or functionality

Its "HTTP:\\skyrim.nexusmods.com" thats why the tracer didn't work. The old URL links to the new from what I can tell.

In other news it seems what ever DNS along my route to the server has cleared it's cache I can see things again wootz!

  14. I'm having the same problem. The actual Nexus site is completely broken. No images work nor does it seem most of the java boxes are working either. I cannot even navigate to a mods Download links.

I've tried clearing my cache and no results.

I just used a proxy server and it works fine so it MUST be a problem with ISP. This is a sad day =( How am I supposed to get them to fix it?
