  1. One question to ask when playing a game that requires usage leveling for skills. Does the rate at which skill is gained decrease on higher difficulty ratings?

Because it should since the amount of times I have to hit something to kill it jumps dramatically on expert com paired to adept.

Thus you can get to level 20 easily in the game before you even finish exploring whiterun hold.

Question I have is there any scaling of leveling? If not I think I might be better off playing in adept mode even if it is ridiculously easy at level 1-15 so that I don't level too fast thus going from iron to dwarven armor in a matter of a few hours.

  2. Its a simple analysis of these equations.

Witcher 2 = PC only Launch = Amazing Graphics

    Skyrim = Multi-platform = 2005 Hardware Limitations = lack-luster graphics

There is only one way that I'm ok with the dimmed down graphics and thats that in order to improve the perceived graphics they added more detail to the environments i.e clutter and critters.

The PC at the very least should have a Steam tool which lets you choose an option of Bit type .exe i.e 32bit-64bit

I have 8 gigs of ram with the app running I got 6gigs of ram available. I'm also told that it doesn't really take advantage of Crossfire, which means its mostly only running on 2g of video ram which when I'm crossfired has a max of 4g.

Skyrim Graphics Limitations = sad panda .....

  3. I actually sent an email to their VP of Content 2 day ago regarding my file (Alchemy Assistant), with no reply yet and it's still on their site. Note that they're owned by IGN - a US based company. They probably wont even bother with it until they receive C&D letters.

Should just throw together a fancy looking word doc as a C&D even if it isn't backed by a lawyer just to get their attention.

Or better yet, start calling their corporate offices.

I'd start off asking if the operator (assuming its a person and not a machine) knows who to contact about publishing/copyright complaints.

Otherwise ask to speak to Peer Schneider the Publisher and SVP of Content then bring up your unauthurized publishing complaint.

  4. Ah I was right! I was fighting mages and dragons last night and my shield didn't really feel effective. My Nord was getting insta-killed by frost bolts!

Good to know that I'm not crazy thinking that it seems resistances arn't working.

I'd like to know if there is a fix for resistances as well!

or better yet a 1.0 roll back....lot of things are breaking from shelvels to the physics system....

  5. Apprently Steam wants to take the Nexus's Niche on Bethesda Mod hosting?

Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You’ll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.

Rather than have to create a brand new from scratch hosting service they should have just teamed with Nexus for a integrated system rather than having two seperate systems.

  6. The wagon is just a break in story. If you talk to the NPCs they all talk about how its almost impossible to get goods in and out during this Civil/Dragon War. The ONLY reason they are there is to make it easy to get to a city you've never been to before.

They should just get rid of them, add it to the list of things for a Hardcore Mod =D

  7. Try this from the official forums:

If you're having trouble running Skyrim after today's small Steam patch, please try the following:

    1. Right click on the game in the Steam library and select Properties

    2. Navigate to the "Local Files" tab

    3. Click "Verify integrity of game cache"

Also note that verifying your game cache will reset your SkyrimPrefs.ini file. If you are manually editing settings in that file, create a backup prior to verifying the cache.

Did you try this? <-- Darzoul

  8. I'd really like to see a number of features implemented for a Hardcore Mode for Skyrim.

1.) Slower skill gain, its so easy to level up in the game, which is said since all the enemies get better gear and abilities faster because of this. A good way to slow down the progress of the game is to get one of the non skill buff guardian stones.

2.) Rare weapons are rare. I.E If possible it would be nice if steel isn't common at levels 1-10 seems that as soon as I start my adventure in Riverwood I'm already finding steel weapons and banded iron armor at times. Would make the game more interesting if ONLY bosses had a CHANCE of having a rare weapon type for one's level.

    Hardcore Navigation

3A.) Remove Compass - I've seen this one in other topics. Would be grand to remove the compass and its icons and replace it with an actual compass the player has to look at. (Still no icon hints though.)

3B.) Real Map - Turn the map into an book object the player opens to show the map that came with the game. No "You are here" icons or hints as to where to go. Only the Icons for locations and "Cleared" indications. I like the idea being able to get lost in the woods someplace! Makes exploration more interesting! Would also make the clairvoyance magic more useful....

3C.) Disable Fast Travel - Turn Fast Travel off.

4.) Tough Dragons, I think dragons could use some health buffs to make them a little more tricky to slay.

  9. Rumor has it the Cyrodil and Morrowind provinces are already in the game just not populated. Best method would be to attempt to import oblivion assets into skyrim i.e plants, trees, rocks, etc etc and have them imported into the game.

Sadly its highly likly that the world cooridnates are differnt from the oblivion ones. Though in theory if you do the math you can have them converted. Thus being able to import location data on various items. However, this all highly dependent on the fact that the cyrodil/Vvardenfel areas are the same scale as they were in their games.

Summary: It would be cool to have the ability to return to other provinces. However it would would take the work of a dozen level designers working for months to complete either of the provinces. Thats not even counting building NPCs, quests Monster spawns etc etc etc

Lets wait on the creation kit and go from there.

  10. As a temp fix you can use the console commands to change appearance.

    Hit ~ to open console

    type "showracemenu"

    hit ~ to close console

WARNING: CHANGING RACE WILL CAUSE SKILL DAMAGE. Only change your apperance.

  11. To those whom feel the need to use Logic based on reality to determine if they should have explosives keep in mind this is a FANTASY game. haha You don't need to use logic to rationalize a mod.

Some primitive hand cannons could be a fun edition to the game. It really depends on the level of control the Creation Kit allows. We know it was possible for Bethesda to make a FPS shooter out of the oblivion engine, but then they can stright up mod the code if need be....

I think a more logical first step for modders would be to add Light and heavy crossbows.

  12. If I was a developer I'd rather deal with making fans a bit fustrated (even though it really doesn't matter) about god-mode children than deal with the flak from Media when they get board with current politics or there is big shooting.

Lets be honest without selves. Killable children? We ignore all the other holes in the logic of the game and focus on something thats just silly.

Other things to tackle for realism besides killable children:

1.) Gold weighs zero. I'm pretty sure a bag filled with 3000 coins would weigh something.....

2.) 300 lb weight limit, I'd like to see the man that can run in full plate armor carrying 200-300lbs of loose gear and fight in combat.

3.) Fast Travel, magicly ariving at your destination safe and sound without meeting any resistence makes allot of sense....

4.) There are WAY more bandits than there are people in all the cities. I'm pretty sure its like a 10/1 ratio. I'm pretty sure the bandits could have formed their own nation....

    etc

    etc

    etc

    Summary:

Just re-upload the video later. I'm sure it was just publicity control. Lets help them maintain their rep so we can get more great games from them.
