Changing some stuff in Skyrim without mods?
ilikecheese1337 replied to DustinC86's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Open console (the key to the left of "1", usually ~ or `) Type "player.advskill [whatever skill you want] 99999999" without quotes (only use quotes for a phrase with more than one word) If you need more perks, "help [perk]" without quotes then "player.addperk [Perk ID]. Use Fn+Up/down Arrow to scroll through IDs returned by the help command. Changing armour values is very easy to do in the Creation Kit. Read the Basics tutorial on the CK wiki first, then open the CK, load Skyrim.esm and Update.esm, find the armour you want to edit, double click it, edit the values in the window that pops up, save as .esp. -
In no particular order: Dragonbone Ebonsteel Armour Castle Grey Halls of Dovahndor Dragon Falls Manor Companion Vilja Ultimate Follower Overhaul Deadly Dragons SkyUI (of course)

I second Realistic Needs and Diseases. You can adjust the rate at which you tire, get hungry and get thirsty from ingame and it's not too intrusive.

Mage problem with the max difficulty
ilikecheese1337 replied to reptail012's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Get Apocalypse Spell Package, Phenderix Magic Evolved and Better Magic. Use dual-cast Shock Orb (from Apocalypse) as an opener (massive damage to full-health targets) and finish off enemies with Phenderix spells. Congratulations, you have gone from one of the weakest to one of the strongest builds. -
What is your most memorable Dragon fight?
ilikecheese1337 replied to LordSarcasm's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I use Deadly Dragons on Insane settings and Ultimate Follower Overhaul. I was outside Fort Dawnguard with Serana, J'zargo and Jordis when a Magma Dragon and a Storm Dragon attacked. I called Odahviing and ran frantically around to dodge the meteors and lightning strikes (it's not fun being on the business end of Storm Call) until my Shouts recovered and I could use Clear Skies and make some headway. The fight took over an hour. -

You haven't tried to load the save, so that won't be the problem, but I'd still advise a new save. Run BOSS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6) to get your load order right, and if you still can't open Skyrim: 1. Make sure you don't have any mods that require DLCs or other mods that you don't have. An .esp looking for an .esm that doesn't exist is a sure-fire way to make Skyrim keel over. Also make sure you don't have mods that conflict with one another. 2. Uninstall all the mods, load Skyrim, see if it works (if it doesn't, I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall Skyrim) and make a new save if it does. Now install your mods a few at a time, running BOSS for load order, until you get the crash. Then you can narrow it down to the mod causing the crash and diagnose the problem. The mod author should help. Good luck!

Unless you've used some things while making your NPC that aren't part of the original game (for example, if you've made some new textures or meshes for your new NPC) then you don't need to do anything. If you just pulled up the CK, made a new NPC and edited its features in the CK and placed the NPC somewhere in the world, then 6KB sounds about right. You can send the .esp you use in the CK to your friend and it will work for her if she just puts it in her Data file.

Epic Fantasy Player Mansion/Home
ilikecheese1337 replied to Toddheezee's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm not keen on the Spirit King idea. Very lore-breaking. However, I agree that the amazing house and castle mods out there all have great unique features but none of them have them all. I hope this comes to something. -

How big is your save, and is it stable?
ilikecheese1337 replied to jazzak25's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
My saves are currently around 10-16 MB, depending on the save - the 6MB increase happened somewhere between Dawnguard and Dragonborn, but I've no idea where exactly. Either way, they're both stable, but to ensure safety I'm replaying the DLCs from the 10MB save before the increase. -
Download CK, open it, click File>Data, tick Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, and the .esp of whatever your mod is, click "Set As Active File" when the mod you want to edit's .esp is highlighted, click OK, then find the spells with spelling errors in the object window (use the tabs at the side or click All and use the search), double click to edit and make your corrections. I think some spells will need you to edit the spell effect descriptions, but I'm not sure.

How to texture water or liquids? Tried every tutorial.
ilikecheese1337 replied to noveltyh3ro's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I think the Dawnguard DLC has lava/molten metal in the Aetherium Forge. You could use that or copy and edit it. -
^ I agree - basically, Tamriel is stuffed unless they can band together. The Thalmor also have political power as well as military - the Khajiit are indebted to them for the Thalmor's claim to have fixed the Void Nights and the White-Gold Concordat basically hands them most of the power they'd have if they did take over the world.

Hello everybody, The great work of the modders of the Nexus has finally inspired me to get off my metaphorical lazy backside and make my own mod. As I have no experience I'm going with a player house mod, which shouldn't be too tricky. I do, however, have some questions. In order of importance: 1. Where in Skyrim should I put it? I'd rather like it to be fairly close to a city (preferably Whiterun or Solitude) for convenience, but also in an area that looks nice. The obvious location is Lake Ilinalta, but that's overdone in my opinion. 2. Is there anything special about building exteriors that I should know about? 3. How do windows that give off light depending on time of day work, especially with mods like Realistic Lighting Overhaul? The section in the Creation Kit website isn't all that informative. 4. What stairs, in your opinion, look best? The Solitude stairs would work best, but they're hard to fit in. Thanks.

@above: A dynamic economy mod along those lines would be amazing.

That's Neville Chamberlain style action - yes, the Thalmor are omnicidal quasi-Nazis, but we can reason with them! The Thalmor are the biggest threat to every sentient being on Nirn with Alduin, Ancano, Harkon and Miraak out of the way, and their actions, when compared to real-life history, are simply too dangerous to sit back and let happen, despite the Empire's incapacitation. About the only possible political solution is for all other factions to unite against the Thalmor, and fat chance of that happening. It can't be done, but my favourite the creative solution for the enterprising Dragonborn is to challenge the Emperor to a duel, come to an "agreement" with Ulfric (which may or may not involve threatening to feed him to various dragons) and use your reputation as the Slayer of Alduin to enlist the dragons against the Thalmor. It's far from perfect, but as the Empire recuperates, so does the Dominion, and I can't think of another way to crush the Thalmor before they destroy reality.

I think you also have to add Dragonborn/Dawnguard/Hearthfire.bsa to the SArchiveList line and SResourceArchiveList2 line.
-
Make one up yourself, there's no law against it. Try fiddling with an existing word or if you must invent one from scratch keep true to the style, short and punchy words.

Mirrak's bug. Is there any solutions?
ilikecheese1337 replied to wrt418's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Try reloading the save, if that doesn't work disabling and enabling Miraak might, then if all else fails advance the quest with the console. -
When a Bethesda game/DLC isn't bugged, that's when you worry. The modders will patch it up, give them time.
