  1. So, here I am, using the amazing, recently-released CB Rogue Armor, which despite its faults (very high poly count, crashes if blood decals are on) is very well made. However, I've decided that I wanted to change up the look a little bit more. I've already modded the shorts to be less latex-like to match the rest of the set, but now I've decided that I think the set would look better if it had pants/leggings/etc. instead of shorts. So, thinking that armor/clothes made for the same body set as the Rogue Armor (HGEC) would fit together, I copy-pasted something from another mod. Lo and behold, here is where I begin to run into problems.

It turns out that everything on the Rogue Armor is indeed the same as the HGEC body, except for the part of the leg below the knee. In order to make sure, I copied the HGEC legs from another armor set and placed it over top. The only part of the set that has any clipping is the boots. Unfortunately, said clipping is majorly noticeable. Now, I tried to open the rogue set in Blender to try my novice hand at it, but here's where I hit another big road block - Blender refuses to load the nif file. I don't mean it churns up an error message; rather, it takes an insane amount of time to load the mesh. I sat around for an hour and a half before giving up on it since the load bar was stuck. I've loaded other nif files into Blender before, so I think the problem is just the poly count is wayyyy too high. Could a solution to this be to copy the boots to another nif file and import it, or is that opening a whole new can of worms?

If someone could give me some tips here on how to proceed, that would be very appreciated. Also, here's a direct question: how would I load a "reference" model into Blender to help me shape the clipping piece over it? Edit: Nevermind, I feel stupid for asking that one.

I realize that fitting a mesh to a body type is difficult but it'd be nice to learn how.

Edit: Actually, after looking at the meshes some more, I decided it would likely be easier to mod the leggings to the rogue set, not vice versa.

Here's another question: How do I copy+paste once I've made one half of the leggings not clip? I've fixed up one side via adjusting the vertices but I don't want the two sides to be mis-matched. The mirror function seems to work perfectly until I import the mesh into NifSkope, in which the mirrored side clips. It's like it's not importing the changes of one side into NifSkope, or it's auto-smoothing one side of the mesh, or something similar? Edit2: Erm, now the mirror function isn't loading into NifSkope at all...how can I just copy the one half? Why is this so unintuitive? >.<

Edit3: Okay, so I think I've got it figured out. The mirror function won't apply unless you remove "multi-user data" whatever that does. I got it to export to NifSkope just fine. Some tips would still be appreciated, though, since I think I'm going to end up using a different pants mesh than the one I just spent a lot of time modifying already...

Last Edit: Okay, nevermind, disregard this post. I finally figured it out after about 5 hours of work.

  2. Mine would have to be O'malley from Red VS Blue. Deliciously over the top and maniacal, yet somehow deadly. Not to mention the fact that his most notable form is when he takes control of a pacifist.

I seem unable to really think of many villains that stand out...I'm sure I've read a book with a better villain but my memory's not that great.

    Edit: Here's some more:

Kain and the squid god from Legacy of Kain.

Nightmare from Soul Calibur. Despite the fact that he has little to no real backstory, there is no denying just how awesome he is.

Sovereign from Mass Effect. Shame they had to ruin it by giving the Reapers a physical, killable form rather than leaving them as omnipotent destroyers.

  3. Great thread idea you have here. :)

    Video game/internet related:

    I like people who aren't graphic *****s.

I like people who play online games and act as nice in-game as they do in reality.

I enjoy playing as female characters...for some reason. It's certainly nicer than a generic musclehead.

I like modders and designers who are willing to release something for free just for the fun/principle of it.

I like games/mods that have interesting styles for clothing/armor that manage to be good-looking without being overtly objectifying (aka skimpy).

I like games and stories that are interesting enough to spark philosophical debates, despite how nerdy it may be.

I like game companies, moderators, admins, game masters, etc. who have a sense of humor and aren't just in it for the money.

On that subject, I really enjoy parodies that are witty and not just degenerative.

I like games and companies that are willing to break the norm, like any of the genre-founders or quirky games like Psychonauts or Bru[uuuu]tal Legend.

On that subject, I like games that let you play as something besides a human or elf.

I really like how Oblivion is still the best-looking game I've ever seen once mods are applied, despite the graphic *****s saying that games like Oblivion and Dragon Age 2 have terrible graphics.

I also really like to read and write big posts and rants [as you may have guessed if you've read some of my posts]. No, seriously. Debate is fun and interesting.

    On a different subject entirely:

I like rainy days, much more-so than sunny days or (uhg) cloudy-but-not-rainy days.

I really like symphonic and neo-classical metal, the kind that actually takes some skill to play and still sounds good.

I love being able to play along to music on guitar. On that subject, I also dislike playing in front of crowds...(talent show...*shiver* At least I got some fans.)

I really like people who can smile once in a while and be optimistic rather than cynical (I wish I was the former, but I'm not quite the latter either).

I am sort of an advocate of "art for art's sake" - I enjoy beautiful art, and I don't believe that every story, painting, or song has to have a hidden meaning. Indeed, often a meaning is conceived by the viewers rather than the author. Basically, art doesn't have to have an innate meaning, and each viewer has their own point of view of what the art represents. Look up "Everyone is Jesus in Purgatory" on TVTropes to read more about this.

    I like peace and quiet.

  4. Seeing as the N64 came out around the perfect time for me as a kid, I played OoT a fair bit. I never did get very far, though - I only started getting good at video games as a teenager, for some reason, despite the fact that I started playing video games when I was 2...I also tried Majora's Mask but did terribly at it. Redeads need to stay dead, gah.

Also, this video is relevant (contains minor language):

  5. I have to respond to something I saw in this topic...

Just because a mod is labeled as "adult" doesn't make it mature. That's like saying that Family Guy is mature. It isn't - it's immature humor, directed at an adult audience.

Skimpy armor mods and sex mods aren't mature. Most of the people who use them likely aren't even adults.

The word "mature" implies that, not only are you an adult, but you are also responsible and tolerable. It doesn't mean that you like to load up NPCs with H-cups and look at 'em jiggle. Mature people respect others and don't do childish/adolescent things - at least, not often.

Please, stop confusing "mature" with "adult." Note that I'm not supporting or crying out against adult mods here (although my personal opinion is against adult mods, but I don't complain about it - I use a few tamer "adult" armor sets, plus body replacers, myself anyway).

  6. I didn't read the rest of this topic, so this is in response to the title:

Alienware is only worth it if you want to pay hundreds of extra dollars for a shiny case. Build your own computer or get a weaker computer then upgrade it. Get mid-range components at good prices (high-range is a waste of money since the price will drop in a few months/years, and mid-range is good enough to run anything at max or nearly-max [Crysis and Dragon Age 2 are the only two games I can't run at 100% max on my Sapphire HD 6850 at 1600x900]).

You don't need a computer that has the newest top-of-the-line crap. The sound card can be pretty much anything, as you'll only need a good sound card if you work with pro music. As long as you stay away from integrated GPUs you'll be fine. Also, make sure any processor you get is up to snuff (preferably dual-core or more, with at least 3.0 GHz total; you can overclock both your CPU and GPU for added power).

The only reason you'd need an amazing GPU is if you have a very large monitor. You only need a good anti-heating solution and power supply if you use power-hungry components or excessively overclock.

However, if you have $1400+ to spend, go right ahead. At least you'll be future proof...until the next console comes out and new games require new types of graphics that are unsupported by the current generation.

  7. because you are a murderer. you do not feel remorse. you do not feel pain.you are a cold blooded assassin. their deaths were necessary in the uncovering of the true traitor. lucien was a stepping stone towards your gaining of power.

Don't panic, he still exists but in the guise of Sheogorath/Mister Burke. He's like Elvis - he's not dead, he's just hiding!

  8. Here's a Shivering Isles party:

1006. Sheogorath knows how to make Hungers and Dark Seducers look cool in his realm compared to the other realms.

    968. Some people in Cyrodiil get confused with gender sometimes when talking about someone else, sometimes refering to a female as a 'he'.

1007. In Sheogorath's realm, everyone believes that you're female. Everyone. Incidentally, that makes the Dark Seducers and Golden Saints that much kinkier.

1008. Cutter is a creepy lady [although surprisingly attractive despite being non-modded] but you will love her long time for the gear she can make you.

1009. Blind orcs [he's blind in my game, anyway, he uses Ren's hair] can somehow see what you look like and can also blacksmith like a pro.

1010. Not having a cheese party is a celebration.

1011. It's possible to run through the countryside completely naked [i did it for the run speed, honest, that ebony armor is heavy] and the guards won't bat an eye.

  9. I have the HGEC H-Cup body with Ozmos Hi Res skin, hair & face, and BBB and Women's Move animation - which are all working perfectly. My question is - why do all the female NPCs have the exact same body type as my character, as well as having the BBB animation? I was in Makhor Cameran's Paradise and there were some of the followers walking around topless. Then I noticed that everything I had done to my character had also appeared on them. All except for Women's Move animation, and while my character has that, they do not.

Is the only way to change this to install a mod that changes the NPCs walks, clothing & body types independently of my character?

Body replacers currently affect EVERYBODY, but I hear there's a mod in the works to change that. Animations can be player-only if you use Mayu's Animation Overhaul or if the mod uses a specialanim (which can be glitchy).

Besides, the place is called Paradise. You really think Cameron would be above having some topless servants?

  10. This is the OMOD script:

    If VersionLessThan 1.1.0

Message "This mod must be installed by OBMM version 1.1.0 or later to prevent install script errors."

    FatalError

    EndIf

    IfNot ScriptExtenderNewerThan 0.0.12.0

Message "Realistic Fatigue requires Oblivion Script Extender v0013 or higher and has been disabled." "WARNING - OBSE REQUIRED"

    FatalError

    EndIf

    IfNot GraphicsExtenderPresent

Message "Realistic Fatigue requires Oblivion Graphics Extender v0.1.0 or higher and has been disabled." "WARNING - OBGE REQUIRED"

    FatalError

    EndIf

    LoadAfter "RealisticHealth.esp" "HrmnsOblivionScriptOptimizationv1.0.esp"

    LoadAfter "RealisticHealth.esp" "Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp"

Would it bug out if I just deleted the bolded bit?

  11. I've got everything working great now [except a few instabilities with my overclocking setup so that the game doesn't lag so bad in the Market District - seriously, it lags more inside cities than out in the wild with full graphics settings and lots of grass - but that's another story]. Thanks for the help, guys.

My OBGE is OBGEv2 (the version of it that came out right before the current update - OBGEv3 seems to be a bit buggy from comments I've read on here and on the download page) but it's renamed to obge.dll so it works with Realistic Health.

Guess I won't get Midas Magic if it's so overpowering (already have enough trouble killing necromancers even with silence).

I'm also not at all sure why my Wrye Bash was so out of date considering I installed it less than a month ago.

  12. right ugh i did it but in the priory undercroft, there is a kind of floating piece of ground with the same door to the undercoft on it any help would be greatly appreciated thanks :) o dear lord and the floor is flashing ! i swear i did nothing for this to happen !!

EDIT: No worries i fixed it ! thank you so much for all the help it worked perfectly :D this was kinda fun, could anyone tell me how to get started if i wanted to do some basic mods? :D

For some basic tutorials, check the help wiki for the Construction Set. IMO, the best one to start with is My First Dungeon; it's simple and fun, plus it tells you a fair bit of basics about the editor (and the controls).

  13. Check out (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17032). Has links to other mods as well.

For light armors, the Nightshade set (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14999) is a fairly creepy-looking ninja outfit (works for both genders too).

I've seen some other pretty evil armor sets but I can't remember their names. Your best bet is to look on the Armor page of TESNexus and sort descending by downloads or endorsements.

  14. 1. You can update UOP by downloading the UOP Supplementals.

    2. Absolutely upgrade All Natural to the latest version.

    3. Is that the latest version of EE?

    4. Make sure you are using the latest version of Harvest Flora and not the one bundled with OOO, which has a nasty crash-causing bug.

    5. Aren't some of those plugins Bash-mergeable. Rebuild the patch and check everything where it appears.

    http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:Bashed_Patch

    6. What version of Bash are you using? It would've prompted you to deactivate mergeable plugins? Upgrade to at least Bash v291, and then upgrade to v294 when it is released. If you haven't already, download and install the Wrye Python 4a package before upgrading.

    7. You can upgrade Supreme Magicka, although you don't have to.

    8. Why do you have two health regen mods installed?

    --Tomlong54210

    Edit: typo

    1. Okay, I'll get it. Edit: Actually, no I won't, considering I don't own any DLC but it requires a DLC patch.

    2. What's wrong with the current version? It hasn't bugged out a single time. I mostly say this because you say "absolutely" as if it'll kill my computer.

    3. It probably isn't, but I downloaded it about two weeks ago.

    4. BOSS says that it has a bug with harrada, but I've yet to crash on picking a harrada. Plus, it says something about 3.0.1 being displayed as 3.0.0, plus I have the OOO beta patch (more like a "oh crap we missed some meshes in 1.33 here's a fix") which updated harvest flora, so I think that's fully updated.

    5. I'd rather not start merging esps...that could get messy if I need to disable something.

    6. For some reason I have Wrye 275. Just how fast do these updates come out?

    7. It would probably help but really I'd rather use Midas Magic...I've heard it doesn't play nice with OOO though.

    8. Realistic Health isn't a health regen mod. It's an OBGE addon. TTHealthRegen is the only health regen I have.

Edit: Uh...I noticed something weird. The Supreme Magicka on TESNexus is 0.66...my version is 0.89.

And All Natural has a major update and a patch...and requires the newest Wrye Bash. I really have no clue how to use Wrye Bash.

How do you uninstall an old version of Wrye Bash?

Edit2: Nevermind. Got Wrye Bash 293 and All Natural 1.31 working fine now.

I have to admit, I don't even know what BAIN is.

I'll just use the version of Pluggy you recommended I guess.

    Thanks for the help.

  16. Disabling LE should change it's price changes. LE's prices are only enforced by it's presence or the presence of LE Items. Perhaps, you didn't use LE to change the base prices? How are you installing Enhanced Economy, BAIN or OBMM?

Anyway, LE and Enhanced Economy don't change the base prices unless you tell them. To with EE, this is a matter of installing the optional price files, which requires Pluggy. Install Pluggy v132 or v125c or v126. Did you every use LE's alternative prices? Well, if you did, EE offer's those as well. Just press 'R' while in the inventory menu to change the price settings.

    --Tomlong54210

    I use OBMM.

Living Economy changed the prices without my consent. It's because it "reset" the prices via its dynamic gold system, ex. when you walk into an alchemy shop armor is worth 0 gold, when you walk out, it's reset to the vanilla values. I don't know why it does this. I have disabled both Living Economy and Living Economy - Items and the prices/weights are still off. Also, I reaaalllyy don't want to use Pluggy unless I have to because of the crashes it apparently causes (already have enough issues with random CTDs as it is, although recently they've gotten better). Unfortunately, the ONLY way for me to completely reinstall or remove LE is to remove OOO, because they're bundled into the same OMOD.

I know my issue sounds fairly petty compared to a lot of the other issues on here ranging from CTDs to textures not loading to things going missing to OBGE/Deadly Reflex issues galore, but it's quite hard to afford some of the high price caps on quests/houses that OOO puts in without having items that are high-priced in OOO like clothes, gold clutter, etc. Plus, the higher weight value on vanilla gear makes it hard to use some of the much heavier OOO items (ayleid weapons come to mind).

That, and I'm sick of having random mods crap out on me. I've been doing bug fixing and personal modding ever since I picked Oblivion back up 2 months ago to the point where I play it half as much as I fix it.

  17. Hm...earlier, I believed I had the most recent version of OBSE, but when I redownloaded it, another unrelated mod, the automatic version of Shield on Back, started working. Even if Enhanced Economy works, though, how will I reset my prices back to the OOO values? Disabling Living Economy doesn't remove its price changes.

Edit: Okay, so Enhanced Economy works, but the prices are still wrong - case in point, a normal fur shield is valued at 8 gold and weighs 2 pounds, while a worn fur shield is 12 gold and weighs 1 pound.

  18. This may get a bit...basic...but I do have to say, I think the double standards largely exist because of how humans used to operate out in the wild - one man with many girlfriends is seen as "successful" because, in the wild, one man is SUPPOSED to get multiple women pregnant in order to ensure humanity's continuation. Women, on the other hand, are seen as "unnatural" if they have multiple men, since such a thing is not a good idea before civilization came around. It's just a base instinct that has carried over. Also, keep in mind the very large double standards that used to exist before the modern day (and still exist in some places). Men used to hold all the power, women used to be married off and "bought" via dowry, etc. It's simply not natural for a woman to be the person in power by our most primal instincts.

Of course, I don't advocate double standards, but I sadly still have them. As long as two genders exist that aren't exactly the same (which is impossible obviously), there will always be double standards, because we're NOT perfectly equal, no matter how much people say so. For example, can you imagine a male cheerleader? Interestingly, I can't think of a single role that a woman can't fill that a man can. The best we can do is minimize our differences.

  19. I really, really want to say "Either" - which is what I voted - but, honestly, I prefer female lead characters. It's a quirk of mine, I suppose. My friends have even gotten annoyed at me for almost exclusively playing female characters now (even had one funny moment on WoW when a friend convinced someone that I was actually a chick..."Wait, you mean you're NOT a hot Korean girl?") It's not just because of the eyecandy (well, okay, usually - Oblivion mods tend to make this a bit difficult to not do for teh hotness, and I really like female Draenei...), but because male characters are reaaaalllllyyyy overdone. Just look at Mass Effect - why is the default character put on the marketing Generic Macho Space Marine #28952 for a story-driven game that takes itself seriously? Another case in point is Halo...the Master Chief has no background, only his overly-masculine testosterone-filled voice and his presumable affection towards Cortana (OK I probably made that last bit up but still). It might also have something to do with exploring the unknown, seeing as I'm male so obviously I have less experience with the female side of the fence, making seeing something from a woman's point of view more interesting (or I could just be using pointless pseudo-psychology here - who knows). Basically, I prefer story-based games that don't just include female characters as "The Chick" as TVTropes eloquently phrases it.

For something that's probably hypocritical, I'm also a firm supporter of not putting super-hot women all over the marketing for novels and games just to draw nerds' and frat boys' attention (Evony, I'm looking at you - no really, I am, I can't take my eyes away). It's a bad stereotype of gamers. We need a balance between hot and generic here, peoples!

  20. Edit: Well, since the website decided to cannibalize my post after attempting to edit it and turn it into a paragraph-less wall of text, my post has been emptied.

Anyway, to contribute to the topic, I will again state that my least favorite game was Battlefield 2. Bad hosting system, bad lag, bad cheating problem.
