I've searched for every variation on this issue I can think of, without success. I did find two old posts on different forums where someone had the same problem, but they didn't get any responses or follow up with their solutions. If anyone can make a suggestion or point me in the direction of a different thread or comment that discusses this, I would really, really appreciate it.
So, I've created some new buildings and want to add them to an existing location...in this case, Winterhold. I've added new static architecture to the landscape, added and linked the interior/exterior doors correctly and made them HouseMainDoorRefType when needed, and put a LocationCenterMarker in each interior cell. The navmesh hits the door on both exterior and interior cells, so NPCs shouldn't have any problems reaching the doors. I've created new locations and added the cells to them. My new interior cells are set to use the new locations that I created. My new locations have WinterholdLocation as their parent location, because the other vanilla shops in the town do.
As far as I can tell, based on how the vanilla locations and cells link to each other, everything in mine LOOK right. But here's my problems:
1) On the World Location Marker Ref/Select Reference button, I can't choose my LocationCenterMarkers. They are listed under the LocationRefTypes tab...but I can't select them in the Render window, and nothing shows up if I try to use the cell name and dropdown list.
2) Although my new locations are parented to WinterholdLocation (and they show up in the right place in the Object Window when I click on the WinterholdHoldLocation or WinterholdLocation dropdown lists)...if I open WinterholdLocation to edit it, none of my new stuff is included in the LocationRefTypes, Cells, or Actor tab. I actually think this might be why I can't select my marker in the first place. Is there some other way of parenting a new location (and its cells) so its references will be included in the vanilla location lists?
Potential causes:
- I did create the interiors by duplicating existing ones and completely changing or removing all of the vanilla markers and references...so that could be part of the problem, but I can't find any obvious reason why it would be. I'm testing this problem with a new file and a made-from-scratch interior now to see if this makes any difference (it shouldn't).
- I'm using Hearthfire in my mod, because one of the new buildings is a bakery. Again, I don't know why this would make a difference, but mehh...
Sorry if I've made this confusing. I can add a screenshot or try to explain more clearly, if I need to.
