  1. Oh hello, I also went to look up Domino. Was a really great horse and so beautiful. I have gone with Hashire this time (you can customize Hashire) but Domino will be one of my favorites always. I was going to load up Domino actually and give him to my follower. Oh so sad. :(

Thank you too, to the mod author.

  2. UPDATE: Well I don't know what happened. I went to my Profile (after messing around with a bunch of things in Vortex but then giving up) and suddenly it works?! I did a ~savegame (name) and was going to exit the game but decided to check the Load screen in game, and there was my save! I don't know what in the world I did but it seems to be working properly now.

Next time I make a new character, I will try a save before I get two or three days into my game. Vortex is not working cleanly yet for some reason, but right now I'm very happy with the profile and mod management, and I really love the interface. (plus I'm going to test out Stardew Valley with some mods later!)

I guess this ticket is closed. Thank you.

  3. Yeah definitely something is not working correctly with Vortex.

I followed these directions (again) from scratch and made an Avenie Two. I added ONLY MY LAST save.

    Vortex 0.15.2

What has always worked for me:

    1) Add a new game. Have a default set of mods selected. This is my "Master".

    2) Select the Clone option. Edit the title to reflect my theme, like "Mage". Mods selected are the same as your source.

    3) Make sure "own save games" and "own game settings" show green (selected).

    4) Go down to Save Games. Click "Transfer Savegame".

    5) In the "Import from" dropdown, select Global or your default profile. This may take a bit. All the save games you have should be listed.

    6) Highlight one of interest - not all.

    7) Click Import on that one save game.

8 ) It will ask you Move or Copy. I always select Copy, since I want to leave the default save games alone.

    9) Your new save game is added.

    10) Modify your mod list for this profile and Deploy. Should be good to go - but do make sure all plugins are enabled.

Then I Enabled the new profie and when I got in Skyrim, there is no new menu anything. I see all my saves and there should only be one, or if I go to Character Selection (T) I'm expecting to see something new there with the new profile I set up. It all looks the same and the games are not saving properly under profiles. I should not have to exit my game to load a game from a Global list.

  4. Thanks :) BUT! That's not the issue because, the SAME thing happens whether I do ~savegame, or Save the game from the menu, or use Quicksave. ALL my saves are off the main menu, with nothing in my Profile (except those starter saves at level 1). So regardless, it's still not working correctly because I have to leave the game and reload even my quicksaves or autosaves from the main menu, rather than from in game.

I have even tested the Avenie[Modded} game and gone in there and made a save and it shows in All Saves (off main) But no saves show up in the Load menu within the game.

    Any other ideas?

  5. Still having issues with this. Messed with it all morning. I may just have to deal with the fact that whenever I need to reload my game I will exit and load from the main menu, and that my profiles are not working.

  6. Hello!

I've researched this problem but still can't get this resolved. So....help please! :)

OK I have Vortex and SKSE. I have already started a game with my character Avenie before I got the hang of Vortex profiles. I was playing and doing ~savegame <whatever> like I love to do to keep my games saved.

Usually I can just load from the character and go. But I found out two days into my game that I must go out to my main menu to re-load my game. I know this is a profile problem because I've seen other people with it but their resolutions did not resolve my issue.

I have some screenshots. I have a profile Enabled called Avenie, copied from my Default profile. My Default contains all my saves.

I had physically copied some files to the Avenie profile directory under Skyrim saves. This is obviously not the correct directory PLUS if I save a ~savegame test in Skyrim the save still doesn't go to my Avenie profile.

So that you can see. Here is my Main Vortex loads SKSE menu:

Then if I click on All Saves this seems to be my Default Vortex profile (which somehow has all my last year's game which I thought I deleeted)

Then you can see if I select Avenie Modded, there is my stuff from the first day, and my autosaves only. But none of my ~savegame games.

What can I do to fix this problem, so that I can type ~savegame <gamename> while playing, and see all my games saved into the profile I have Enabled, so that I can load while playing (without exiting to the main menu?) Thank you for any help you can give.

  7. I managing without it but feel hobbled without some of the good mods for SKSE. I mess up a lot using my keys and switching weapons is a bear. I miss my favorite menu, the HUD that autohides the crossbar and looks beautiful because the entire interface is hidden. Also that nice mod that puts the time at the top with a beautiful seasonal graphic...I keep looking for it for the game time and it's not there...
  8. Oops I forgot to say something and can't edit my post. I did try Loot today. After messing around putting I. The setting to recognize SE, it made a sordid mess of my load order. It said my .Esps weren't loaded for some mods...I had about four errors and started question myself and my setup. I went to my game and got an immediate crash. I went back in to NMM, resorted my load order by hand (why did it out some of these mods here and not here?) And I went back in and loaded up fine.
  9. You know, that sounds a little convoluted. I'm probably doing things all wrong, but here's how I did it in Oblivion and Skyrim and what I am doing now.

    *Oblivion and Skyrim:

*Use your mod manager to get the mod

*Use your sorting tool to sort it

Open Wrye Bash and make sure it all looks good, no errors or conflicts. The Bashed Patch should be checked red if you moved load order or added new mods that messed with that order. Run the Bashed Patch and the box beside it will be no longer be red.

*Play your game as normal (via SKSE or normal entry)

With SE, and I could be so so wrong, but I don't really see a reason to run through Wrye Bash. NMM is really good now. It lets you set load order and see conflicts. It allows you to make profiles for multiple characters. And I think we can have a ton of mods with no limits (I could be wrong here.) Wrye Bash was the go to solution if anyone wanted one of those things. I don't see why I need to use it now.

So, for Skyrim SE I only have two steps:

*I load the mod in NMM

*I sort the Plugins tab based on my own kind of sorting method that has worked for me, via plugins tab in NMM. Character creation face body stuff first, environmental apps, houses in middle, textured stuff like the Rustic mod items, and at the end important things like game adjusting mods, like stuff that changes how skills are done, or messes with the mechanics of your character. If you play with your own load order, you will start to get a feel for what you want where, and will sometimes know which mods are causing problems due to load order. I always read the directions of mod, where they suggest load order, and what mods not to use theirs with.

It used to be much more difficult but I've loaded a ton of mods in the three days I've had my new character. The only problem I have so far is a bit of purple graphics on some small items, and others using the mod are having the same issue.

Please tell me if I'm wrong not to use Wrye Bash, but at this point I don't see any benefit of using it, unless you are so familiar and comfortable with it that you prefer it.

  10. Well wow. I see the distinction now. You know I am going to try the second file tomorrow and see what happens. Usually modders explain in more detail these things. I thank you for that great catch and your good eye. I hope it's true! Thank you.
  11. I started a new game using WICO. I like how my character turned out. However, it really breaks immersion for me when I take off a woman npc clothes and she's naked. And the men are not. It just makes me roll my eyes every time.

Is there a way that I can have underwear on my WICO woman character (and all women in game)? I know WICO uses UNP body. If I find an underwear mod for it, will the underwear "stick" when I undress or does it actually like clothing but in a ring slit (i.e. every woman still naked when looted)...?

Or would I need to try to figure out how to load the Oldrim body mods in this game so I can use the underwear version?

    Thanks!

  12. I don't know about the mod (sorry! I wish I could help!) but there are some starter ways to help increase your fps:

    1. Outside the game - don't open any browsers. Minimal programs only. Go through your windows services and stop and disable all the unneeded services. Like, on my machine, does Google REALLY need to update itself all the time? And Adobe? These things go out there and "check" for updates extremely frequently and they slow down your machine - and games. Don't allow your virus/malware checkers to run while gaming. They can start up while you're in game and just bring your machine to a halt.

    2. In-game: lower your graphics settings.

    3. Make sure you have enough RAM. More is better if you only have a bit, but there's a point where more doesn't help. How much do you have in your system?

There are other more meticulous things, but these are for starters.

  13. Also a good idea before you load a mod is to read the comments and see what kind of problems people are having. If they are having unacceptable tons of problems, I usually pass on the mod my first or second character around. Later, a problematic mod will be fixed, not fixed and stated that its problems can't be corrected, or you will have done a lot of quests and gotten your enjoyment out of the game so that loading a funky mod won't mess up a good character's progress if the mod flakes out.

I found a lot of stuff that I am using by going through what Jeir said, the most endorsed mods on Nexus, and using the Tracking list to track the mods I want to try. Have fun!

  14. Try both!

I love playing rangers. I love standing back and picking off from afar. I love sneaking and one-shotting a pin-point shot with my bow and arrows. I love poisoning my bow and watching the enemy wilt before he gets to me, dead from the poison. I love ranger gear (which can take a beating) and the array of bows and arrows. I really get into the RP of a ranger, like I always get an animal follower, and a modded house out in the wilderness.

Mages in this game to me are cool - I love their spells and stuff, but mages are easier to kill. Also the spells - they are widespread and steady. If your follower steps in front of your shock spell, the results may not always be good. The fire and shock just blasts everywhere and it's a sloppy, noisy kill. I like to see it happen with neatness and precision...which is why the ranger style fits me. But I have to say, that can also be an appealing aspect, just blasting everything away. It's full of action and color and the spells can be so powerful.

However, I think I'm gonna make a spellsword and try one out. The combination of mage spells plus armored fighting might be fun for me. Good luck and let us know what you pick. Take pictures for us!

  15. Yeah it sucks. Get Fraps for your good screenshots. I have two hotkeys - the Steam hotkey F7 and then my Fraps screenshot key is set to F10. The difference is amazing on mine. My Steam game screenshots are all vanilla, pretty sure. Takes it without your ENB or any other coloring/lighting mods you may have. But Fraps will take exactly what you see on your screen, in all its brilliant color. Have fun!

  16. I've kinda kept my TES games to the mods I most want. I use tools to keep the mod order correct. If a mod is funky, I choose to do without it. Sometimes it's about making decisions between two mods - which one of these two do I like better with this character? - when there are conflicts. I never used 250 mods together in Oblivion and played that for ages. It takes time to go through them, load ONE, make sure it works properly, then pick another. Don't load 10 at once and expect them to work. Stuff like that. Careful and picky will allow you to have a smoother running, enjoyable game. If you just have to try out more and maybe conflicting mods, then make a new character, start fresh, and load only the new mods you need for that one.

My irk is: people always blame Bethesda and say the game is broken, whatever. ALL games across the board have their particular issues. You hear the same in all forums across all games. "You know Bethesda (or insert any other gaming company here) (insert complaint here)" *insert sarcastic tone here* This is an amazing game and wow we can get amazing mods working in it, together, by different authors, most of the time. It amazes me why some folks expect any game to work flawlessly all the time. That's an unrealistic expectation and you'll just find yourself mad and venting on the forums about vague generalizations that folks can't fix.

(ha! scrolling right up I see that WolfPalatine said what I just said but in different words).

  17. I just did this a few days ago (exact commands as above) with a villager I wanted my character to marry. Very happy and he says all the time when I see him "Hello my love!" and "Back from an adventure, I bet!" I don't know if they all say that? Anyway it worked for me exactly like that.

  18. I am using ENB yes. No water mods, like I said.

Hi thanks for your tip. The ENB updating suggested by vlaka fixed my problem actually to where I now have vanilla-underwater and can see and fish. The darkness is gone. (thanks vlaka). I'm going to try sticking with the vanilla water for awhile, but when I can't stand it anymore I'll try your tip Bluesky. I like to be able to see far underwater because it's easier on my eyes and the terrain is beautiful, even though it's unrealistic to see so far and clear.

    Thanks for all the help!

  19. Hi all! I'm back into Skyrim after away for awhile. Having two problems:

    1. I don't know what happened but when I got back to Skyrim I'm having this problem with my water (everything was excellent before). I get in the water, go under, and everything's black. It's extremely disorienting and I can't see anything. If I am able to get deep enough, if I angle the camera just so, I can get a flash/glimpse of underwater but that's about it. I don't seem to have any water mods loaded, or environmental ones that mess with water. However, I'm willing to check it again and any other suggestions folks may have.

    2. Alt-tabbing - used to work great, but now when I alt-tab out, when I come back to my game, the entire screen is black. Pretty sure the game's still running because I hear music/sounds. I just can't see anything.

Any ideas about either of these?

  20. OK I did everything you all suggested and my own idea (making a stronger warpaint instead of too delicate) and nothing worked.

    So. Here's my warpaint

And here's what it looks like ingame front and side. Very very light.

@bellyache - I have no alpha channels and saved accordingly.

Am working with ...\Data\textures\actors\character\character assets\tintmasks\femaleheadwarpaint_30.dds --- replacing those two under-eye finger swipes of warpaint. Obivously something's working because I can see the changes in-game.

So. Why is it so light and what can I do to fix this? Thank you!

EDIT: Um wow. After looking at my jpg image it seems so grey against the black. I've amped the brightness of the white on the level to max. Let me try that and see if it works better. May have answered my own question. Will post back!

EDIT 2: Tada! That was the problem. I think if @theragman wouldn't have mentioned something about grey, I might not have noticed that problem when I posted my jpg image of the test warpaint here. Here it is: SIDE and FRONT

Now I can get to some real mod making! Woo! Thank you for all your help and ideas!

  21. Hi emeri00,

I don't know what your definition of more colorful is. Everyone likes something different! Here are my suggestions:

First try FXAA post process injector. It's an executable so easy and it all installs properly. I like Preset 2 because it seems realistic (a little too blue though so I mess with the sliders) but there are four presets you can mess with. One of them has more technicolor and you might like that one! It's easy to open up the tool and change the sliders and see the results right in your game! This mod alone makes my house in Riften go from bland to warmly colorful.

You may also like one or both of these: Enhanced Shaders and ENB Series by Boris V. With ENB you can fix your own settings or use one of the growing number of mods where people have already set their ENB settings to things from realistic, soft or crazily vivid and colorful. I would search nexus for ENB and just browse through the enb settings mods until you see something that's close to what you like and try it out!

If you decide you like FXAA and want also Enhanced Shaders, please read the entire Enhanced Shaders description and how to get that working with FXAA.

  22. OK Hi everyone :)

I wasn't able to get back in last night after I posted. Thank you for all your comments. I will try to answer as best as I can. (yes what @jet4571 said)

@cis Warpaints are totally white on a black background. I didn't think there was anything to mess with as far as color adjustments since it's pure white. I will still look into your suggestion though. (yes then what @jet4571 said)

@sk8on I have a very recent version of PS. Again pure white may not need adjustments like that? I don't know. I don't have nifskope loaded yet but I will do that today. I need it anyway, and anything to help make testing easier is good.

@theragman - oh yeah? OK I will try.

@sk8on again - hmm...that's possibly the files I was working with. That could be my problem. Those are the contour for the facepaints but not the real facepaints? Hmmm will look into that.

@jet I'm working with character facepaints, not NPC

OK Thank you EVERYONE. I'll work on this today and post back my results and if still having troubles will detail what I've done and post pictures. Good day to you!
