  1. So I took a few months off from Skyrim and Vortex to play Mass Effect Legendary and also to calm down from the frustration that Vortex has become. I am not sure what happened, but no matter who's tutorial I watch and followed to the letter, I could not get Vortex to work properly. FNIS would not work with it (I kept getting a warning about the path no matter what I did, and trust me the path was there.) so no animations. Also Vortex refuses to allow me to manually move anything. I follow the recommendation of the authors not Vortex. This was/is particularly frustrating since I never use to have any issue with Vortex. I had to redo everything since I had rebuilt my PC. Alas, all was for nothing as Vortex would not do what it is suppose to do and unfortunately my queries fell upon deaf ears even after multiple attempts to make contact. I am not sure what the issue is and after exhausting numerous problem solving avenues, I took a two month break. Today I tried again with a clean install of everything and of course it would not work. I could start the game but no animations, no ability to manually move items around to where they were suppose to be and endless incorrect warning that never were sorted out. So I uninstalled Vortex and unendorsed it. I am not being too harsh however, as MO2 is even worse than Vortex. It really is too bad that Skyrim requires Steam since Steam is the root of so many problems though nobody seems to want to admit that.

I have tried over ten tutorials from various authors and there is always the same problem with FNIS and Vortex. Too bad really since Vortex use to be so good which is why I switched to it in the first place. Hopefully for others these issues will get sorted out and they can enjoy this once magnificent mod manager.

    Cheers,

  2. Why does Vortex keep stealing the download function from MO2? I switched to MO2 because Vortex stopped working for me and does nothing but cause me massive problems. I have even signed out and Nexus/Vortex keeps insisting that Vortex is my mod manager of choice. WTH?

  3. First of all, the papyrus log is not a crash log. It can direct you to scripts that may have some sort of an issue, but it cannot pinpoint any source of crash. If you still want to know how to read what is in there, here are a couple places that can help:

    https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/4129-skyrim-interpreting-papyrus-log-errors/

    https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Papyrus_Runtime_Errors

Hey I already learned something new! Thanks much appreciated!

  4. I have a crash problem with my playthrough. I have a rather verbose Papyrus log, but unfortunately it makes no sense to me. Is there somewhere I can get help with deciphering the information? I have the mod list/plugin list etc. of course, and I have cleaned repeatedly which I have a good understanding of. I also used the features in Vortex to check for issues, however Vortex is on glue and I think is part of the issue. I used Wrye Bash as well which of course gave me different information that Vortex except for one issue (the .esp had been renamed) which really is a non issue. I would prefer to go to a site for this if such a place exists. I am looking for this help so I can learn how to find which mod the issues listed in the log are in so I can rectify the problem (loading item issues and missing files, and missing files from mods I do not have installed nor need as far as I know).

My other playthrough (other profile of course) I am playing has zero issues, but not all of the same mods due to conflicts ( 2/3 of the mods). Both games are approximately at the same point level and time wise, level 7-8 4-5 hours.

This is the first time I actually have the Payprus log working.

I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

    Cheers,

  5. I understand I may be in the wrong area. I searched hard before coming to ask for help. I have manually installed and checked all folders. I have added the lines to the custom.ini. I do use mo2 and not vortex but I didn't see a forum for that. I have a clean install with just CBBE and body slide installed. Uploading ss of file area that I matched with troubleshoot in CBBE. I have to leave for a bit so if more info is needed I will add when home. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I will give you actual help, unlike someone else: https://stepmodifications.org/forum/ try this.

    Cheers,

  6. Since it seems that what worked before no longer works now and what once was will never be again.

I am removing ALL mods down loaded by Vortex and from Nexus as now you can no longer use them.

    Getting errors like:

BLAHBLAHBLAH_Meshes.bsa is loaded by BLAHBLAHBLAH.ems, but is intended for use in Oblivion.

2 weeks ago everything worked fine and I changed nothing.

I have spent the last week trying to see what the problem is.

I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, the only time FO3 works is in straight out vanilla mode.

No mods, no patches, no nothing.

Thank you for ruining the experience.

I'll go back to a deck of cards and an etch-a-sketch. At least I know they work.

I had a very similar message to this today. Quite head scratching really. I have no idea what the hell is going on with Vortex at all with the crazy messages I am getting.

  7. I've been looking around but having no luck. Vortex has now thrown a cyclical rule error as above. Last weekend I had no issues whatsoever. Where in Vortex can I see the version I am using? Is there a force update button anymore as this appears to have been removed.

Clicking on the Cycle interaction window does nothing and I have even uninstalled some of the mods to test and the deployment error is still happening.

You can click on the 3 dots to the right of your user name and the one that is labeled about will give you the version.

  8.

the only dialog i get if i force cyclic rules errors is a screen where i can tell vortex to load a mod before or after another mod.

that dialog comes up any time i have a cyclic rule. i get no other diagram from cyclic rules on my mod page.

on my plugins page if i put a plugin in the wrong group and generate a cyclic error because of my group placement, i can move the mod out of the group into another group (almost all of my plugins are in default because i honestly dont care about groups that much).

other than that - i dont know what other diagram you're referring to.

On the mod tab, when I am installing mods, I get the message that there are mod cycle rules. When I click on the tab to get more information, a pop-up appears with this information Mod A> Mob D> Mod T etc etc. When you click on this, a diagram is suppose to pop up and it gives you the option to flip the rules. These are the same rules that are listed under the mod rules tab, only this just opens the effect mods and not every mod that has a rule. Thanks for the input though. Cheers

    THIS SCREEN?

    Or THIS Screen?

The second screen is the one that is not showing when it should after getting the cycle warning. The first screen always shows up when clicking the Mod rule tab.

  10.

    the diagram is for plugins

if you have cyclic rules in your mods you won't see that.

I am in the mod tab, not the plugin tab, and I can access the diagram when in the mod tab, that is where I am getting the cycle warning.

It could be a bug, maybe you should report it using the built in Report tool just in case, there was a bug found yesterday as well, so it's always possible

Okay I will do that. Thanks!

  12.

The biggest cause of Cyclic Rules is putting Plugins into Groups, (which also have their own LOAD BEFORE/LOAD AFTER rules), then trying to make a Plugin LOAD AFTER another plugin, that's in a group that LOADS BEFORE the other Plugin's Group.

    EX:

Group B loads AFTER Group A

You assign Plugin 1 to Group A

You assign Plugin 2 to Group B

You then make a rule for Vortex to load Plugin 1 (Group A) AFTER Plugin 2 (group B), but it can't because Group B Loads AFTER Group A, and you're telling it to load the Plugins in the opposite order of the Groups.

Yes I know this lol. This is not what the issue is. The issue is after I click on the mods listed in the mod cycle warning I can only open the diagram you get where you can chose to flip the rule between mod A and mod B once. The if the diagram closes as normal and there is still a cycle warning or I chose the wrong mods to change, the diagram will not open again unless I close Vortex and re-open it. Sometimes this works immediately and other times it does not. This issue is all with mods of the same type such as Body, face and hair which according to the mod instruction should all be in the same group. This last bit is just an example and I picked that category at random. The mods from other categories I have not had this issue. Just mods from the same type, and the diagram use to always open up when you clicked on the affected mods, at least as far as I can recall.

On the MOD tab, or the PLUGIN Tab?

What happens when you click the MANAGE RULES button in the top menu?

The issue is when I am in the mod tab. When I select the manage rules option, all the rules open up as it is suppose to.

  14. I am getting a message stating mod rules contain cycles. A very useful message and one I have seen numerous times before while modding. However, when I click on the mods that are in the cycle, I do not get the diagram that normal shows up. I can close Vortex, then open it and I can sometimes get this work. Any reason why Vortex is doing this? I do not remember ever having this problem before? This is suppose to be the easy way to fix cycle rules, and it is quite annoying to have to find each mod in conflict under the mange rules tab as this so much longer, and is so much easier to make it worse.

another issue I noticed was after flipping a rule to try and resolve the issue, when I finally get the diagram to finally open again there are arrows pointing both ways between mods. This is a tad bizarre since if a mod is loading before and you flip the rule, it should load after, and not be never with.

    Cheers,

  15. hey does anyone know if Vortex supports Banished? I know it was supported with NMM, but I never modded the game when I had that manager and I cannot find any info on whether Vortex does support it. I cannot for some reason get Vortex to recognize my Steam games, so I cannot check that way.

    Cheers!

  16. I have been having a hell of a time with SSE crashing when I am out and about in Skyrim. I have 100+ mods active one of which seems to be duplicate, weird, but anyways after I installed some Creation club stuff namely Four Seasons quest, I have had constant crashing when outside. FNIS has been updated and installed correctly yet when I go to move from one of my houses Skyrim waves adieu and buggers off. I have extensively googled the s#*! out of this issue but alas, I cannot find out what is going on. I have been using mods since October 2018 so I am not exactly skilled yet and used a tutorial to install FNIS as well as a few other mods mostly from Lovers Lab and how to install manually. Everything worked well until last night and now today it is even worse! PC is up to date, Skyrim is up to date, hell everything but my kitchen sink is up to date yet I cannot find the reason. Anyone have any ideas?
