  1. The idea of the death penalty it's that to avoid that one who have comitted a horrid crime and did not regreats to commit such act again.Put a radio inside his/her cell that's filled with inspirational words to regret those crimes. That's silly but the point is there must be another way to "punish" him. (besides death) In some cases maybe, but there is lot of case in wich death is the best way. what to say to a men that tortures and rape a woman for 3 days and mudered her in the end ,and his only regrets is have killed her before could mad her a angel? yes thats happened here and as the criminal is a minor he only gets 3 year of "social reeducation" (minors here don't get any penalty more than 3 years...) Only an example of an case that's not only show no-regrets but also a softlaw...
  2. Nor anything , but it isnt because that we don't try to punish the crimes (only put a very radical view of your opinion, please don't take me wrong). The idea of the death penalty it's that to avoid that one who have comitted a horrid crime and did not regreats to commit such act again. and it's not eye for eye, most of the death methods use for execute criminal are more merciful than the methods of the criminal used in their victimis @dezdimona Your post recall me the situation here in Brazil, where there is lots of "human rights " NGO thats only protects criminals never the victims. example: some years ago a buglar invide a house and raped a woman and her 12 y.o daughter during hours after that thei satbed their faces dozens of times, the woman dies the child survive with horrible scars. The criminal was arrasted and in the next morning it's found dead, hanged. Who you thins the human rigths NGOs defend the litle girl or the raper... yeah the raper... and some of them says the woman provokes the attack.... :wallbash: Not need to say this group is against death penalty too....
  3. No, you are thunder's god not time's god :whistling:
  4. Yes. The LHammonds post has the same thoughts i have in this subject. An further more there is case, like the Pee Wee Gaskins, in wich a criminal not only doesn't have any regrets but also continues to commite crimes inside jail (here in Brazil happens a lot drug dealers command their gangs from jail, criminal demmands money from perons thought fake-kidnnapping, or made /orderin contract killer...). So in case like this, no regreats and case of a hideous crime like raping following by death, torture following death etc i am a favor os death penalty.

  12. Yes the type of keyboard change the key to open console, the tilde key is only for the north-american (US) keyboards, for example my brazilian keyboard uses the ' key that's open the console you can try it or the key above the tab key. ( iirc it's the rule) btw if tell your's laptop branch maybe people could help you better.
  13. IIRC it's from Batlefield 2142
  14. Or not, if become Tachikoma and be so friend to man kind that's sacrifices themselves to safe a city. @OP Hal it's not evil because the AI as explained in 2010 he become crazy because some politicians modified part of his program with some conflictants orders, he was supossed to inform all data he aquired but the new program ordered to hide and lie. Thus leading to his behaviors in the travel. And don't forget the Asimov Laws. i gave theses exemples to show that AI thing is something new, and maybe because this a lot of people are afraid of it (what Asimov labeled as "Frankenstein Syndrome" ). So if it's tun against us? Maybe, If their inteligence and self-councious wold be in the same level ours (i know that you talked about "super-intelligence" but i don't think the first real AI are going to be in such level) so they would have the same level of differencies in behevious tastes, etc.. So maybe some of them would try to kill us or slave or simple theft us and take all the beer. Or maybe we will have some new friends . I mean the way some people the pcs i won't be suprised if some people treae the AI like close frinds or more . (yes Chobits scenario).

    ESRB ratings

As i agree with rating as a form of adivice , i don't like the form the ESRB do it. Sometime appears tha the people who work there are still in the seventeen century or want more power to decision then the parents.
  16. Diablo 2 , Starcraft, Warcraft 3 nothing more to say.
  17. I agree with animals use in medical research, without it the reasearch will suffer a long delay. Not to say about potencial negative side effects that is only discovered through animals tests. @Sharkul Most of serious research use rats or rabit by their small size and fast reproduction rate, so there's no use of endangered species in researchs ( except the fake ones like the Japanese whose hunt whales for food but claime that it's for research... yeah to make a better sushi maybe...)
  18. @rbrophy2 This won't work, the defences of our organism will see the implated cell as a strange body and try to destroy it. Take for example a transplant of organ the person who receive it must take a lot of medicine to avoid rejection by the body's defence cells. So to your example to have a small chance to work the subject will have to take lot's of medicine to repress his system. Something that will make vulnerable to diseases. And even with this this type of "injection" won't work, we already have billions and billion of others lifes cells in our body ( microorganism, the food, etc..) and we don't absorve their DNA.
  19. @Uncle Roe yeah you get a point, the human curiosity will "allow" us to begin with human genetic engineering. It's something we don't understand completely sure, but was the same thing with for exempla the first trys to create airplanes, the first vaccins. So back to the topic, i'am favor of the concept, that can be useful for cure diseases and even avoid it ( like for example cancer) about the enhance intelligence IIRC the history about we only use 10% of the brain is a mith, we use all of our brain capacity in different ways from person to person. and the only way to make us enhnce the Bran capacity or intelligence is make ours brains "bigger". Thas happens in the evolution, but the process may be acelerate with genetic engineering. But i'am afraid of a "Gattaca" scenario , where the genetic enginerring make possible knows if a person have tendencies for some disease and the health-insurance 's companies don't accept them, companies don't accept either etc.. Not to mention the possibility of dictator use it as new type of ethnical cleansing... Only to show how much we are in a ethical grey area.
  20. -Don't know about the Pip-Boy light and cused the game for not have flashlight ( the first three day of gaming). - Uses car as cover during a firefight. - Go to Graydith with a level 3 character with only a 10 mm gun with less than 40 bullest and a combat knive. ("oh it's only a few ants i solve this quikly as in the Springvale school".. whats they have firebreath oh boy...)
  21. Eventhought i like both The Pitt and Zeta i recomend Point Lookout, great storyline, one of the best NPC (Desmont), a different enviroment and crazy-mutaded hillbillys to fight!
  22. yes that the end without Broken steel (not a mod but a Official DLC that adds a new quest-line post-main-quest). There also some mods tha allow you to continue the game but if you intend to purchase Broken Steel (now that you know about it) be careful because their have a lot of compatibility issues. And you still load an previous save ( before the Take it back begins ) and do the othe quest. oh and BTW with Broken Steel the game becomes open-ended.
