Concerning the hardcore needs: You might consider allowing alternatives for Android like Cyborg (e.g. GITS) and Bioroid (e.g. Appleseed), these are either part mechanical/biological or enhanced biological. They still require food (possibly synthetic), water and sleep to function (more or less). You could still combine these with hardcore needs and being more consistent. btw Gynoid is sometimes used as an alternative for Android if the droid is female, more so if female features are added for aesthetic or functional reasons. As a side note: because Gynoid isn't a popular OS for mobile devices, it's much easier finding content related to those metallic beauties using Gynoid in you search instead of Android I just noticed ;-).
