The last pre kvatch save I had would have lost me two in game days. I just went in and killed all the stuff and advanced the quest through the console. Savillian was still running around in the dark shouting to himself. I also noticed he wasn't wearing any pants either.

I'm actually having a problem on the main quest. I'm liberating Kvatch with the Matius guy. We got all the civillains out of the chapel and went through the other side to stab some things and after everything is dead he just runs around waving his sword around and I can't progress any further and I've already made certain everything is dead except for the two dremora that respawn on the top of the castle and throw lightning at you. Whenever I try to speak with him it says he's unresponsive and whenever I try to go back to a previous save he attacks me...

Everything is working fine so far. There's times where I load the game and all the map markers and inventory stuff has no text, I just fix that by quitting and restarting. Also Oblivion is doing the thing where it crashes whenever it encounters a new sound/texture/enemy etc but that only happens once in a while. I can play for about two to three hours before each crash and I usually take that as a sign that I need to take a break. There is a mod that causes oblivion to flat out crash as soon as the program starts. But apparently I'm not allowed to talk about that mod on here so I'll just not worry about it for now.

Well I did myself some googling, and the google told me that Shivering Isles adds bone arrows, but at that point I didn't have shivering isles added to the mix yet, and I had some archer mod that throws all of the different bows and arrows that can be found in the game into the loot lists or something. So I figured, what the hell, lets install SI and see what happens. So that's what I did. I ran the game again to see what happened and all my stuff was missing from my inventory and the chests. Not so much missing but there was no text. Quit > unofficial SI patch (didn't have the official one for some reason) > internets > download SI patch > SI patch fail > google > uninstall unofficial SI patch > accidentally uninstall some important stuff I needed to run oblivion > back up data folder and save folder > uninstall everything ... Now I'm at the point where I've installed oblivion again and I'm ready to restore the data and saves folder. Let's see how this goes... PS: sorry for the way the post is typed out, it's been a long day...

Just started another playthrough on Oblivion. First time this is being played on this computer and I've got a bunch of different mods this time 'round. I was just fighting with a whole bunch of goblins in the starting dungeon and one of the goblins was an archer but it's bow and arrows were replaced with a big yellow blob labeled 'wtf I'm a missing mesh'. after killing it I checked his inventory and it was carrying a Bone Bow and Bone Arrows. I've never encountered this before. What gives?

It would seem that I've found everything that I've been looking for so far, except for the one that lets you bury treasures. I know I used to have one that would let you use shovels found in the game to bury things and there were some things already buried around campsites in the wilderness, but whenever I got my hands on a shovel I could never use it to bury things. I can't remember if I ever found one that worked or not. I have a question, however. Jog's Thievery in Imperial City mod has always been one of my favorites, but I can't really bring myself to download it again if there isn't going to be a part two, which seems to be the speculation in the comment thread attached to that mod. What happened? Did Jog quit before the second installment was complete?

Thanks for finding T.I.E for me. Still searching for the one that adds the vampire town underneath the IC. One entrance is a well in the Arcane University and there's another entrance just outside the town walls. I already have M.O.E, I don't remember being very fond of the alternate travelling methods though. I think there was another mod I used that disabled fast travel and added all the other stuff. I just remembered the other day that there was a mod that let you bury treasure with shovels or something...

I'm looking for a mod I think was called thievery in elderscrolls or something, it was commonly referred to as T.I.E. I'm not sure if I found it on the Nexus. I found it the first time on the modders site, I do believe. It did a bunch of things to change thievery in the game, but the one thing that stood out the most was that it changed the sewers in the IC to where they were all connected, and there were multiple secret entrances and exits into and out of the city. I'm not sure if it was the same mod but it also added secret entrances into the other towns by use of rope ladders. Another one I'm looking for, I'm not sure which mod I had that added this, but it added a well in near the arcane university that led to an underground city full of vampires. I'm also looking for a mod that disables fast travel, and adds guild guides, mark and recall, and carriages into the game for transport. Sorry for all the requests. My mods were all lost when my back up HDD died, so I'll probably be adding a few more posts to this thread in an attempt to get back some of my favorites.

If I've installed Shivering Isles before Knights of the Nine will I be unable to play Kotn due to the fact that the SI patch is more recent? That seems to be the case.

Deleting the Oblivion.ini file worked. I cna haz Oblivion now. Now I have something to distract me from WoW every now and again. -

I never uninstalled it. It's been sitting there waiting for me to come back to it. I'll have to try the reinstall of OBSE thing. I've already patched the game with the most recent patch. So do I still need to do that or can I just get away with reinstalling OBSE? EDIT: @bben: Just now reading through the link you provided. That actually sounds like a good idea. Seems like this method would nip any problem in the bud. The analogy might be off but it sounds like going after a fly with a rocket launcher. Luckily I like rocket launchers. -
A couple of months ago I took a break from Oblivion and was playing a bunch of other games instead. A couple weeks ago I come back to my senses and go to satisfy my Oblivion fix. I try to launch the game and it won't launch. I get a black box in the top left corner of the screen and then it crashes and I get an error report window. I figured it might be some problem with one or more of the mods, seeing as I use a lot of them, so I un-checked all of the mods and tried to launch the game* through the splash menu instead of OBSE Loader. I got the same problem. I tried to patch the game and was informed that I already had the most recent patch. I just can't get the game to run. I have no idea what the issue is but I've been dying to play Oblivion. Some of Giskards mods give me CTD even before the beth softworks screen finishes. The Elder Council, The Necromancer, Kingdom of Alamar(sp) basically the only one I have installed is Origin of the Mages Guild. I haven't tried Kvatch Aftermath yet seeing as I haven't even touched the main quest at all except for getting out of the prison sewers

so what happened to Giskard? Some of his mods I'm using work just fine. Origin of the mages guild, and the manimarco mod work but the elder council, the necromancer and kingdom of almar all CTD. They get as far as the bethesda softworks screen and the music starts skipping and they ctd, don't know what it is. also, is there a werewolf mod that allows you to toggle your transformation? for example, say I'm a werewolf, but I need to meet a character, or do something at night, could I choose to not transform?

So I was checking the nexus to see if I could find any updates for any of the mods that Giskarduk created (origin of the mages guild, etc) and upon searching, they're not on there anymore where did they go?

thanks for finding that, do you know if there is a mod that adds mark and recall spells? that's one thing I really miss from Morrowind.
