playable orc/ork race.
SomewhereInTime replied to Gunnolf115's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
For this franchise, you mean Super Mutant. I think the idea has been contemplated, but it would be a lot to make the a race that's not a remodelled human. (I think? Actual modders would know more.) -
Custom race generic NPCs
SomewhereInTime replied to SomewhereInTime's topic in Fallout New Vegas's GECK and Modders
Thanks for the reply! I'll have to get to work on it. -
I have a custom player race, and I'd like to add it to the NPC population. Not as a particular character, just rolling around talking about nuclear winter, Primm's new sheriff, THE SIGHT OF YOUR OWN BLOOD!? and such. I was initially hoping there would just be a way to add the new race to a list the game picks from, but it seems every race in every role is a separate entry and I'd have to make a new entry for Goodsprings settlers, melee Powder Gangers, Fiends with rifles, Vegas gamblers in suits, armoured Rangers, etc., etc. Is that the way? Also, the race in particular is ST Robot Race and used a script to give the robot a head and "gloves" for hands, makes them a undroppable quest item and equips them. Can that just be attached to NPCs too?

Player as companion mod request
SomewhereInTime replied to kucingkucing's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Here's two mods that are in the same ballpark, so maybe probing them might be helpful: Fallout 3 Save Import Utility and Lone Wanderer Companion Adds a companion .esm. Feed the utility a Fallout 3 save, it makes an .esp to turn the companion into your Lone Wanderer: " Name, level, SPECIAL, skills, perks, sex, race, face, hair, hair color, and head parts are imported". Groovy Followers for Fallout 3 A variety of companion fun, but the relevant part is creating clones of your character. -
Sexchange applied to everyone
SomewhereInTime replied to fvsk's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Thank you! > Seems like it would need something more ... like homophobic reactions to realizing they changed sexes. Ramdomly distributed (though faction-influenced) attribute that applies a reaction such as "confused", "horrified", "pleased" in some way. -
Sexchange applied to everyone
SomewhereInTime replied to fvsk's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
> What I think would be better and more feasible , would be to have a weapon the player could deploy at their discretion to change npc sexes There are two mods that do this for Fallout 3: Transformation Ray https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/15765 Gender-Bender Ray https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/10392 So, presumably, porting them to NV would be possible. Even more fun would be isolating the effect and applying to a variety of weapons. Sniper shots? Gender Grenades? (I have no idea how it works.) -
Thanks!

Meddling with the sky
SomewhereInTime replied to SomewhereInTime's topic in Fallout New Vegas's GECK and Modders
I see, I thought there was a blue sky with weather added. Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look at it. -
Changing skystars.dds turns out to be easy and the results are entertaining, but is there a way to do the same at daytime? Looking at the wiki forums suggests the answer is simply "No", but is that it?

I have a load of little mods to refill bottles, adjust a few lines of dialogue, see the Mysterious Stranger more and such, but I'm nowhere near the limit. Is there a benefit to merging them?

Unmoving Plaid for Benny's Jacket.
SomewhereInTime replied to SomewhereInTime's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
I wonder, is there a way to attach a flat texture to an object to appear between the object and the camera, in the shape of the object's silhouette? -
Unmoving Plaid for Benny's Jacket.
SomewhereInTime replied to SomewhereInTime's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Thanks for your reply! It's certainly beyond me, I'm guessing the shader would apply a sort of chroma key/greenscreen effect to the outfit? -
You've probably seen "unmoving plaid", where an animated character or object has a pattern that's just shown as a flat texture and doesn't change as they move. Here's Stan the salesman from Monkey Island to demonstrate. It doesn't really happen for 3D characters because the texture is applied to their surface, but it was worth doing it for Stan in 3D to get him right. I think it would fun if Benny's check jacket had the same effect, but how could it be done?

Sounds fairly simple if you know how. I don't, but I'm poking about the GECK and the wiki to learn. It is part of the lists LootBrightFollowersEnergy, only used for dead Bright followers, and VendorWeaponsEnergyTier4, which is unused. I suppose if you added VendorWeaponsEnergyTier4 to CrimsonCaravanStoreWeapons,VanGraffStoreTier5 (or 1-4) VendorContainerCliffBriscoe, VFSMickSecretInventoryList and such it would show up. Am I right in thinking that Fiends would use it if WithAmmoNVPlasmaDefenderLoot was added to Fiend1WeaponGunNV and Fiend2WeaponGunNV?

I haven't seen any and thought it might be interesting, but I don't currently know how. There's some outfits with headscarves that could be a start for making such a mod.

Oil lamps and candles would be neat, but I suppose you'd have to make new models for them.
