  1. Ugh, that was it. Didn't even occur to me to check the default editor the .psc files. I don't remember even setting Notepad++ to be the default. Must have been years ago. Thanks for the help!
  2. I have seen it mentioned in other posts and I know the CK supports it since I can open a script in Notepad++ but I would rather have it open Visual Studio Code. I can't find anything in the ini files and all my searches online have not yielded anything. Is this possible and if so where is the setting changed?
  3. I cant thank you enough for your continued response. Honestly from what you have said it sounds like I should have been asking what is most important to look for in a card, not what card I should get. I know that my knowledge on the subject is lacking and I am sure that is readily apparent. I think I will do some research on the different specs of Video Cards and what they mean for its performance. Hopefully with more understanding of the basics I can have more confidence in the decision I make. As a final question, do you have an opinion on Nvidia vs. AMD, or is it more on card to card basis and cannot be summed up in such a simple overarching question. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
  4. First off thank you for responding. First thing which I should have mentioned, is that yes I do run with a good bit of texture mods installed. I try to avoid the highest resolution as I am aware of the performance problems but still even the low ones surely tax the system more than any of Beth's standard textures Secondly another thing I forgot to mention is that my MOBO is AMD 990FX(AM3+) which is what I assume you mean when referring to the 990FX and Z97. So it sounds like I really need both but if I had to choose one then I should probably go with the graphics card for now. One follow up question though, do you think I should go with a card, like the one you linked with 2 GB and buy the new AMD processor, which would put me $100 over what I was planning on spending but that's not horrible since I use my PC for about everything so its not just a gaming investment for me. Or should I find a graphics card with 3GB of memory for a little more. I am not sure how much of a difference that extra 1GB would make in terms of performance.
  5. So I am looking to invest in some new hardware to boost the performance of Skyrim. My current rig is: Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 12288MB RAM DDR3 Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti(x2 SLI) PSU: Corsair 850W So I am fairly sure, at least from what I have gathered from reading a lot, that my GPUs are currently the bottleneck. Also when testing Skyrim using SPM I find that I easily max out the VRAM on my GPUs, though they are still only hitting about 60%-70% of their maximum load. I have read however that Skyrim can be CPU intensive and I know that my CPU is getting on in years. Testing shows that it currently maxes out at 70% percent, though given the way Skyrim uses multicore CPU's this may still mean that I am maxing out the cores that the system is utilizing. So do you guys think I need to go with CPU or GPU. If it is CPU should I finally bite the bullet and switch to INTEL or would it be better(money wise) to go with the top AMD processor. If it is the GPU what would you guys recommend, NVIDIA or AMD. I have always been an NVIDIA guy since I had heard of lots of people having problems with AMD but I have heard good things about AMD over the past few years regarding their GPUs and I am open to switching. Also I have a budget of around $400. Thanks for reading guys and I look forward to hearing what you think
  6. More than likely it has less to do with the permissions of the folder and more to do with the permissions of NMM. I can't say for sure since I can't replicate the error but I would make sure NMM has administrator permission. I have had mods that would not install or would get errors in the NMM installers when NMM did not have admin permission.
  7. Thank you for linking that. I have to ask though why the upload limits seem to be different then the ones listed here. It allows you upload images up to 200kb in size and well over 65x65. Is that an incongruity or is there a reason for the difference?
  8. Oh well. Thanks for letting me know, saved hours of searching and experimentation that would have been wasted
  9. I don't think I explained what I wanted to do properly. I was trying to get the profile picture to be animated on the Nexus pages as well as in the forums themselves. Also the test picture was the profile picture. I just picked one that constrained to the 100kb size and that was roughly the same size as the max image dimensions. I don't know if you have any ideas about that but I thank you for the response either way.
  10. I was just wondering if there was a way to get .gifs to actually play on the Nexus sites. I have been able to get one running on the forum pages but on any specific Nexus site it just shows the first frame of the .gif I am almost certain that it is possible, or that it was at one time possible, as I have seen a few people that had running .gifs. I am also relatively certain that the test image I have used complies to the necessary parameters in order to be uploaded, I don't know, however, if there is another requirement for the .gifs to run on top of the upload requirements. If anyone has any ideas or could direct me to relevant information it would be much appreciated
  11. I see. I might be able to help though it wouldn't be for a while. Finals will have me busy for the next couple weeks. If no one else has produced something by then I will see what I can do.
  12. Your in luck one already exists:) http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/47099
  13. Been looking some into this issue and I just wanted to get a little clarification on what you want to have done here. Does it mater if the old file is deleted or not? Are you looking to make changes to the file itself or just the name of the file? If you can let me know the answer to these I would appreciate it.
  14. I have to ask, where exactly did the descriptions for each of the votes come from, because a few of them were hilarious, especially the one about the overhauls and the dildos. That one was priceless.
  15. I am actually very curious about this issue. I have often done scripts for it but I have been equally frustrated by the (necessary) security built into it. I am going to do a little research into the program and more specifically the function you wish to do. Hopefully some sort of solution can be found so that it does not violate the security of the program. If I find anything of interest I will let you know.
  16. You didn't mention whether or not you adjusted the game video options. Make sure that HDR is enabled and anti-aliasing is disabled. If after doing that it still does not work try keeping the enbinjector.exe running when you open the game.
  17. The layout is slightly different but there is nothing that I can see that the new version can do that the old one can. If you are in doubt you should probably use the combo version. It has an option so that it automatically loads FO3 and will never ask you to choose which game to load, so in essence it will be be the old version with any of the improvements of the new version, best of both so to speak:)
  18. Honestly you can use either one. Even if you want to switch later it wont matter since they both create their directories in the same location. If you choose to change later just point it to the same directory. Personally speaking, I use the combo version but that is because I play both games:)
  19. I would recommend FOMM for Fallout 3. The reason for this is that FOMM has always been the primary mod manager for Fallout 3, so what you are going to find is that a lot of mods that require installers are going to be far more compatible with FOMM then NMM. Also, with each update of NMM, more code is depracated and the likelihood that a mod that was compatible with NMM one version ago is no longer compatible rises. FOMM is far more likely to keep compatibility with your FO3 mods for much longer periods of time. The choice is yours of course but I see a lot of the most popular mods littered with people saying that NMM will not work with it.
  20. I was stuck for a few hours but I was finally back to get back in. Hopefully it will be resolved for everyone soon.
  21. I have NMM and FOMM installed and they run fine side by side. Also, the reason I use FOMM personally is because you can edit the install script and then test it without having to redo the archive every time you make a change, something which , sadly, you cannot do with NMM. NMM maybe great for a lot of things but FOMM is definitely more modder friendly IMO. I wouldn't want to actually install mods with FOMM though, that's where NMM comes in.
