  1. I actually got it to work around the time I edited my post-- I was using a version of the patcher older than my version of FnV. Don't know how I managed that, but I certainly didn't download anything from an "old files" section here on the Nexus.
  2. Hmm. I have the NVSE 4GB loader installed, though-- but now that you mention it, this does seem like the kind of thing that would happen if it wasn't working. There's not anything that keeps it from working with Steam, is there? Well, suppose I'll find out if there is . . . edit: had somehow managed to mess up the LAA enabled very, very badly. I'd imagine that's it.
  3. Just picked up NV ultimate edition yesterday, so my apologies if this is a known property of the game. Whenever I approach Goodsprings, I get a very peculiar crash: the game stops updating LODS as I come up close upon the town, and then right after I get to the first stop sign/intersection you see after coming back from Sunny's campfire tutorial (while sticking close to the bluffs on your left), the game will load them all at once and then hang up. Currently, my only mods of any scale are EVE, Project Nevada (with extra options and DLC support), NMC's medium texture pack, Ojo Bueno objects and securitrons, New Vegas Redesigned, Mission Mojave Ultimate +, Wasteland Flora Overhaul, and compatibility patches for all of those. (I also have replacers for beards and eyebrows, but somehow I doubt those are the problem.) Any ideas or fellow bug-sufferers? I know there are tons of people playing with all of these and more. Running all of this on a 2.3ghz i7, Geforce 650m GT (2GB VRAM), and 8GB of DDR3. Not the best, but it'll run F3 with NMC full + maxbumpmaps with SGSSAA and Ambient occlusion forced in Nvidia Control Panel* . . . I hope NV isn't really that much more resource-inefficient. (For what it's worth, I also found out that installing OjoBueno would do the same thing to me, resulting in an instant CTD when I tried to load the save right outside of Doc Mitchell's I had at the time.) *well, at about 20 FPS, but without much crashing.
  4. I know it's possible to set the eye adapt speed in Fallout.ini to 0, but I'm told (and can verify by observation) that the effect it's part of (BlurShaderHDR) is usually overwritten by weather conditions . . . how would one go about this? It's frustrating to me that the daytime sky is almost always a blinding white blur with grayish-blue whisps of cloud.
  5. I'd honestly say that this is the one feature I'd like to see taken from the TES series and put into Fallout. (aside from those that are already in the game, of course.) I've looked around quite a bit, and haven't even seen discussion of any. Does the game even allow for something like this?
  6. The title says it all, in this case-- I've reloaded from older save games multiple times to fix the problem, but every time I exit Raven Rock, the big guy is out there killing Enclave with his fists. He actually has his Gatling Laser equipped, according to the trade equipment dialog, but it's not broken (at least it works fine for me) and he won't equip anything that I give him. Help? Edit: it's workign again now. Weird. Oh, Gamebryo.
  7. This is old, I know, but the one by Rivet City contains the Scavenger (I think) start location-- I've spawned from it before.
  8. A Note Easily missed by Puce Moose is a very subtle unmarked quest. I've heard good things about the rest of his/her (?) mods, but haven't played them, as I've already probably doubled if not trebled the length of the vanilla GOTY edition.
  9. I'm using the Full pack on a laptop with only a 650M GT, and getting perfectly acceptable framerate-- although for me that's just somewhere in the area of 30FPS. If you need more than that, I suppose you'll want to use the Performance pack. As a caveat, I do have an i7 and 8GB or ram, but the card is a typical underclocked laptop CPU and the ram is standard DDR3.
