  1. Sounds like you just want to be able to play through the game in a few days and be done with it. One of the best things about Oblivion is that it seemingly never ends! You have to remember that this game came out in 2006! And was absolutely amazing for it's time. It's not perfect, but I'd say it's still one of the best games of all time. As for the main quest being too long. I think it's just right! Skyrim's main quest (and all guild quests) are waaaaaayyyyy to short. And you say it's hard to get through anything without using god mode? The game isn't that difficult. I feel like if you weren't in such a rush, you'd enjoy the game much more.
  2. Honestly, leveling mods are good and all, but in my opinion you should play through it vanilla if it is your first time. (maybe the unofficial patch and some texture packs though) I've had some of my best memories in gaming playing through this game vanilla when I first got it. Try adding mods once you start to get tired, and want to try something different. Just my opinion :P
  3. uh.... everywhere? it's kinda hard to say that I have a favorite spot. If you go to the same spots, there wouldn't be much variety. My best screenshots are always when i'm just wandering about and i see something cool, funny, or just good scenery.
  4. as long as you have a decent graphics card, you should be good.
  5. i think you can delete an omod after you install it. but the problem there is if you uninstall the mod, you won't be able to reinstall it unless you download it again. and you can also delete the archive after creating the omod. You should make a backup of the omod then delete the original one and see if it works. Just experiment with it a little bit, just make sure that you keep a backup in case anything goes wrong.
  6. there might be a problem with your music, since the music doesn't play on the main menu. try renaming your music folder so the game doesn't find it and try to play the game again. i once had a similar problem, and this worked for me. the music wouldn't play, but at least i could play the game.
  7. You should post your mod order so we can look at it. You should also tell us more about when you get this error, you said you get it after casting a spell, which helps. but when else does it happen? Your hardware is definitely good enough to run so that isn't the problem. Although you should make sure you have the latest drivers.
  8. You should just be able to plug the hard drive into your computer (might be USB or Firewire). You might also have to plug in a power cord, depending on the size of the drive. Turn on the hard drive, and it should show up in My Computer. Then, make a folder in it and call it "oblivion mods" or what ever you want. Then, you can just download all the files to that folder. Hopefully that helps.
  9. They whole point of the guardian angel guiding you to the vault was so that you could kill the Destroyer and keep it form coming into Pandora and killing everything and everyone. They said that it was full of treasure to get you to continue doing the quest and keep you encouraged. If they told the main guy that he would have to fight a big monster, he would probably be really discouraged.
  10. You could post your load order so that we can take a look at it. or You could use BOSS to put your mods in an ideal order.
  11. It might also be over heating if it is locking up and forcing a reboot. So if the other suggestions don't work, you should check and make sure the inside of your case is clean and you are getting proper air flow.
  12. These can help a little bit, noticed a bit of jump when I went from a single to a dual core and used these tweaks :) Okay, i will try these. :thanks: The only question i have is that wouldn't the iNumHavokThreads=5 and iThreads=9 values be limited by the number of cores you have? Or am i missing something?
