[Multiple Comments Posting Bug]

Yes, this isn't due to any user error. After clicking the "submit" button, the page never updates to show the submitted comment. If the page is refreshed or reloaded, the comment is shown and is duplicated. This is a site issue.

I do not and will not work for Bethesda - not 25% and not 75%. If they're too lazy/greedy to build their games on a modern game engine, I don't see any reason to help line their pockets (even if they can't talk Microsoft into doing it anymore).

It would be nice to be able to block individual users from accessing your files without requiring that they post a comment. This restriction is easily circumvented by habitual content thieves and they often just delete your posts asking them to remove stolen content despite the original requirement of having a certain number of unique downloads before having that option. What's worse is that they can block you (the author of the stolen content) from ever seeing their mods if you do happen to post a comment, allowing them to get away with content theft that much more easily, since it's then up to other users to report their activities.

 

The current system requires that the individual post a comment on a mod you've authored in order to be able to block them. This only protects the thieves, as they quickly learn not to post comments on mod pages of those from whom they plan to steal.

 

While I welcome this new option of blocking users whose content we're not interested in seeing,I'd like to see a little more protection for mod authors themselves. The report system is fine, but Nexus staff are not available around the clock and it sometimes takes several days to a week or more for reports to get resolved.

I appreciate all the staff has done to make it easier for mod authors to control the noise on their mod pages. It helps to be able to delete messages, whether they are caused by misbehaving users or site errors. It's also helpful to be able to block offending users, although I suspect that the more troublesome users simply make additional accounts to access the files.

 

I would like to request another feature more focused on user experience and not limited to mod authors. The site currently has an adult filter which allows one to hide adult-themed mods. That's all fine and good, but there are many mod pages that fall under the site's "adult" category that I simply don't want to see plastered on the hot files list day after day. It would be very helpful to be able to "dismiss" or "hide" a mod so it doesn't appear on the list of hot files (or at all). This could be done in a similar fashion to blocked users, allowing me to manage my blocked/hidden mods in the event I need to un-hide it. It would make the "hot files" section a lot more useful for times when I don't particularly have an interest in naked female statue mods. This would be a far more graceful solution than enabling the adult mod filter. In lieu of a mod rating system (which I am not proposing), this would give users more control of creating an enjoyable and informative site experience.

Thank you for acting on this and for recognizing that the file server problems would not simply disappear once the sale ended as some people insisted they would. I felt this action was warranted and in the best interest of the Nexus community and its supporters.

If the assumption is that the current spike in traffic levels are due to new game owners courtesy of the Steam Summer Sale, isn't it also safe to assume that many of these users are going to continue using Nexus after the sale ends? Traffic levels may not be where they are currently, but you will have thousands more users than you had before the sale. In my mind, that makes this the ideal time to consider additional file servers. These new download requests aren't going to disappear when the sale ends.

Please read the OP. What does it say about reporting on the weekend just past and ONLY on this weekend just past? :psyduck:

 

Today is a national holiday in the U.S. and for many people it is a three day weekend. Also, it is unusual for 504s to continue through the "weekend" to a Monday. I'm experiencing them as well - far more than I did on either Saturday or Sunday.

Site is completely FUBAR today. I can't look at my tracking list because it says I'm not tracking any files. Mod pages are messed up and won't show descriptions (or anything else) and show this for last update:

The site isn't unstable, it is unusable. And I just became a supporter... It makes me wonder what my money is good for. There are ways to mitigate or manage such attacks and they require hardware and technical expertise. I'd encourage the administration staff to use their donations to make the site more reliable. This current state is unacceptable.
