I'm on the quest objective for the Imperial Legion to meet the Legate near Korvanjund, but when I arrive, she has the same dialogue as she did back at Castle Daur, and the quest doesn't get advanced. I've tried saving and reloading, and also tried 'disable' 'enable' in the console all to no effect.

I'm just curious about the opinions of the rest of you as to whether it's worth the hassle of updating the game an then going through 60+ mods and updating those that have required upgrades for Skyrim 1.9 (Unofficial Patches, SKSE, for starters). Also, how how possible is it that doing so will destabilize my game/break my current save?

Weapon enchants and associated magic schools
yeti1069 replied to menawati's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I like Soulfire for all my weapon charging needs--just turn it one when running from one place to another, hanging out around town, talking to NPCs, etc... It uses Magicka to charge your weapon, and continues charging even when your Magicka is depleted (it will keep it basically zero'ed out until you turn Soulfire off). Very handy. -
A few times it's occurred when Quick Saving, Quick Loading in quick succession (such as when trying, and failing, to pickpocket a few times in a row). It's possible I'm just overtaxing my aged system, too. At this point, I'm putting Papyrus logs up because I'm (fairly) confident about the mods I have, although I've encountered a few issues with them, they haven't been major (AFT leaving me with naked followers because their inventories got stuck in their "backpack", Whiterun shops staying closed because vampires attacked and everyone went into hiding...and stayed there until I left and waited for 24 hours).

Latest log: This last freeze occurred as I was sneaking up on someone sleeping. I sneaked forward until I was detected and stopped, waited for the eye to clear, moved forward a little...did that 3 or 4 times, and then the game froze.

I've had a few random game freezes lately. This is from the most recent one, where I was crafting an an alchemy table somewhat quickly. Papyrus: And BOSS: Puzzled by some of the stuff Papyrus is spitting out, since I haven't even started the Companions quest line, let alone seen mention of Hircine, and have never had Real Wildlife, among other things.

I'm still using the RLO ELnFX plugins with ELnFX for now, until I see what each mod ends up doing down the road. The highlights of the two, for me, are the tying all (most?) lit areas directly to discreet light sources, and adjusting interior lighting based on time of day/weather outside. My understanding is that ELnFX does the former (for the most part), and RLO the latter.
-
The other is Enhanced Lights and FX. Nexus' search function could use a little improvement I think...it needs to not be quite so literal.
-
So, I've run the game with ELnFX and the RLO additions to ELnFX, and I love the way the game looks. In particular, I enjoy the removal of light not coming from a discreet light source, the added smoke to candles, and the improved shadows. However, I've read that RLO is going to discontinue its support for ELnFX soon, and I'm wondering which of the two I should stick with, so I'm looking for opinions on the two from people who have tried both.

I'm having problems with Skyrim again. I've been running pretty well for about two weeks, no CTDs, no missing textures. Recently, I started getting some unstable behavior, checked my logs, and saw Crimson Tide coming up a lot, so I followed steps to uninstall it. Then I was running okay for a few days. I rolled the dice on installing something new, figuring it was fairly minor, and put in the Better Alchemy Drops mod (just adds some more stuff dropping on corpses). That's the only thing I did. Played okay for a couple of hours, and then the game started locking up on autosave after fast traveling to Ivarsted. Checked my Papyrus logs, and saw the Race Menu Plugin filling the log, so I checked that, tried updating it. Now, the game locks up at the Skyrim logo, before the main menu options come up. Tried uninstalling that, Better Alchemy, no good. The game is just locking up. My most recent Papyrus logs: BOSS I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to do. Really want the game working again (obviously), and don't want to lose another character save (I can revert to an older one).

Please advise -- load order, conflicts; CTD at game start

Thanks for the great info and tips! Managed to run to Whiterun without any issue, then headed off for Morthal. The game froze about halfway there, but not a CTD, so don't know if it's the same issue. I have Patrols and two of its secondary plug-ins installed, but I didn't see any while running around. Dropped the HD DLC and the weather mod. We'll see if that clears things up a bit. Abandoned WetandCold last night when I was trying to trim the fat. Maybe one day I'll win the lotto and get to upgrade my machine for all the bells and whistles. Going to see how things run for a bit. You're really amazing! -

I grabbed the High Res DLC only recently--I honestly hadn't considered the effect it would have on the game, since I'd been running at between 30 and 60 FPS a couple of months ago. I'm not sure how I'd drop that now that I've got it from Steam--I've read a few comments from people (since installing) that were complaining that they no longer wanted the DLC, but couldn't get Steam to allow them to get rid of it. Well, I dropped more mods and got through Helgen, played through Bleak Falls Barrow and arrived at Whiterun without anymore problems. I turned my graphics sets down a bit, just to make sure that that wasn't the issue as well. Not too happy with how distant trees and terrain look right now, so I'm going to tweak that back upward a little. My FPS is looking a bit low--guessing the DLC may be responsible for that, in part, but that's still hanging out between 30 and 45 most of the time, then dropping to the mid-20s in some areas, and going up to the 60 FPS ceiling in others. I'd rather keep it above 30, and ideally above 45 more often, but it's playable. I've come across some info on making .ini tweaks, but I didn't want to start fiddling with that stuff too much without really understanding it. What's the issue with ASIS? It was one of the first things I removed, as I recalled some comment about it causing problems, but the more info I have, the better. Trying to figure out what I can and can't keep, and what I can and can't add on further. I'll say that Bigger Trees has been VERY impressive. I definitely miss the random patrols and encounters I was getting in the wild with WarZones. How does Immersive Patrols compare with that? And again, Ripple, THANK YOU! Thanks for popping back in here so often and putting up with my ineptitude at dealing with this thing. -

Those few files were the only ones I grabbed off of Steam, and only because they don't exist on the Nexus, and they're fairly minor--just the Ore Extractor Spell, Kontrol (add some extra hotkeys to an Xbox controller and moves a couple of functions around, and More Starting Spells, which just leaves a handful of low-level spell tomes on a table in Helgen to accelerate your magic career a little bit). Everything else I downloaded via the NMM. As for how the game runs...I HAD been playing without ANY problems for a few weeks in December after I bought the game and transferred a save file over from my Xbox, and with probably 20-30 mods. I can't recall what my settings were at the time, but I'm fairly certain that I had everything set Medium to High. Then I took a break from playing for a few weeks (to work on the D&D campaign I'm running), and when I went to play again, Kontrol was no longer working properly, and then the game started crashing. I uninstalled the whole thing and started over, new character and everything. I had some CTD problems (game crashing right after the Bethesda screen, before the main menu), rooted out that issue, and then started running into CTDs out in the world. I assumed from WarZones, because the CTDs tended to come up around NPCs in the wild, but I couldn't be sure. Dropped a bunch of mods and started a new character, but started getting CTDs again (on this and the previous character, it was rather frustrating because the CTDs didn't start coming up until I was a few hours into the game). That brings me to where I am here: started over once again, and made sure to read more carefully when grabbing mods, read up on Wrye Bash, installed the NMM, and BOSS. Apparently my latest attempt has failed as well. Heh. I think I do need to cut down on some mods, but I'd prefer to have an idea of what the issue is so I know what I can keep. -

Not sure what texture replacers I have that wouldn't have plug-ins. How would I check that? As far as editing the ini...I think the only changes I made were to have trees shadow themselves (and then when all these problems crept up I changed that back to 0), and adjusted the archery up-angle a little to line it up with the crosshair. I'll delete the ini files and see if that solves anything--do I need to wipe all of them?
