  1. Thanks Sopmac45 for your reply!

Have you read the mod descriptions and posts for each one of them ? You will get the answer if you read what the author says about load order / compatibility and if nothing is in there, read the posts. This action will help you to understand much better what to expect about every single mod that you want to install.

Also, I do not think that somebody can tell you which mod to use or not. That should be your onw decision based on your own play style and how do you want to play your game.

I'm aware of this and i do read every mod page completely before installing it. As i mentioned in my original post, i'm modding my games since Skyrim so i do have some experience doing that.

Also, you're correct in that people can't tell what mod i must use or not, but i'm just looking for suggestions on mods that people use and find interesting for a immersive playthrough.

Back on the Skyrim forum it was more done then here i suppose. There you had several posts about mod list suggestions where people posted what they believed was "essential" for the game. You could find a lot of interesting mods that you would rarely find on your own.

So thanks for the suggestions on several mods, i will check them all out and add the ones i feel are for me!

    Happy gaming!

  2. Hello everybody!

I've been modding my games since Skyrim and have some experience by now but the one thing i always struggle is choosing the mods i want to include in my list. The choices are just too much!
I'm now starting my list for my first playthrough with Sim Settlement and i'm looking for some advice or suggestions for mods to add to the list.

    My PC build is this:
    CPU: I5 3570K @ 3.4GHz
    Ram: 16 GB
    GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
I usually play at 1080 resolution and have the game installed on a Seagate Firecuda 2TB Hard disk with 64mb cache and rpm of 7200.
I'm very much into "immersion" mods to make the game less "gamy" and more intens.

So far i'm including these mods for my next playthrough:
    - Unofficial Patch
    - F4SE
    - Full dialog interface
    - Sim Settlements (obviously ;-)
    - True Storms
    - Armor and Weapon keyword Community Resource (AWKCR)
    - Armorsmith extended
    - Settlement Managing Software
    - craftable ammo
    - Lowered weapons
    - Enhanced Blood Textures
    - Old World Radio Boston
    - Clean Power Armor HUD
    - DEF UI
    - Shadow Boost
    - HUD Framework
    - Immersive HUD
    - Power Armor Movement Sounds (PAMS)
    - Salvage Beacons (i don't know if they are still needed with the newest SS)
    - T-51 Advanced Computer System
    - Valdacil's item Sorting
    - the Vivid Fallout series for graphic overhaul
    - CBBE or Wonder Body
    - Campsite
    - Better power armor
    - See-through Combat Scopes

    Also considering:
    -Better Settlers
    - Beantown Interiors Project
    - Immersive Vendors

What i'm looking for from the community is some suggestions on other mods or pointing out some problem mods or mod conflicts that could happen. As this will be my first time with Sim Settlement, i'm not sure if all this will work together.
Thanks in advance for all your help!

  3.

Don't you have Leadtek or Gainward in Europe? Both of those had very good reputations when they still sold in the US. PNY has also been good, in my experience, but they tend to have more basic packages/cards. Asus is also a good choice for basically any component type they make.

I can't find Leadtek here and Gainward is just like EVGA not very populair but it did find some online shops that are selling some of their products.

I also found a shop that sells a EVGS Geforce GTX 970 SSC ACX2.0+

Are you familiar with that card? It's priced at ~400 Euro (~440 $) and the shop is close to me so no mailing cost.

  4. Before you go off looking for the cheapest possible option, I'd suggest just skipping to the front of the line and getting an EVGA. They have one of, if not the, best warranties in the business, and generally offer OC'd cards with improved cooling (read: quieter + cooler all at once). PNY and Asus aren't bad either; I'd personally avoid MSI (their customer support can range from mediocre to god awful IME).

This EVGA looks to be among the least expensive on Amazon too, and it comes with an upgraded cooler and overclock:

    http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Quieter-Graphics-04G-P4-2974-KR/dp/B00NVODXR4/

While looking for that, I found this 980 for $459 AR, but I'm not terribly familiar with Gigabyte:

    http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N980WF3-4GD/dp/B015NEB7BS/

Just something to think about more than anything else - it looks like its cheaper than other 980s at least.

    Hey Obobski,

i was not clear on my previous comment. What i intended to say was that i would see what card is the best and THEN i would see what shop could give me the best price for that card.

Unfortunaly i'm living in Europe (Belgium) and the card you suggested is not availeble here. So if you have any other good suggestions?

EVGA is not that populair in Europe it seems, not much offering from that brand. I was original interested in the MSI brand but after seeing how many people have complaints about their customer service, it will not be my first choice anymore.

    Thanks for the help!

  5. Thanks for the help people!

I'm now settled on a GTX 970 for my new GPU. This card will give me a very good game experience for the next few years and when it gets old, the whole system will be aged enough to justify a new set.

Now i'm gonna hunt the best price for this card and have a great time gaming

  6.

    > i'm allready spending some good money on the wife for the holidays, taking here to a amusement park that we both love for New Year's eve and we're spending what is left of the night in a very nice 4 star hotel <

    That's very sweet from you...

*** Wishing you a beautiful holiday season and a new year of peace and happiness. !!! ***

Yea, i'm a sweet guy

And thanks for the early holidy wishes! Hope you have the same for many years to come!!

Now, i have been reading up on a lot of articles about gtx 970 and 980, looking up price ranges and availability in my reagion to make a well informed decision.

And i kind of agree with Obobski about the future proof thing. I run now a i5 CPU and it's doing great. But buying a top of the line GPU will make it not last longer. So seeing the budget thing, the needed powersupply for 980 and 980Ti (more then what i have installed atm so would need a new power supply too) and the "what's-the-future-gonna-be" situation, i'm settling for a 970.

And yes Obobski, i know that Nvidia is not the best at this moment money/value ratio, but i'm using Shadowplay for my own fun and some (very little) Youtube things and i want to keep using that so it's gonna be a Nvidia brand card

So once more, thanks for all the good advice, help and well intended suggestions. I'm a happy gamer knowing that there will always be a better card and a faster PC then what i have, but i'm able to play the games i like the way i like to play them!

Have a wonderfull holiday season and happy gaming to everybody!!

  7. Mark and Psijonica,

thanks both of you for looking into all of this and giving me some very solid and good advice!

I will check out pricing for GTX 980 and 980 Ti and see how far i can stretch my budget. Maybe waiting for a few more months and then see if i can get a sale somewhere could help out.

And Psi, i'm allready spending some good money on the wife for the holidays, taking here to a amusement park that we both love for New Year's eve and we're spending what is left of the night in a very nice 4 star hotel

So she will be very happy

Considering this a nice wrape up of the subject, i once more will say "Thank you" and happy holiday's everybody!!

  8. At this point in time you will be best served by spending the extra money and buying the ASUS GTX 980. You will be happier and you will have a card that will be able to play all the new games for the next 5 years. You can buy one for 500 bucks. That is 100 dollars a year in entertainment costs. That is very cheap! That is like $8.30 a month! hahaha

Here's why: In 2 or 3 years you may need to upgrade other parts of your gaming rig. You just never know what may happen and what may break. What happens if you need a new motherboard? What if you want to play at 4k in 2 or 3 years? I always like to keep my options open. Spending a little extra now can keep you in that pocket of gaming happiness. IMO

Are you talking about the Asus 980 or 980 Ti? Because they have about 150 euro difference in pricing. And there is a limit on my budget

The performance gain is not high enough to justify the extra money and as i said before, i have a wife that needs to agree with me spending on the PC

@Mark5916, unfortunaly i can't find a shop here that can get me that card, so that will be not an option, but thanks for looking into it for me

  9. Thank you both for your help!

So it seems that i'll go with the 970. The "better" performance from the 980 (Ti) comes also with a bigger price and i have to keep my budget in mind. Spending almost 1000 euro on a graphics card is just too much and will not be appreciated by the misses

But since i still game at 1920 X 1080 i will have a good deal with that 970. As the 960 is just the weakest in the list, i'll skip that one (not wanna buy a new card next year as that would hard to be explain :ohdear:).

    So it's gonna be a 970.

Any suggestions on what manufacturer? I was thinking on MSI since my motherboard is also a MSI. But i'm open for all suggestions

  10. Hey people!

First time on this part of the Nexus forums so be gentle with me ;-)

I'm planning an upgrade on my system and was looking for some advice for the graphics card.

    I'm currently running a

    i5 3570K CPU at 3.4 GHz

    16 GB DDR3 1600 Ram

    GTX 660 Ti graphics card

    600w Cooler Master power supply

I know the CPU and Ram are good enough for now and the near future but the graphics are starting to age a bit too much to handle things like Fallout 4 good enough. Specially when in a few months the Creation Kit (or what it's called) will be released and the modders can go full steam and release very "heavy" mods.

So i've been looking around and reading a lot of articles and reviews for GTX 960, 970 and 980 cards. But i'm still not sure. I'm very into Nvidia cards and use Shadowplay for my recordings (just for fun, nothing serious) but with the 4GB issue with the 970.... I fear that the 960 will not keep up for long anymore (getting a bit older) and when i buy a new card, it should be good for at least 2-3 years. So 970 was my pick but the 4G thing... again, not sure. But the 980 is even more money and is that card worth it's price?

So if you have any suggestions for me, it would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks people!

  11. Does LOOT also tells you what mods need cleaning with TESVEDIT? I know BOSS did this but as it seems that BOSS masterlist is no longer updated, i was wondering if LOOT gives me the same information.

  12. Hey XBlood, a quick question:

i'm usually let BOSS sort my mods but i've seen LOOT being mentioned. I went to Gophers site and took a look at the video. He seems to favor LOOT and i understand why (much more powerful) but does it also gives you a list with mods that are "dirty" and in need of cleaning with TesVedit?

Or how do you approach that problem? Just clean all mods one after the other? Thanks for any help here!

  13. Maybe a bit late to comment on this, but if you are a first time modder and you don't know what you need to do first, check out the YouTube vids by Gopher or just go to http://www.gophersvids.com. He has a very good guide for first time modders about how to handle it all and what it takes to understand mods and the way they work.

  14. Hey everybody!

I'm starting with a total fresh install of Skyrim and am looking for mods to get the graphics better. I'm also looking at immersion mods, house mods, quest mods etc. but this topic will be solely about visuals and how to get Skyrim up and running at a decent fps while being stunningly beautiful.

I have the game and Hearthfire dlc.

As for grapics, i have these mods installed atm/

    • Better Dynamic Snow
    • A quality world map
    • aMidianBorn Book of Silence (Armor, Creatures, Unique Items, Weapons)
    • aMidianBorn Imperial Forts
    • aMidianBorn Landscape
    • Belt-Fastened Quivers
    • Better Males
    • Better Torches
    • Detailed Rugs
    • Dimonized UNP female body

    • Ruins Clutter Improved
    • Skyrim HD 2K Textures (Dungeons, Landscape, Misc, Towns, Riften)
    • SMIM
    • Enhanced Light and FX (ELFX)

These are all installed and sorted. I have some mods on my list that i'm wondering if i should install them also.

And here is that list. Any comments are welcome (suggestions, idea's or maybe some other "must have" mods :woot:)

    • Birds and Flocks
    • Book Covers Skyrim
    • Detailed Terrain and Tree LoD
    • Hybrids HD Plands and Herbs Retexture
    • Immersive Armors
    • Immersive Weapons
    • SkyFalls and SkyMills – Animated Distant Waterfalls and Windmills
    • The Beauty of Skyrim (Caves and Mines + Dungeons)
    • Windmills resized
    • Radiant and Unique potions and poisons HD including Booze V2

I'm looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks all

  15. It all depends on what your installing.

If you are installing aMidianBorn Imperial Forts for example and you already had Skyrim HD 2K installed. When the question comes to overwrite or not, it is up to you to decide

if you want the new mods textures (aMidian) to replace the ones from the older one (HD 2K). Normally you will want to replace them with the new ones since you liked them.

Since you are using NMM, you can always try out if you prefer the replacements or not. If you decide to return to the original, you can simply uninstall with NMM and the old files are

    restored.

Hope this helps you out a bit!

    Happy modding!

  16. @BlackRose: not sure about ENB's at this point, trying to sort out my mod list first

@chanchan05: thanks for the info, did some research about Audio Overhaul, watched some YouTube vids, and decided that it's not what i want. So gonna stick with Sounds of Skyrim.

@Moraelin: another one added to the To Do List

After my "stupid" incident, i have come to this for graphics mods:

    • Better Dynamic Snow
    • A quality world map
    • aMidianBorn Book of Silence (Armor, Creatures, Unique Items, Weapons)
    • aMidianBorn Imperial Forts
    • aMidianBorn Landscape
    • Belt-Fastened Quivers
    • Better Males
    • Better Torches
    • Detailed Rugs
    • Dimonized UNP female body
    • Enhanced Blood Textures
    • Climates of Tamriel
    • Pure Waters
    • Real Girls Realistic Body texture for UNP
    • Ruins Clutter Improved
    • Skyrim HD 2K Textures (Dungeons, Landscape, Misc, Towns, Riften)
    • SMIM
    • Enhanced Light and FX (ELFX)

These are all installed and sorted. I have some mods on my list that i'm wondering if i should install them also.

And here is that list. Any comments are welcome (suggestions, idea's or maybe some other "must have" mods :woot: )

    • Birds and Flocks
    • Book Covers Skyrim
    • Detailed Terrain and Tree LoD
    • Hybrids HD Plands and Herbs Retexture
    • Immersive Armors
    • Immersive Weapons
    • SkyFalls and SkyMills – Animated Distant Waterfalls and Windmills
    • The Beauty of Skyrim (Caves and Mines + Dungeons)

And once more, thanks for all the help people!!

Edit: i'm gonna start a new thread for some more input, so i will thank you all for the input so far and feel free to still comment here!!

  17. I have a question.

I'm very interested in your setup and am already using a few of the mods you suggested. But can you incorporate ENBoost with this setup?

From what i understand off it, ENBoost is there to help Skyrim handle all your mods as they keep adding to the workload of the engine. So if i use more mods, then ENBoost is there to help out and prevent your system from crashing down.

If i'm wrong, our if you have a solution, i'm very interested
