  1. Haha, yeah I know it's Malborn, Must have autocorrected or something. ^_^ Maybe you're right about Aldmeri tactics, I may very well be mixing different lores in my head. I have no idea what Red Wing is either. As for quoting Trotsky, I'm sorry, but are you quoting a Marxist with the intent of explaining Fascism and are you saying that Proletarian revolution is good? I'm going to drop this one because I don't feel like getting into a political discussion on the nexus. =P
  2. Melbourne left because Morrowind is a solitary stat with no immediate ties to any other nation and is a perfect hiding spot for anyone trying to avoid taking a knife to the throat. They're definitely not friends with the Thalmor, but they're still of the Mer. Can't really say I disagree. I was referring to the Empires forces being spread to thin to effectively combat the Thalmor on the South-West. Due to the terms of the treaty I doubt they have a very sizable force stationed in Anvil. Numbers are not everything true, but we're dealing with Elves. They may be rude, overconfident and arrogant but I don't see them as ever being complacent, they're not as prone to apathy as are the men. I also don't see them fighting a battle where with more troops than they feel necessary. I think the Altmer generally fight more effectively in small groups of 6-10 they need different mages to play different roles, without getting in each others way. If they're forced into open combat they still prove to be more than the typical Imperial Soldier can handle. I see the Thalmor army as being comprised of almost special forces. There aren't as many, they all live to be very old and don't take unnecessary chances. Lastly, I don't see how you can say it's not fascism? From the Oxford American Dictionary: "Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach." Revolution is a part of the package deal. They may be fairly monarchial, but they still fit this category. ;)
  3. Again, if Cyrodiil is as bad as you say, why would they have to travel by coast at all? The more troops the empire sends to Skyrim the easier it will be to take. If they are successful in taking the central province than it's only a matter of time till they have enough resources to utterly crush Skyrim and Hammerfell. As for Morrowind not being friendly with the Aldmeri, they may not be pals, but that doesn't mean they'de side with Skyrim in a conflict, not when the Nords seem to despise them and if the are successful in succeeding from the Empire than they'll have a fascist king. While I agree that Morrowind is not part of the Empire or Thalmor, since the destruction of Red Mountain and the removal of it's heart it has ceased to act as a pillar of reality, so the Thalmor's main interest with the country is the potential military backing and ensuring Talos cultists are unable to evade them by fleeing their. With that in mind I think the Thalmor are working their agents into power in that country like they have in all the others. They aim to unravel reality and cast it back into the spirit world, and this goal can only be achieved if they are able to succeed in getting rid of Talos. Heck, maybe the graybeards are Thalmor empathizers, they do after all tell you to let the world be destroyed by Alduin.
  4. Hold it's own for ages? Not if the dragons were as fierce as the ones in the lore (vanilla ones kinda suck), the elves would prove far better at fighting the dragons. Second, what do you mean they would pass the Argonians??? They're from Black Marsh, not High Rock, he Bretons are to the North and sailing around the continent through the Padomaic Ocean would take to long. Their best bet would be to take Cyrodiil(already weak) group with the forces from Morrowind and take the pass that leads up to Riften and work their way West, all the while keeping the Hammerfell occupied with a sea battle. I didn't say they wouldn't support Skyrim, I just doubt they would. In the end the best chance the Imperials and Nords have is to STOP FIGHTING AMONGST THEMSELVES. Disagree if you will, the longer they go without taking a stand against the real threat, the more likely they are to fall to the Thalmor.
  5. Haha, it was kind of a joke guys. I honestly know little about the god lore in TES and don't particularly care. ^^
  6. Yes and no. I recommend the method I use for steam workshop. 1. Favorite/track the mod 2. Hit subscribe(If you plan on doing several mods I recommend doing several at once) 3. Launch Skyrim and wait for the mods to download. 4. Close Skyrim and unsubscribe from all the mods. Now you can track them manually as they update. 5. Go back to Skyrim, set your load order, test the game, if their are any bugs unselect half and narrow it down etc... It's not the best method but I used this for about 30 mods and never had any problems.
  7. Turns out the outfit I was referring to is on the nexus as well. - Assassins Creed Nightingale retexture But like aesima said, their is a very good one out there, just google skyrim assassin's creed. It'll take like 2 minutes to find.
  8. I didn't say he was the best or a good general, but he does practically rule in Torygg's stead. I know that Skyrim could stand against the Aldmeri for a while, but it's already weakened by the dragons (at least in my play-through =P idiotic townspeople) and Hammerfell may be a good ally but it's all they can do to protect themselves as it is. The country may have the most naturally talented warriors, but they're mostly fighting a sea battle with races known for their advanced skill in magic and archery. In addition to being extremely good at long ranged combat their technology seems more advanced than that of any other race. Their light weight armor yields more protection than the Alik'r basic cloth and scimitar ensamble and as much if not more defense than the typical Nordic steel which is 5-20x heavier. The Redguards, having spent most of their lives in the desert, evidently don't manufacture any thicker, more protective, armor, lest they would be wearing it in Skyrim instead. The redguards may be able to hold their own, but they wont offer Skyrim much support. The Thalmor have already infiltrated most major holds and have a very strong presence in Skyrim. Cyrodiil may be weak but Skyrim and Cyrodiil need each other if they hope to avoid losing all sovereignty to the Elves. Frankly I think all this fighting could have been avoided if the gods had made a high elf a god as well as Talos. The Altmer are just jealous that they're the smartest, most advanced race but are unable to claim relation to a god.
  9. Instead of doing more damage sneak attacks should have more knock-back than typical hits(which should be toned down IMO) since they're not expecting it or bracing for it.
  10. Put simply, no government is perfect. With that said it's up to you to pick the better side. First decide this, do you like the Thalmer and the Aldmeri dominion or not? On the surface it appears that if you like them you should pick the legion and if not, the stormcloaks, but this is not the case. As a few players point out, the Aldmeri dominion is the only alliance to gain from the civil war, think about it like Hitler in WWII(They do after all claim to be of a superior race just like Hitler did) making demands and getting the Czech's to fight amongst themselves so he could 'restore order'. The only chance the world has at defeating the Altmer and Bosmer is to work together with High Rock and Hammerfell(Already at war with Valenwood, Summerset, and potentially Morrowind). Believe it or not the Empire only tolerates the Thalmor because they're too weak to face them at the moment. Ulfric killed High King Torygg to make an example, but as Elisif his widow and the court members explain, he would have readily supported Ulfric as they were friends and had similar views, but Ulfric killed him anyway. Ulfric is not fighting a war for Skyrim like he claims. Ulfric wants revenge against the Thalmer. While fighting in the Imperial legion he was taken captive by the Thalmer and and tortured by Elenwen. His father(The Bear of Eastmarch) was killed during his incarceration, and when the Imperial's made a deal with the Thalmer at the expense of the Skyrim people he had his excuse. He became the Jarl of Windhelm and rescued Markarth from Thalmor rule after the signing of the White-Gold Concordat so that the people could worship Talos freely. Violence increased in the cities as protestors of the concordat went to the streets and though the empire allowed the worship of Talos in Markarth for a while, the decided they could not jeopardize the peace they were struggling to maintain between themselves and the Thalmer, so they reneged on their promise to allow the worship in Markarth and Igmund agreed to bann the worship to protect his city. Ulfric was infuriated with this double-crossing and played directly into the Thalmer's hands, killing the King of Skyrim and beginning the Great Civil War. I personally believe the best option is to join with the Empire and quell the rebellion quickly, as all you do by joining Ulfric is kill one of the empires greatest generals, tear the Imperial Alliance apart, and allow the Thalmer an easier fight in the future.
  11. More info please? Are you bootcamping or using a wrapper?
  12. It'd be a bit of a pain, but you could rename your character through showracemenu before saving. Not the most practical solution, but just a suggestion.
  13. I have an Assassin's Creed based retexture of the nightingale armor I found on the steam workshop. Yes, it is standalone and doesn't replace the armor just adds the assassin's garbs. You might try there. As far as the nexus is concerned there are some excellent assassin mods. Hidden Blade SFX Masters of Death - Rise of the Brotherhood Dwarven Mechanical Equipment I really like the blade on the last one, it's on the wrong side of the hand, but it's a very nice addition to any assassin styled character. Hope that helps!
  14. I've been toying with this idea for a while know and decided that maybe it really is possible. I use a cider wrapper to play skyrim on my mac and therefor cannot use the CK, and while most say the only way to create a follower is through an external editor I'm begging to think an internal modification to the game could allow for someone to create their own companions. First I'll explain the process of console cloning: If you followed the above method then at this point you should have a semi functional follower that uses a few different dragon shouts by default, but their are MANY issues with this method. Issues I've noted so far include: A: If the follower is set to essential when you die, you don't actually die, but sit there like essential NPCs without ever recovering. You have to 'esc' and reload. Though I haven't tried it, this leads me to suspect that if the follower clone isn't set to essential and dies, your character may bug out or die. B: If you use showracemenu after creating a clone you will have a distinct clone for a while, but at some point their body will change to being the same as yours, and then their face upon reloading a cell, or disable and enabling them. I believe the name stays like it was previously, but don't take my word for it. C: Sometimes the follower completely vanishes leaving no trace. D: If your follower commits a crime it counts against you. E: While it's unlikely, this method may also cause the echo shout to stop working. This hasn't been tested. F: Even if this method were to work, followers created would likely be save file exclusive unless an external Character.esp could be created with SKSE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now is where the mod fun begins. The big question I'm asking is, can it be done? I'm no modder, and as such I don't know a lot about what can and can't be done. Next, if it can be done, how difficult would the process be? Can you set it up to bind the character's data to the save file and separate the clone entirely from the player once created? If that could be done it would fix all the above issues. Input would be greatly appreciated!
