  1. Does anyone know if something like this exists?
  2. Description: This mod displays the closest/second closest quest in distance / OR / order of proximity to the quest Example: Nameless Hero enters anvil city south gate. The closest possible action related to any available quest is given some defining mark; for example; (keep in mind these could work individually or in combination and should work in and co-ordinate with darnified's UI mod ) Quests are listed (arranged) in proximity in the +TAB menu / user interface, as opposed to order they were acquired (an option to turn this on and off would work best)The closest available quest could/show up in a different font colourAbility Sort quests by city / area Why/Need: I tried searching for something like this and could not find anything. Its possible my query terms were not inclusive or correct. This same feature could be applied to many games like oblivion. It adds to realism, by simply giving the Nameless Hero an organized list of quests, reducing the need for fast travel. It makes logical / common sense.
  3. found the files; turns out they were part of a mod - not existing, original vanilla oblivion files. They were part of the improved grass textures mod. Can't honestly say how much good they do me considering I have an old gfx card and high resolution distant files don't even provide any graphic improvement at the resolution im playing at. Thanks again, i will check out the mod suggested in the thread though.
  4. thank you, and i appreciate your help, response is appreciated. While I disagree with the rules and perhaps your interpretation that doesnt change them. Again thank you very much.
  5. To suggest that I'm somehow trying to 'steal' the game, or use or acquire pirated content (or encouraging users to do such) is not only ignorant, its frankly insulting. I own the game, and I can show you my steam account if you're interested. Maybe we can play some cs:go while we're at it? I'm asking for a solution that solves a problem that would take me (up to 4 or 5 hours) to limit it down to 10 minutes, and I've already explained why in detail why that's the case (let me remind you, a problem unique to someone actually owning the game through legal means). It's an entirely reasonable request, especially considering this is a website dedicated to the editing, trading and modifying original game files. As well, its a problem that occurred due to my negligence while installing a mod hosted on your website. To think that would go against rules and that somehow, there's a lawyer out there ready to mail (do people still do that?) a cease and desist order because I asked for a few files (which apparently aren't even needed to run the game) seems to show a complete lack of common sense and understanding. For god's sake, I'm not asking nexus to host the entire oblivion game and all its DLC's on the website. I'm not even asking for the .exe file. I'm not asking anyone to steal anything, either. I even found one small quick example of an original game file uploaded to the nexus mod site. And consider it can be argued without that file you can't even run the game. And, I'm only asking for a privately shared link download link between two legal owners of the game! (Wait- do you own the game legally? If not- please ignore the request for the files) All of what I've written above is what makes your response so infuriating (and why I've managed to, honestly, waste a lot of time writing this). What should be a no-brainer non-issue is unfairly cast as somehow malicious and illegal, and god forbid, unethical! Anyways, I've stated my piece, and I won't ask anymore for anyone to send me the files through PM. I appreciate your interest in the thread, and I'll keep in mind these rules rules next time I need to post, which, frankly, I hope doesn't happen soon. (Nobody wants technical issues!) It would however, have been nice, if you explained that procedure to me that you mentioned, then perhaps I might have a bit more luck. And if I still need to mention it, please don't bother responding if you're not looking to help.
  6. Appreciate the responses. The short answer to my questions seem to be that I actually do not need those files. However, there were at least 22, maybe 30 of those 'gps co-ordinates' files. I would still greatly appreciate it if someone could send me those vanilla files, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and well, I guess if I don't get a response in the next day or so I'll just have to comepletely redownload oblivion (or perhaps i'll just grab a pirated version online - a lot easier than going through steam.) I also was wondering about the LOD generator. I'm wondering too, if - the mods I've installed came with LOD files - and perhaps I may have deleted those? I think I will reinstall some of my texture mods - grass overhaul, natural environments (oh wait, i did reinstall that) and maybe qarls texture mod. (I only have about 6 mods, just to make the game look a bit better, the basics, you know) Do you or anyone else know if these mods install LOD/generated files? (grass overhaul, natural environments qarls texture mod.) I do remember some 'popups' with the trees - going from certain trees to somewhat totally different trees (different size, colors). Is it possible this could be related to my issue? Or is this just an issue of me perhaps needing that LOD generator tool. Thanks again
  7. that is piracy sir Not sure if you're making a joke; clearly I've already bought the game. (i'm using a steam version as I mentioned before). Again, if there's anyone who would like to help me, I'd much appreciate it. nope no joke, to share assets from the game is piracy I mean, you're being absolutely ridiculous. I'm asking for about 15 or so specific files (that I've already paid for and I'm assuming others here have as well) to share those specific files, privately. These are not files being shared with the general public and they're neither theft not profitable for me or anyone else, or, unprofitable for any software owner or licensee with which there is 'profit' to be made. The files on their own can't be used to play the game. Once again, I'm not sure if you've completely read / understand the posts I've written. There's simply no argument to be made that this request even remotely resembles any form of piracy. Please, I'm not here to make some sort of legal argument regardless if there is one to be made. This thread doesn't need to be any larger than it deserves, and if you have nothing to add, please refrain from responding. If admins would like to close the thread, then they can. Otherwise its a harmless request, and again, anyone wanting to help out can. Thanks again.
  8. that is piracy sir Not sure if you're making a joke; clearly I've already bought the game. (i'm using a steam version as I mentioned before). Perhaps you didnt read or misunderstood what I'm asking. Again, if there's anyone who would like to help me, (whether its answering simple questions or otherwise) I'd much appreciate it.
  9. A really really simple ask and solution ( I think) : Could someone send me a backup of the original game files (edit: ONLY the files listed in "texture/landscapeLOD/generated ") I don't need the files/folders 'farfar' 'farnear' or 'farinf'. Just the rest of the files in the generated folder. They're about 430 mb or so I believe. --------- The reason I'm asking for a backup here is because shitty ass f***ing retarded steam doesn't ever give you the install files, so a reinstallation means I have to download all the f***ing files all over again. Which can take up to 5 hours or so on my connection and steams downloading servers. As well, the verify integrity of game files does absolutely f*** all and does not restore the files. It all happened because of the stupid f***ing distant LOD mod requires you to overwrite files, and since all the files are f***ing numbers, its a ridiculous procedure to find out exactly which files need to be backed up. So i copied all the orginal files to a new folder, extracted the downloaded files as copies into that folder, and then it auto selects the original files, which I then copied to a new folder. Viola, i have backups of the specific 11 or so files I need. So I just deleted all the other files, but ended up deleting the files in the original game folder, and the new one I had created (I must have been distracted or confused, but yeah, screwed up) --------- help would be appreciated, thanks. ps; I loaded up a game and everything *seems* fine but I'm worried about random crashes. Are these files even nessesary? Are they 'generated?' I'm really not that educated on this sort of stuff.
