  3. So i have made the decision to finally build my own computer to play skyrim with mods and to try to start making mods my self. I have been watching videos on youtube on how to build a good gaming pc for 1,000 and i think i found the right video for me. Does anyone have any good tips before i begin this project? also, what kind of monitor should i get? i dont want to spend more than 200 on a new monitor, but do monitors make a huge difference? im not all that interested in 4k graphics, i just want good (decent) graphics with great gameplay and no more crashes. I like to use mods like frostfall, realistic needs, combat mods, ect. Here is the link for pc build video plus parts list below. ntel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor - http://amzn.to/1gfOFIi Enermax ETS-T40F-BK 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler - http://amzn.to/2fX7S6o Kingston HyperX FURY Black 16GB DDR4 2400 - http://amzn.to/2gVVBw5 AMD R3 240GB SSD - http://amzn.to/2gW0EN0 Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD - http://amzn.to/2gVY6kl Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury 4GB NITRO Video Card - http://amzn.to/2eDx4fJ Deepcool DUKASE V2 ATX Mid Tower Case - http://amzn.to/2fXdsFJ Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold Power Supply - http://amzn.to/2gDMGS1 Windows 10â from Kingâuin - http://www.kinguin.net
  4. okay so to those of you it may concern i fixed the glitch! all i did was delete dawnguard from my data folder menu on steam then i went to skyrim on steam-righ clicked the game in the library, went all the way down to properties-selected local files-and then select "verify integrity of the game cache" this will redownload dawnguard and then steam will reset your skyrim settings to play at your pc capacity. then restart the computer, beware though that dawnguard will now appear at the bottom of the load order in the data files including all mods so you will manually have to put dawnguard in its proper load place in the data files menu.
  5. thank you for your help, i dont think i have edited the archives, i did however add some codes to papyrus for better scripting [Papyrus] fUpdateBudgetMS=800 fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800 fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000 iMinMemoryPageSize=256 iMaxMemoryPageSize=512 iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=2457600 but other then that i have not done any other editing, and the problem was present before i did this to the game. also i have the lates version of SKSE 1.6.16 I have also purchased all my skyrim and dlcs from steam about a month ago. my mod load order is in this boss link, i dont know if you can access it through there but its worth a shot. file:///C:/BOSS/Skyrim/BOSSlog.html
  6. okay so im having trouble playing the dawnguard dlc. thing is that when i first try to go to the dawnguard fort i notice the walls next to the fort door are missing and in their place are two large red exclamation marks, also all the dawnguard armors are bright purple. i dont know if this has to do with a mod i installed but its also affecting dragonsreach in whiterun. however in dragons reach i can actually enter the building even tho its missing some outer walls so the inside seems to work well but not the dawnguard fort because as soon as i try to enter fort dawnguard i crash to desktop. im thinking its a problem with textures? i have dragon born dlc but have not played it yet. as anyone ever heard of such a thing? i have not been able to find any other forums on this so any advice would be appreciated. some mods i have that i think could possibly affect this are 1) timing is everything 2) open cities of skyrim 3) run for your lives 4)climates of tamriel 5) alternative start
  7. okay so i know that there are many mods out there that use and modify scripts in skyrim, mods such as frostfall, realistic needs and diseases, dual wield parry, and so on. i have downloaded such mods but the problem is that once i get to a high level my game scripts begin to slow down...alot. for example all the animations now take longer to react, picking up items takes longer for some reason and basically any action now takes longer. Now some info on my pc, i recently bought a new pc just for skyrim, it runs the game on high settings no problem, it has a good graphics card, 6 core processor, and 8 gigs of ram, so i know its not my pc cuz on highest settings i get absolutely no lag on frame rate. i tried setting the graphics to low settings but it did not make a difference so im guessing that scripts are different from graphics performance. i think that perhaps my problem is more related to the game mechanics and engine then my cpu and i read online that SKSE can help with slow scripts. so yes i have frost fall and RND and Dual wield parry mod and i also downloaded SKSE and SKYUI and it helped alot but i know there is another thing i can do that related to the word "papyrus." i have done some research and have discovered that there is a way to give skyrim more Ram usage or cpu usage towards script running then the game is currently using. all i have discovered so far is "tweaking the skyrim.ini files" which gives a list titled under papyrus of the game memory and cpu usage and this can be modified. however this is as far as my research has taken me, i have found the skyrim preferences file on my pc but that does not contain the skyrim.ini file. i still have not been able to find that file anywhere and search function on the start menu does not find it either. So my question is...how do i modify my skyrim papyrus file to enhance scripts and if you please could explain a step by step process and by this i mean to someone who knows nothing about it, like someone who has never heard of a computer...i am very limited to computer knowledge and i need very specific description. i would appreciate any input.
  8. the OS is the operating system right? well when i go to control panel and look at system specs it says windows edition - windows 7 ultimate
  9. i wouldnt know where to beggin on that
  10. ok so heres the thing, i just got this new gaming pc for skyrim, only the problem is that i needed to re-install steam on my new pc in order to access my skyrim on that account but steam is not working on my new pc. i always get this message when launching steam, "steam client boostrapper stopped working" and it closes the program. now i dont care at all about steam, all i want is to play skyrim and get mods from the nexus and ill even go as far as buying the game again (not from steam this time) to play it but i have heard that you always need to go through steam. is that true? i have posted on steam about my problem and all people do is post links to old forums on the issue but believe me i have already tried all of the solutions, i have deleted all files in steam folder except for steam exe and steam apps and launched - no good i have tried to change compatibility under steam launcher properties for windows versions - no good i tried deleting and re installing steam 4 times - no good i seriously have no idea what to do, i just got this pc for skyrim and it looks like i wont be able to use it, so if anyone knows how another fix to my boostropper problem or any way to buy skyrim without steam at all that would be great, thanks
  11. Greetings, so ive been looking at countless castle and home mods out there and I have not been able to find quite what im looking for. You see im looking for a Masyaf style castle from assassins creed or a secret cave with lots of beds for my small number of followers, and by small I mean 20 or so. Thing is, I like recreating the order of assassins from assassins creed but Im having trouble finding a good “base of operations” soft of speak. I want a modest not huge castle or secret large cave with lots of beds, training dummies ect for my 20 or so assassins. I mean I want to feel like it’s a home to many and not just the dragon born, you know like being the leader or a guild and not just a lord in an abandoned palace. Im not asking for anyone to do any research but if any of you fellow modders come across such a mod please let me know. thanks
  12. Thanks guys this helped alot
  13. So i have about 600 bucks to spend and i want to get the most bang out of mu buck, but in not too computer savvy. i do know that i love to mod the heck out of skyrim, i mean not like crazy visual texture mods but mods like frostfall, wet and cold, civil war overhaul ect. so...i ran into this computer on craigs list and it sounds legit but i dont really understand some of the specs...for example is a six core processor better then dual core? and what graphics card does it have? one part says 512 mb and another says 2gb..so which is it? sorry if anyone has any suggestions of where i can get a gaming machine let me know! for 600....craigslist add for the pc im looking at is below. 14. thanks, now i need to educate my self in what computer to get.
  15. Okay so I know that CTD can be caused by many things, including mods, graphics card being low end, not having enough RAM, ect. My main question is, is it a possibility that my low end desktop could be to blame for the every ten minute ctd problem I have? I say possible because I know it could also be one of my mods but I suspect it is the computer its self. The reason why suspect this is because of this..my computer specs.. Processor: intel Pentium dual CPU E2200 2.20 GHz Ram 3.6GB Video Card AUS EAH5450 Series Disc Space 190.2 GB 32 bit windows 7 Now I know my processor is the worst and I should be using a better graphics card and a 64 bit system but could this be the cause for CTD? I mean I know this computer sucks but I don’t mind playing in the lowest graphics and settings, I don’t get a lot of lag that way and it runs pretty smoothly except in high intensity battles where it gets choppy. But again why the CTD? I cant stand it! someone tell me if a better computer will help with this problem. Further details = I use mods that are highly recodgized like ATF, convenient horses, frostfall, and others similar to this that people don’t seem to complain about, I also use BOSS and meticulously check my load orders regularly with mod descriptions to make sure there are no conflicts and yet I still cant play the game without saving every 5 minutes.
  16. I know this is probably a silly question but does anyone know if there are any good Lydia enhancing mods out there? And I mean in character not in looks. There are so many other voice lines done by that same voice actor in the game that it would be nice if someone added those lines to Lydia’s general dialogue and made her much more interesting. I know the mod follower vilja has done so already, for vilja makes Lydia have full conversations with her and she even sings and it’s the same voice actor and so it would be cool if someone made a mod that let Lydia interact with the player that way as well, kind of like an interesting npc might from the mod interesting npcs.
  17. true but my goodly characters already go through that scenario all the time. i know what you mean tho
  18. This is strictly for role playing purposes, and yea some of you may find this extremely nerdy and that’s because it is, but I play skyrim more for the RP then anything so here it goes, I am looking for a quest mod that will add a kind of betrayal or redemption to an evil assassin or thief to turn him or her from evil and to do good in skyrim. Basically I always start my characters as evil and do dark brotherhood and thief’s guild then after completing those I start the main quest and the “good guy” quests. However there is something missing, I don’t feel its believable, I need a quest mod kind of like sidna mine that will teach the dragonborn some humility and place him on the path of righteousness sort of speak, like a traumatic life changing experience such as the knights of the nine in oblivion where all your crimes get erased and you become a new man and turn from your evil ways and want to do some good for a change? Yea something like that.
  19. i was thinking it would be fun and useful to have a mod where you could complete quests and instead of returning to the person who gave you the quest you could simply employ a courier from a city of village near you to deliver a letter with the news. I got this idea inspiration from doing all the small thief guild quests and all the running around dark brotherhood quests where you have to walk back and forth all day long, well thats if you are like me and do not fast travel. Like once you finish a quest in say,,solitude for the thief's guild, you could hire a solitude town courier to deliver the message to the person who gave you the quest and maybe even receive more quests through the skyrim postal service? if any modders think this is a good idea let me know or point me in the direction if a mod like this has already been created. thanks
  20. i just downloaded Kitiara and i must say im impressed!
