  1. A cautionary tale. Your mileage may vary. First I am very, very new. I received my Nexus 4 yesterday (2/5). Ordered on 1/30, they said they would ship on 2/13 but it showed up on 2/5. Point Nexus Play. Prior to ordering, T-M lady said if you want to get up and running quickly, to go to local retail store and get sim card. I went to local retail store and told them I wanted the 100/unl/unl plan for 30 bucks a month. They said "huh? don't have it here." How about sim card? "nope, none of those either" They called their support lady. She said, "Have to go to walmart." Duh. I call t-mobile from parking lot; new lady, she says, in effect," they are idiots. I'll help". Point two for t-mobile.com, sort of--previous lady not so much. She comes back after short delay and says, whoops no sim cards but don' t worry, we can send you out a kit and wave the cost, just pay for shipping if you want it fast. I said yes, otherwise i have a 300 dollar paper weight. They were nice, they were helpful, they knew what they were doing. T-Mobile retail? Well, not so much. They tried to be helpful, just were clueless. This probably is old news to the old timers/experts here. It was a little daunting for a retired newbie just joining the 21st century. If I can figure out an easy way to use google voice or some other app to let me use my wifi for no-minute charge, then I will fade away and text my grandchildren to my hearts content (or until they block me) without spending all of my soc-sec check. I apologize if this is posted in the wrong section. As I said I am a newbie . P.S. What little I have seen of the phone working--setting it up, etc--it appears to be quite a nice piece of equipment. Things have definitely improved since my days working on PDP-11's.
