AMA with Robin Scott - Tuesday 6th September
Basil_oz replied to TheTokenGeek's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #42023585. #42024420, #42024715, #42030305 are all replies on the same post. All hail the bacon! See, this supports my theory that we are all descendants of the kids from Lord of the Flies! And porridge... perhaps there's porridge involved in Robin's morning culinary behaviour. Then, what sort of porridge would he eat? Damn, now I'm going to lay awake at night! -
Fallout 4 Creation Kit Beta and an Important Notice to Survival Testers
Basil_oz replied to SirSalami's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #37181465. I found that installing the patch for Def-UI fixed the problem for me. Still need to test it in regard to whether it will CTD as i play, but at least I can now load an existing save which I wasn't able to before. This also fixed the same problem for my wife. -

The appdata directory & plugins.txt file are hidden on a lot of systems. You need turn your options to "show hidden folders/files" in the control panel. Best to google this to find out how to do it on your system. -
I haven't downloaded your mod (I am currently running my own alpha test with my own mod which is a WIP so I am restricting any other WIP mods) but I have had a good look through your screenshots. There is obviously many many hours of work and passion invested in this. Keep asking the questions. Sometimes the right person who may have the answer just doesn't hit the forum board when you ask it, and the lack of response is because those who are currently viewing don't have an adequate solution for you. If you think that the conflict may be with Sounds of Skyrim, pm the mod creator and see if they may have some insight into the CTD. Worst case scenario would be that they won't know or will be too busy too reply... which leaves you no worse off than what you are!

I have always thought it would be so useful to have a sticky post that contains links to main Skyrim mod troubles. For example: Mannequins; armour & shield plaques; armour texturing; CTD's; mod conflicts (I think that there was one done on this but not a sticky); scripting; navmeshes; NPC's and the list could go on. I have often seen and received the benefit of a post that has addressed an issue that has come up without me even asking. Because this is such an active forum these great posts start retreating into the historic post area if there is no futher comments on them (and because they address the issue the replies stop). Constantly a person asks similar questions and you think "there was a great thread about that" but you can't remember when it was or where. I know that the search helps to narrow down topics but it would be so useful to have a sticky thread where previous threads, which have addressed or given some good suggestions in regard to some of the main issues, could be maintained. I know that a request such as this means someone has to not only go through historic threads and set this up... but has to maintain it also. Particularly seeing that Bethesda updates may make particular historic threads irrelevant. That would be a huge ask. I guess my question is: is this in any means a possibility or is there some other format already existing on the site that does this? As I said the search facility is useful, however it does draw a lot of irrelevant threads as well that may just have that word in a post but not be anything about it. Your thoughts?

game sometimes when entering new house/dungeon and so on
Basil_oz replied to ACEofACE's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
In regard to the synchronising, turn off Steam. It is automatically updating or, if you are finishing playing a session, synchronising your save files on cloud. Just turn Steam to off-line and that should fix that. If your computer (your rig) is slowing down it could be because the graphic card is labouring. Dependant on what mods you are running and where you happen to be in the Skyrim world, your FPS (frame rate per second) could be bogged down so much that the game begins hanging. You may want to go into options and turn the video card preferances down. I'm not sure about the Realistic World Lighting mod becuase I haven't installed it, but it may have adjusted your default settings and you need to adjust them back. Also, it may be an idea to completely delete the mod from your computer. I have heard that even if a mod is unchecked (deactivated) in the mod list it still has a bearing on the other mods and game depending on where it is in the load order. Make sure that you have deactivated the mod correctly. Sometimes remnants of mods remain which can still interupt game performance. Do make sure that you have the latest Skyrim patch download (you will need Steam on-line to do this). There were issues with entering or leaving cells through doors and fast travel. The current patch has addressed this. -
Are the mannequins equipped with anything when you test them? Perhaps equipping each mannequin with something like a ring may slow their wandering without it over-shadowing the armour displays. Helping themselves to the contents of the display case is a new one though! Are you sure these mannequins didn't come from Riften?

I run Skyrim on a notebook which has plenty of grunt to run the game but it overheats like hell! High-end notebooks have the grunt but just can't get the heat away that graphic-intense games generate. My rig used to just shut down. Anyway, I now pack a flat icepack (wrapped in a hankderchief to absorb any condensation) under the CPU/graphics area of my notebook (you can easily find it... it's the part that's glowing red from heat after 10 minutes of playing Skyrim) and I have had no issue, with the rig remaining cool throughout. Just make sure that there are no vents directly on the icepack which might allow moisture to enter your rig. It's a bit archaic, however it's an effective heat venting system. It could be worth a shot to see if your hangs are heat related.

Including the mods you are running (BOSS generated list) and your rig specs would possibly help in getting an answer. -
SKSE - game doesn't load after title screen
Basil_oz replied to LeviathanHK's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
A suggestion... You said that when you click NEW the game locks. Does it lock when you click LOAD? Create a new game without launching SKSE, setting up your character and as soon as you can save, shut the game down. Restart the game using SKSE and then LOAD the saved game. It's a work-around but it will at least get you going (if it works) as SKSE tends to be for mods that aren't effected so much by previous saves. -
This seems to be a Skyrim patch 1.5 issue. CTDs are happening not only with mods but also vanilla cells when using doors or fast travelling. From what I have seen on the forums it appears to be a navmesh issue. You may find that playing around with your navmesh in each of your cells may assist.

This is not a mod request. It is simply musing over a mod that really is inevitable. We have Skyrim that has introduced the concept of marriage from the get-go. Mods have been created broadening the partner base throughout the game. It is simply a natural progression that there should be a mother-in-law mod! I can see it now: the mother of whatever partner Dovahkiin has chosen, following him around the land of Skyrim berating him. "Why aren't you home with your kids?!!" "You'd be better off with a good earning job than running around the land lobbing heads off!" "I told her she'd be better off with that blacksmith down the road. I mean what good are you to your family when you take an arrow to the knee?!!" And what template would be used for the mother-in-law character herself? Why, a dragon of course!

The Skyrim 1.5 patch has done this. I think it is to do with a navmesh issue. Some modders are working to have their mods adjusted so it doesn't happen as much, but to adjust navmeshes is apparently a really big task. I am finding this is happening in vanilla cells also. Markarth for instance. Perhaps Bethesda will do an update of the patch to correct this issue. Fingers crossed. I simply save prior to going through any door!

I'm Premium but cannot access premium download servers
Basil_oz replied to Basil_oz's topic in Site Support
Yeah I am. I logged out and relogged in and it did the trick! Thanks heaps for your quick reply. Cheers -
Hi. I'm a Premium member but I cannot access the premium download servers. When I choose them it asks if I want to go Premium. I'm logged in, my profile states that I'm Premium yet the site does not recognise this when I wish to download files. What gives? How can this be fixed please?
