1. Hi there, I'm having issues with my game CTD'ing, and I'd like a bit of help identifying the problem. First I'll try to give you a run down of my specs. OS: Windows 7(64 bit) RAM: 8gm GPU/Video Card: GTX 960 (2gb vram) Processor: AMD FX-8320e(3.1 ghz) I am playing a heavily modded game, I'll say that right off the bat. Things work fine up until the main issue here, which is a CTD when loading what seems to be random cells. 169 installed mods, 222 plugins. Yes, it's bad, I know. Please help :l tl;dr I don't forum too often so I don't know exactly how to get logs to you, whomever you are. So I'll post a spoiler of the past few dozen lines up until the crash at the bottom of the page. I will also attache the latest papyrus log as well, which has what I believe is the error. Background on the issue: The defining mod I have on is Requiem. I played 12 hours on my first attempt of this build just fine, besides issues you'd expect like the OCCASIONAL ctd or bug that I had to work around. Eventually I came to Mist Watch tower, and cleared out most levels before reaching the top floor, where I believe the boss is. However, every time I entered the place the game would CTD. I tried to remedy the issue by uninstalling/reinstalling a couple mods I saw near the end of the log, and eventually googled a string of an error and found that it was unfixable. An object was being assigned value (none) and the game was s***ing itself. So, I figured it was because I installed several mods during the playthrough and made a new save. This one loaded Mistwatch properly when I coc'd to the area. So I began once more, brand new save, hoping the issue was resolved. Unfortunately, it's occurred again, in the papyrus log something is being assigned a (none) value and the game CTD's. This time it's when I enter the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. On the original playthrough, it worked fine. What gives? Is this the result of an unstable mod setup? Bad luck? This save is 4 hours old and only level 6 or so, so it doesn't make sense to me that the game is having issues with backed up references. As I said, I'll post a spoiler of the log before CTD. I would like to point out that in the previous saves logs, these two things are common in the error: "MBI_Dante_boss_Battle_scene_alias_holder_1" "MBI_clean_allmusic_1.psc" Not sure if that's the key, but hopefully someone is.
2. That's ok don't worry about it. \ You did all you could, and more. Thank you for trying, and late Happy New Years!
3. I got a little fancy and made this: http://screencast.com/t/btxvrYHIMZag Edit one: The Launcher is the one titles "FalloutLaunchers" The one I have titled "Falloutlauncher" is the fose script to start the game. If I run Falloutlaunchers Steam will open
4. Ummm... I don't know. Like I said, I had to rip it out of steam. So now, when I try to open the launcher file, instead it opens steam and tells me to re download and install the game again. I had all the graphics set to what they needed to be at, I didn't think it was a problem at the time... So I run the update It updates the game, then opens the game. As far as I can tell, nothing changes, I can run the game fine, just no graphics options...
5. I did the update, it did not change anything I do not think. At least, my .exes just start the game up like normal, no launcher. Steam is saying you don't exist, but that's ok ha ha
6. Alright, one thing to note though: The sound It started when you first boot up the game. You know how when you start Fallout, you hear the... Ok, it's hard to describe. But you hear stuff. Like the pictures sliding, and music playing as you select your options. The save is not the only thing where the bug happens. From the very beginning, music does not exist. The problem occurs as soon as fallout is opened. The only sound that can be heard before you load a save is the "click click click" of your mouse over the menu options, like "new game" and "load game". Come to think of it... Isn't that what darnBtn.xml changes...? <clicksound> UIMenuOK </clicksound> <mouseoversound> UIMenuFocus </mouseoversound> Now, to settings. I can't open the original launcher for the game... I had to rip it from Steam in order to mod it, because Steam was making things impossible. (I DO own the game though, paid my $11.99, lookup "TheKillingJay" on Steam if you must know. Aimed at other people who may view this) So I can give you a rough guesstimate for that. Resolution: 16:9 Full screen Quality: High All I can remember... In game settings are very malleable... however, here are some Difficulty: Hardcore All Save features: Off Hud colors: Blue Everything else is pretty much a bar... I do not know if you want or need this, but here are my pc specs: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit Processor: AMD® AM3 Processor Graphics card: RADEON™ HD 6670 GPU 512MB-1GB GDDR5 Memory: 6gb Sorry for lack of spoiler, I can't find the button to make them :c
7. That's ok... We all have to rest sometime, I just finished myself ^_^ I just looked it through in Notepad ++, I found a couple instances of "sound" but no "music" I am also not sure exactly what I'm reading in those... Where you are to change settings inside is not obvious for your "average player" Good luck with simulating it again... Any number of factors could have gone wrong in it, as I am sure you know. It may have just been a fluke, a one in a million thing... But it must be hard... thank you, once more for taking the time to do this...
8. Doing that changed nothing, no affect. I want to figure this out. As for .xml files, I gave them a lookover. All the ones in the Fallout install seem to have nothing to do with sound, except maybe for dialog_menu Here is a .rar of every .xml in my Fallout 3 install: http://www.2shared.com/file/GDlpAH4v/Every_XML_in_Game_Install.html I install my mods in an order... First big overhauls... FWE, EVE, WMK, MMM, etc. Then I install the patches for those... Then a bit of lighting... Then content, like quests, homes, and some cool features... Then I install aesthetic mods, like textures, animations, body, etc... The problem originated when I was installing content... And around when I installed UIO I did not install any mods that affected Music(That I am aware of) until after the problem started. It was when I tried to make a selection of music that I really "noticed" the problem. Here is a screenshot of the all of the mods I installed around when the problem started. I think UIO was the cause. You can not see it on the list, but at some point I believe it was around 12:30 (The arrows just point at the time and date, nothing more) http://screencast.com/t/Qdszu3d1cm9K While we are not looking at mods now, maybe this will shed some light. Edit One: In the red square is the time that the problem started. Edit Two: I can not remember exactly when I installed Ambient Wasteland first... I uninstalled it a couple times because I thought it was the cause at some point... It may have been around the time as the others in the box.
9. Alright, here it is... Be prepared to be dumbfounded I tried to fix it on my own with a few mods, none of them worked. The game still works fine, I only crash after an hour or so of play, instead of the 5 minutes I would sometimes get. At this point I've accepted that music will not work... So if there is nothing you can do, that's ok However, there is one possible lead: Ambient Wasteland mod It adds in sounds... And it works fine. All other sound mods do not work. A possibility: Ambient wasteland uses .WAV audio files... Meaning if I changed fallouts .mp3 to .WAV, I think something interesting may happen... But some sounds in Fallout work already, like Gunshots, Voices, footsteps, etc. And those are all .mp3s. But it would be a process, and take forever to convert all files. So even if this IS the case, converting all those files... May not be possible, or worth it. But I'm probably wrong anyways... Here is Save: http://www.2shared.com/file/0-5rinzr/Profile_1_Save_7.html
10. My load order now looks very clean and happy, However, I don't think I'm going to do the purge for the music... But that's ok, I will just have to cut my losses I suppose. Thank you very much for your help and time. I really appreciate it, and wish I could help you in return, but problems you have are probably way over my head. With this, shiny, new, clean, and happy load order, I shall go have fun in your name!
11. I use NMM, should I switch to FOMM to get this working? Unsurprisingly, I am confused. I need to install these 2 text documents, as in place them "into the install info folder where fomm installs it's assets " Where exactly is that? I do not have FOMM or BOSS. Boss should be easy to install, but I think FOMM will give me some trouble if I have NMM too right? As I'm sure you are aware, I'm not the best with this stuff, I thought I knew my way around this, but I clearly don't. Sorry for the frustration, and thank you for putting up with it. You really didn't have to help me but you did, and even if we didn't fix the problem, at least I have a "slightly" better understanding. I understand if my stupid is too much to put up with, I can only imagine how frustrated you are dealing with my "triumphs" and quite frankly I'm surprised you even tried.
12. Ha, that's just the thing, the templates (what little I've found on some mod pages) are for the most part outdated... I did what I could based off of that, but for the bigger mods (FWE, MMM, EVE, etc.) many files have been switched, added, removed and it was a headache putting it all together(As modding fallout always is, ha). I was mainly using LOOT to find conflicts and such(Yes, I got a bit... Maybe a LOT lazy and didn't use FO3Edit to find them). Then I accidentally hit "apply" once, it reorganized everything, and at that point I just left it at that. Yea, I never knew what to make of those two, I just figured they had their purpose so I left them. I THINK they both came from the FWE Main install mod... Otherwise I see what you mean. The FWE alternate file? I knew it was flagged as an .esm, but I didn't really take a close look at it... Now I DO feel dumb, I relied a bit too much on LOOT, if that wasn't obvious enough already. As for other Blackened is supposed to be a mod that makes those 4 compatible, "In short, Blackened is a compilation of patches meant to improve compatibility between many of the bigger and/or more popular overhaul mods available for Fallout 3."[/size] I've kept a close eye on it, it's loaded right, what is wrong with it? http://www.2shared.com/file/p2nkazxp/Save_829_-_Jay_Leeland_The_Cap.html Save with very minor changes to load order. I have so many different patches for this and that I don't particularly know what needs to go where, or in what order. Same results after loading.
13. I use LOOT to organize it mostly, and I've kept most conflicts down to a minimum on the "rek your s#*!" scale. Alright, not a problem. The game doesn't let me do anything because FOSE is gone, as some mods keep showing notifications that it's missing and it needs to be installed, so I cannot test it much. And to be more specific about the 666 thing, it was a bar, similar to the Health Bar, above the Health Bar with the letters "NV" above it and 666 next to the "ticks" of whatever it stands for.
14. Alright, well thanks for this, even if we can't solve the problem. I'll just have to sing "II don't want to set the world on fire" to myself while I play heheh Game loaded fine after removing fose. All of the mods relying on it went a bit crazy, and a new thing on my UI popped up and happened to have "666" on it(I don't even, lol). Problem persisted
15. http://www.2shared.com/file/Mz7RE0_g/Profile_1_Save_6.html I have that arrangement except for these: ssce5432.dll FO3Edit_r1839.exe GECKicon.ico GECK.exe GECKReadme.txt Fallout3.exe.cat(I have Fallout3.exe.cat.off) Edit Scripts Other than that, I have everything inside Video, Music, and Shaders. Edit One: The save is probably full of many, many things. The game is currently heavily modifed. I don't know what looking into a Fallout save is like, but I would imagine with all the mods I have it's a little difficult. Sorry :I
