Heya, wondering if anyone can help me out. I've gone on a modding spree to get myself back into Fallout 4 after acquiring it for the PC finally - with the restrictions on modding not gone but more lax, I've endeavored to make an expansive rework of the gameplay experience while being mindful of not overextending the limits the PC has (iirc: 550 Ba2s, 255 Esps, another 255 Esls). Well I've come in with a handy bit of wiggleroom under those figures and wouldn't you know it, I'm still crashing to desktop before I can even start the game up! I've doublechecked and triplechecked and stuff 'should' be fine: conflicts are already resolved where they exist (there were about 7 in a load order of 252 mods - I'd consider that reasonably small), a good chunk of the esps came "marked as esls" which should (theoretically) give me more wiggleroom in loadup (only about 130 aren't marked light counting those that are native to the game folder from DLC), and loathe though I am to do so I've even taken the liberty of disabling a few mods to put more space between me and the esp limit. I know it's the mods because purging them allows the game to start up in vanilla, and redeploying them revives the problem. Fortunately this means the game itself is functional though, and nothing destructive has been done. But that also doesn't make it easy to diagnose, and I'm looking for solutions. If any of those solutions let me bring any of the other mods back in it's a nice bonus; but all things considered I have nothing which depends on any of them, so they can safely be discarded. Major mods of note: - I've installed true storms and vivid weathers together with a compatibility patch that should allow them to function in tandem with changing seasons - for what I feel would be maximum weather immersion. - I've installed america rising 2 and the danse dilemma. In my mind, these are necessary to make the BOS something besides enclave lite; providing them with their longstanding arch-enemy as well as allowing you to put the brotherhood on a better path than Todd Howard's retcon Elder Maxson's Wild Ride. - Scourge, Simple Damage Tweaks, Deadlier Deathclaws, Seek and Destroy, and Arbitration all serve the same purpose: to smooth out the combat experience; making encounters that should be dangerous dangerous, increasing the intelligence of the AI overall, bumping up damage taken, curbing HP sponge problems at leveling points where those are issues, and allowing a lot of fine-tuning when those things stop being issues and I want to maintain a challenge. - A good number of weapon mods have been installed alongside munitions and levellist injectors to diversify the weapons carried by humanoid enemies in later levels; sticking to predominantly lore friendlier ones - the MG42, the Service Rifle, the Wattz Laser Rifle, and the G11 among others. Equilibrium has been installed to better balance the weapons that were already there. - Retextures (in theory) improve performance while also improving looks because Bethesda packaged some environmental textures at over 2k with a resolution more befitting of 1k. - SMM and SKE provide a framework that improves settlements upon which Between Snap n'Build, Homemaker, Oppressor's Military Workshop, and a few others expand. - Minutemen are overhauled with We Are The Minutemen and Militarized Minutemen to improve their credibility as a faction choice.
