  1. I hated steam but have a handle full of games on it part by accident & now with AvP reboot as a concession. The big trouble is the Games companies hold the keys, they make the games & sell them the way THEY want. If they use a method which pirates hack quickly & often they will stop using that approach. If your addicted to games your going to have to make your own or buy ones with shitty protections. :( I see STEAM and clones of it becoming the NORM for PC and no way gamers can stop it now. Its as inevitable as Ads on TV :( The golden age of PC games only in boxes is fading & im sad.
  2. Ask yourself this.... Do you like STEAM? If so then accept this as UBISOFT trying to come up with their version of STEAM authentication. If you don't like this then logically you can't like steam. Last time I looked Lots of people liked Steam. I'm not one btw, although I have accidentally purchased 3 games which need steam :(
  3. I don't see a problem here. Bethesda have been using the Gamebryo engine for a while and have released mod resources for it. Also they have just recently bought iD who also have a history of releasing mod resources. Both Gamebryo & iD are not going to drop their tech. Sure MMO's can't be modded but for other games the devs know that for their tech to take hold in the market its got to offer moddability so that new talent for their dev teams can be found. Still IF the PC market drys up into 'MMO's only' due to pirating fears, then yeah all game devs are going to have a hard time getting new workers to build using their engines and they will have chased cash for short to mid term gains. But I don't think they are that daft. Sure the marketing bunch are, but the game builders aren't. BTW Another factor which is easily over looked is the gamers 'changing attitude' to games as they get older. i.e sometimes its not the game its the gamer. I know I suffer from this if I play COD4 I get owned a lot now but 10 years ago I was good!
  4. Well its an iD tech powered multi-player game set in another post apocalyptic place written by a talented dev team who know how to use iDs engines. So it will be a very polished fluid game. However as already pointed out, Boarderlands (an Unreal tech powered game) set in another post apocalyptic place has already beaten Brink to market. I'm not a great fan of steam though so if its steam free i will pick this over Boarderlands. But the artistic style chosen for the players face is too similar to some poor sod with MICROCEPHALY which isn't good to have. It wouldn't have taken much for an artist to google small heads would it?
  5. Would your site be able to create a NEXUS for this game? The reason I ask is that it uses the same Gamebryo engine as Oblivion & should be easy to mod for. My only concern is that nobody is reviewing this game and I only just noticed it came out on the 20th so it might have fewer players.
  6. I just though I would post a glowing praise of the FO3 part of the nexus site I stumbled upon it only a month or so ago and would like to thank the web site guys and all the contributors for such good work Cheers :thanks: best Wishes from Cloud (aka an old Q3 modder)
