Zombie Apocalypse Mod with invisible zombies. What's wrong?
RedRyette replied to RedRyette's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Okay, I've re-installed Steam and Fallout 3. Steam is now located in C:. However, my zombies are still invisible. I've used ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated, and "activated" it. They're still invisible. Edit: I forgot what you said about FOMM having Archive Invalidation, but I deleted the additional one I added, and then deactivated and reactivated the one in FOMM. Though my problem persists. -
Zombie Apocalypse Mod with invisible zombies. What's wrong?

Actually, installing it through Steam means I have to move the entire Steam directory. I'm sure I just google that, so again, thanks for your help. -
Zombie Apocalypse Mod with invisible zombies. What's wrong?
RedRyette replied to RedRyette's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Got it. Thank you. Before I begin this next download of F3, could you recommend a place to download it to? Would saving it to Computer (C:) be fine? Edit: well, I'm gonna go with that and be hopeful it's not a mistake! -
Zombie Apocalypse Mod with invisible zombies. What's wrong?
RedRyette replied to RedRyette's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Alright, that helps a lot. Could I simply change the location of Fallout 3, then? Take it out of Program FIles? I mean, I know you said ArchiveInvalidation isn't necessary, but I've heard it's simpler to use. I'd like to stick with it. -
I'm using the mod "Zombie Apocalypse", which is no longer on the Nexus, so I had to download it manually. The zip file I downloaded came with the Zombie Apocalypse.esm file, the two .dds color/texture and normal map files, and then the zombie model for the new creatures. I've posted a link to the download site in another thread of mine that, at the moment, is a little lower than this one on the forum, but here it is again: http://www.fileplanet.com/216909/download/Fallout-3---Zombie-Apocalypse-Mod I placed the two .dds files into Steam>SteamApps>Common>Fallout3>Data>Textures And I placed the model file, the NetImmerse/Gamebryo file, into Steam>SteamApps>Common>Fallout3>Data>Meshes And of course the .esm file went into the Fallout3>Data I'm pretty confident in my placing of those files, so my guess is that it has to do with ArchiveInvalidation Invalidate, which I have placed in Steam>SteamApps>Common>Fallout3 Now, I've changed it to "Activate", as it told me to do in the Zombie Apocalypse readme, but it does nothing. It does, however, give me the message "Fallout 3 is installed in your Programs Files folder, this may cause Fallout 3 to behave strangley! See readme for more details." I don't know if this actually matters, because all the readme says about that is for Windows Vista, while i'm using Windows 7. And even then, I don't know how that would have anything to do with this mod. It may be completely irrelevant. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for you time.

Lack of a good zombie apocalypse mod?
RedRyette replied to RedRyette's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
I seem to have found the mod elsewhere, on accident. I blame my sleep deprivation for not thinking of that sooner. Here's the link (automatic download upon loading the page) if anyone else is interested: http://www.fileplanet.com/216909/download/Fallout-3---Zombie-Apocalypse-Mod The link appears safe, even though it scared me when it started. Normal mod files inside. Happy zombie slaying! -
I've seen people link a mod called "zombie apocalypse" up to last February, and then it vanished. I saw some good-looking video of it - with additional complimentary mods - on youtube and was very excited after I finished it, only to be greatly disappointed by it's apparent removal. That mod aside, are there any other equal or better mods for a zombie apocalypse experience? I've gone through the few that I could find on Nexus (I hope I missed at least one good one), and I'm just not satisfied with them. Help would be most appreciated!

It seems to be running perfectly fine about a half an hour in. Thanks so much! I'll look up my chip and give you the details, Purr. I'll put it in an edit. I actually don't know how to find what I'm looking for, through google... Could you tell me where to look for details on that? Also, I forgot to mention that I downloaded Directx 9. I heard that Directx 11 might be an issue, so I did that last night. I didn't try the game again until after I'd edited the correct ini file, so I don't know if that actually helped me at all. But if you're still having an issue after the ini fix, try that too.

Okay, I haven't read the the post above this one yet, but the guide I was following told me to edit to Fallout_default.ini for a Steam version. I'll presume that was my problem, and I'll go fix it now. I guess I should also put that ini back to it's original state? As for the graphics card, I don't really know anything about that stuff. I haven't been able to get past the birth scene, as I stated above, but I've been able to run Oblivion, and even Skyrim pretty well. But if I have any issues with it, I'll check around Nexus. Thanks

I've followed this exactly, and mine still won't get past the birth scene. The same problem he mentioned in the OP. I guess all I can do is post my system info and hope you guys can help. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4096MB of RAM 1696MG of VRAM, Intel HD Graphics Family Using DirectX 11 2.10GHz Intel Quad Core i3 I have the latest patch, and my issue is the same the OP had, without the same happy ending.

well, it's just a fairly simple staff :p I'm not worried about FPS lag. But that makes sense. My current computer is low performance anyway, so I'll keep that in mind. I think I would sooner make an awesome mod for everyone (when I get around to publishing my work) before I made something with my crappy laptop in mind, though. I think most mod users should be running better computers at this point - the game being 8 years old.

Damn. Alright, thank you, both of you. See, I was really hoping I could do what Ken mentioned: make the detail myself. I'm a decently talented artistic, and I am more than willing to spend the time necessary in Blender to get that small detail that looks so gorgeous in-game. It seems like making the detail myself would make a normal map unnecessary, but I can figure it out if I must. I'm going back to the beginning of the UV mapping and texturing process, and I'll start off slow.
-
I'd just like to know: Is texturing something really simple? And that's why nobody goes into huge detail for Oblivion texturing? I think the part I'm most confused on is the making a Normal Map to go over the base color pattern, to add an actual texture to it. Is that part necessary? I did skip it when I attempted to color part of my staff for the first time, and the color I created in Gimp didn't show up on it, even though I'm sure I follow all steps I've seen for the basics. If that's all I need to learn (making normal maps), I'll understand why I'm having so much trouble figuring this out. Edit: I made a tiny bit of progress, I think. I was able to get the marble texture to show in NifSkope, but instead of it being on just the parts I sectioned off in the UV map before making the color in Gimp, the pattern I made is on the entire staff... I'm guessing my problem here is in Blender. Could anyone help with how to put different textures on specific parts of the staff? That's something I haven't seen done in any tutorial, bad or good.
-
The title should read: Looking for someone to teach me how to texture realistically on a completely unique mesh. I didn't realize I ran out of space before I made the thread - Sorry... I've made a staff as my first mod, which I can share a link to if necessary, and I got it from Blender into Oblivion, but it has no texture (dull grey). Using Gimp 2.8, I absolutely cannot figure out how to texture something like this staff. I want to put a realistic shiny gold on most of it, and then there are bits with blue marble and a small cylindrical silver part. All of which should look real. I've seen a few tutorials on texturing with gimp, but those few for Oblivion weapons are just quick videos to show the basics. I haven't seen anyone put a real image on a weapon, except for in a couple Blender tutorials, where they duplicate a weapon from a picture and then place the image over it at the end. But I can't do that with this. This is the last step I need before I publish the mod, so help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
