I'm playing it safe and joining the empire because the way I see it, joining the stormcloaks is gonna get everybody killed, just imagine it, if the stormcloaks win and beat the empire the elves are gonna show and kill everybody but if they lose the empire gonna show up and kill everybody, so it's a lose-lose but siding with the empire is much safer.
