  1. I still kind of think that would take a lot out of the story. I mean, part of the Sole Survivor is also a revenge story if you play your cards right. It would also still leave quite a bit of dialogue to change, as well as differences in outcomes. But this idea is quite a good deal better than the last one, and does show some promise. I think it might work depending on how you swing things.
  2. I'm not really a huge fan of this. It just seems, well, kind of generic? It also goes against what the GECK is, which takes all the matter in the area and recombines it, meaning that the actual effect wouldn't just be green ground, but the destruction of the entire settlement. I'm sure you could Game Logic yourself out of it, but it's a point to mention. As an alternative, i'd like to suggest you go check out the original plans for Fallout: Tactics 2, which was to take place in Florida, where a GECK was affected by radiation and transformed the environment into a crazy mutated jungle swampland. That seems a lot cooler.
  3. Maybe some more info about the project? If it's going to be as expansive as you're speaking of, it would be nice to know you've started laying groundwork.
  4. I believe all of that is trademarked, and thus can't be hosted on the Nexus.
  5. http://i.imgur.com/I91T1zE.png Made a quick modified Skaia as a stand-in logo. I may or may not continue using it, but it should do for now.
  6. These all look like some very interesting systems. I'd especially like to see synergy between all of them, to create a larger sense of connectivity. Besides that, concerning actually releasing the mod, you should probably focus on an individual module at a time, with a framework beneath it that'll keep them all working together. That way, people can take whatever they want from the mod and leaving anything they don't want. A bit like how Project: Nevada works.
  7. Yeah, that would be much more interesting, exploring an emotional connection that the Sole Survivor missed out on with his or her son that is both the boy you thought you knew, but completely different.
  8. You could have an inverted bolt, or a bolt surrounded by a mushroom cloud, ext. Not that big a change, so you can still recognize the team, but avoid any copyright trouble.
  9. Yeah, that would actually be pretty fun. Maybe even have a knockoff little hockey shop to get them in. Heh, I can see a terminal entry complaining about the prevalence of baseball in the commonwealth as opposed to hockey.
  10. I'm pointing out what I see as flaws in this idea. You are changing what is a fundamental driving force throughout the game, without which there is no story. The Sole Survivor is doing these to get her child back. Once you open up a can of worms like alternate dimensions, that weight is gone. It doesn't matter if the player can only use it once; you are introducing into this universe a known means of traveling between dimensions. The way you are reacting to what is some very reasonable criticism does not reflect well on your claims to over 20 years of modding experience. While the way criticism was given by some others here wasn't particularly good, that does not in turn entitle you to dismiss my own by saying I can't be pleased.
  11. Just make a similar logo. Its way easier and less legally ambiguous than this. Besides, then you could even give it a fallout twist.
  12. 1. Then it's not time travel, and your mod becomes infinitely more far fetched. There's already a log entry inside the Institute that pokes fun as stuff like that. Not to mention you Then bring in various other problems, like the fact that you just made the story have no impact. Why care about anything or anyone if you know there's a device that can bring anyone back? 2. You would essentially have to change every single part of the Institute to reflect that change, down to the missions, NPCs, technology, ext. Then youd have to figure out how the Underground and Brotherhood would be affected by your changes, which would not only be difficult, but time consuming, as everything referring to what you changed had to be changed, and everything that is referring to what you changed because of the players changed also has to change. 3. No offense, but I have some trouble believing that.
  13. As stated above, I really think this idea needs to be refined more. For one, a 1/5 chance of death seems fairly arbitrary and unfair to a player, especially since they aren't being told of the risk. And, again, I really think the amount of work that would need to go into this is being underestimated.
  14. Here's a list of everything he's have to do as I see it: Create the quest Script the quest Copy the opening level Resceipt the opening level Redo both the make and female protagonist's dialogue Edit vault 111 Edit the Institute base Edit the Railroad HQ Edit anything referencing these places Edit the NPCs in these locations Edit the quests in these locations Edit elements of the story to fit these new groups and locations. Edit the endings and after-ending content. I'm probably missing some things here, but this isn't a bad general list.
  15. This might be better suited for the mod request forum.
  16. Something like time travel can be done effectively and well. We saw this in D.E.I.M.O.S. However, that mod was on a small scale, very fleshed out, didn't affect the larger world, and didn't actually change anything. It just allowed the player to experience the past.
  17. Just gonna interject here quickly. This mod doesn't seem very feasible. I have a few reasons why I believe this: 1. This would essentially completely change the timeline in ways you might not have considered. It's called the Butterfly Effect, where something small can have big consequences later. When it comes to pivotal characters like the Sole Survivor and the Father, changing events surrounding them could have some massive effects that would potentially break the games story. 2. The amount of scripting and modifying that would be needed in this would be intense. The Institute would have to be reworked massively to fit this new version of events, as well as any other groups in the Wasteland that have been affected by the Institute. 3. This is a very ambitious mod for one person. I assume this is also your first mod of this type, if not your first mod at all. I believe this idea as a whole is unworkable in its current state. The idea of Time Travel is interesting, but the details would need to be fleshed out a lot better.
  18. Nah XD Although something like that in the engine would be pretty sweet.
  19. Yay I guessed right! Anyways I like the idea of your mod. Cool stuff. Thanks! Support is always appreciated!
  20. Indeed, I'm showing off the troll meteor there. Basically, it will be partially buried in the ground in a large crater, and you'll be able to enter the meteor through a hatch on the outside. Obviously the interior will all be done in interior cells.
  21. See, that's the kind of stuff that is ideal for posting. It shows active development.
  22. Just a quick update for now: I'm currently working on the Troll Asteroid, which will be a focal point of the mod. Right now i'm working on the world model, and i'm fairly happy with how it's coming along.
