  1. In response to post #54544303. I agree that "highly moddable" is a serious overstatement, and that the tools are limited, I think the modders have done a great job with what they have. You can't completely transform TW3 like any of the elder scrolls/fallout games, but there are many improvements to be gained from mods.
  2. In response to post #54540603. Give the first one a try. If you are ok with the gameplay (which hasn't aged very well), the stuff you learn about the story and lore is pretty cool. And the second game is actually pretty great by itself. The story doesn't really continue, but there are a lot of referenced to 1 and 2 in 3. And imo knowing them makes the wild hunt more enjoyable and gives it a much more familiar feel.
  3. All right, game is installed completely fresh, not a single old file in any of the new folders. The saves which worked before still work, but the 70% which cause the game to crash still do just that, in exactly the same way. But with all the mods I used to run, I really don't feel like putting in all the time to attempt to fix this anytime soon. Thanks a lot anyways.
  4. OK, folders are cleaned and Fo4 does not remember my saves. Will do the rest of what was suggested on page 1 tomorrow.
  5. Does Fallout 4 detect any saves automatically, even if they are on another harddrive? I deleted everything from the original folders after doing the backups, but now that I reinstalled it, I can still access all the saves. No files were left in the folder on my initial harddrive, nothing on my SSD (which is where I moved the files a while ago) and I removed the My Games Fallout 4 folder as well. Just checked it, the game automatically restores the saves folder in My documents > My Games and adds all the saves from my backup folder. I tried disabling the Steam Cloud automated update function now and will re-install Fo4 another time. I have a feeling that it could work now.
  6. Yea, seems like the files left over mods are there (esp files). But since I already backed up that folder, I should be able to just delete it completely, right? Because there are some files in there which are not ESPs. I overreacted, which is hopefully at least a bit understandable (100 hours is a lot of time). I was just very surprised that a game as simple as Fallout 4 would react in such a way to a simple texture mod, when in other games deleting and adding code was completely fine.
  7. Ok, I just got done backing everything up and then uninstalled all the mods using NMM, but I still have quite a few files in the plugins tab. Is this something that needs my attention (Or rather your's, because I have no idea what I sould do if it is something important)?
  8. Ah yes, that actually clears quite a bit up, thanks. One thing I forgot to mention is that I moved Fo4 from my regular harddrive to my SSD, as well as NMM. I thought I had gotted away with it.... :/
  9. Yea, Bathesda definetely won't be getting any money from me anymore, if at all possible. But I'd still like to get my saves back. This isn't a Bethesda issue, it's a modding issue. Modding your game is always a risk. Well, games like The Witcher, Dragon Age, Arma etc. never had any issues that I couldn't solve myself. And the mods I have in Fallout 4 are incredibly basic compared to the ones in those games.
  10. While the game is running? Not even I am stupid enough to delete files of an active application.

  12. Hi, First of, I usually know my way around simple PC related stuff such as NMM, but I'll leave any assumptions etc. out for now, because whatever I thought might fix my problem didn't work. I have about 130~ hours playtime in Fallout 4, which is quite a lot considering my work schedule. During my last session I noticed that the "Pipers Trench Coat Retextures" by Dala was active, even though it did not show up in my NMM list. This was causing some texture/clipping issues, so I decided to manually uninstall the mod. However I couldn't find the files in the standard NMM mods folder, so I used the Windows search function and ended up finding it in another one. Now please don't lynch me for this, but little ignorant me thought that simply deleting the mod folder would work, and it kind off did but did not at the same time. At this point the mod folder was in my Windows recycle bin, but the mod popped up in NMM as active, so I used NMM's uninstall option to uninstall it properly. After doing so, I launched the game, selected my latest save, got the "standard" message about how some files appear to be missing (which I assumed was simply because the modded textures were gone) and the game started loading like every time, nothing unusual. But after about 20 seconds (that's how long it usually takes me to load into the game), Fallout 4 crashed without any error popup. Here is what I tried, which didn't work: -Running the game without any mods -Restoring the deleted mod from the Windows reycle bin -Re-installing the mod using NMM -Using Steam's file checking/repairing function However, for whatever reason, the early saves I made during the first 30 or so hours of the game still work fine, both with and without mods. I even replayed all of the missions I had a the time, trying to re-create whatever could "trigger" the issue. At this point I'm utterly clueless, but I will try my best to give anybody that could help me all the information they need.
  13. Ok, everything is working now. UPDATE: I got it working on the SSD, all the save files are there and working. But when trying to start NMM for Fallout 4, I get this popup (I have already rescanned the games, and NMM found my FO4 in the correct place on my SSD, but this popup is about the first/original drive (E is the one where it was installed before, now it is on C). As a result of this, none of my mods are working. I'll look into it myself if I get the time, just posting this in case anybody knows a way so I can save some time. Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been answered before, bu I could not find anything myself. I want to move Fallout 4 to my SSD, as the loading times I get on the harddrive it is currently installed on are incredibly annoying. (I did the whole "sResourceDataDirsFinal=" thing, but that didn't really help). And while I was able to find instructions on how to move Steam games, I was wondering how this correlates with .ini changes, saves and mods. I did already create a backup just in case, but I would prefer not having to use it. What do I need to watch out for when changing the directory in Steam (telling Steam from which location to load the game)? Are there any things I need to do before anything else? I have never done anything like this before, and would hate to lose my 100 hours of playtime to something as silly as a badly optimized game mechanic. Cheers!
