I have been struggling to build a base and searched the net and learned how to use tcl to work around some of the problems I was having. Then today I came across this video of building tips - DOH. All explained in minutes. I hope this works. If you are having problems building check it out. Just had to share it.

My first impressions of FO4 were not favorable because I was making comparisons to a super tuned, super modded version of Skyrim that I have been playing for years, and so if you like, I was trying to compare apples to pears. After a few hours of play I even considered removing FO4 but persevered, updated drivers and tweaked the ini files and set about building a settlement and waiting for the mods to start appearing, which they have, and some are already showing signs of great things to come. I am not wild about the FPS part of the game being more into RPG but I have "tweaked" my mind to accept what is. Knowing how good our modders are, there will be the equivalent of Start a New Life with there being no need to worry about Sean, who to be honest I haven't seen for a couple of hundred years and so care little about him and there will be "intelligent" companions like the fantastic Vilja and Sofia of Skyrim. I am sure that a year from now, the modded FO4 will be considered as bland as what the vanila Skyrim is to new players. So, stick with it and I know you will be rewarded with a game that you will be playing for years.

Barely 3 hours in and I'm thinking of waiting for the mods
Ramseur14 replied to vram1974's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Today, on my day off, I have spent all my time revolving between Skyrim ( with 141 mods) and FO4. I am desperately trying to like this game but failing badly. In Skyrim, because of the work provided by excellent modders, I have been having conversations, learning about new locations, singing, dancing (and more) and generally admiring the beauty of the Skyrim Landscape - day or night, it is breathtaking. In FO4, I have a dog that is immortal, a bunch of retards who want me to do everything and scenery that is as boring as my bathroom. The game is ok for a quickie fix of shoot everything but as a role playing game it sucks more than my granny without teeth. However, modders being what they are - they will fix it because that is what they do. Sorry if I appear to be an hater - I wanted just to be the Wanderer like the add said I could be. -
I read that the default is 16. I have set mine to 8 for the reasons given above.

Having seen what the superb modders did for Skyrim, I can only hope that they turn their attention to FO 4 soon, because at this moment I am really struggling to play the game. I learned years ago that a mediocre game could be made something special by modder, which is why I went down the PC path, and am currently taking heart from the news I read somewhere, that the guys who gave us SKSE are going to provide a Script Extender for this unfinished and disappointing, over hyped piece of work. If you are a pc player and enjoy real role playoing games then head for Skyrim and learn how to manage your mods and enjoy a truly great game while the modders fix this game. -
Why do people hate Fallout 4 so much?

I must confess to being a bit disappointed in this release, but coming from Skyrim (my all time favourite) with 240+ mods including, superb followers, homes, new lands and quests, I am sticking around to see what the modders produce to sort it out. Meanwhile I will just wait and check the Nexus daily. -
Does anybody know the best way to kill chickens and cows that are growing into large numbers at some of my locations. I cannot kill them as there are too many witnesses. I have tried summoning beasts through the console but they kill the civilians also.

I have looked at nearly almost all the comments and even went as far to go onto Steam, a place I rarely go. Sorry do not like the place and besides I am happy here at Nexus but I figured I had better see and understand what the hell is ripping us apart. Now I understand I can comment. I have made donations to some modders, I have bought the 3 DLCs to improve Skyrim because to be honest, the only reason Skyrim is more than a game is because the modders have enhanced it so much. Without their mods, by now after 3 years of play it would be gathering dust on my hard drive. I think I have always been a premium member of nexus because I really appreciate the site but I have learned the hard way how fragile a world Skyrim can be when it comes to the mods and so the 160 or so mods I have have been carefully selected not to crash the game. As a retired programmer, I know that an application can look really flash at the front end but inside it is worse than crap and even dangerous and that is true of mods. Some I have tried, look brilliant or the concept is superb but regrettably the code behind the front end lets it down and in the end it must be binned. I cannot afford to pay for the hundreds of mods I have tried and even if I were to give just £1 to every superb modders whose work I currently enjoy or remove them then I would have to remove them because I simply could not afford to pay or would pay over £200 for a game. This is just my personal opinion - I saw no need to go into the "split" of the pay mods.

Valve/Bethesda announce paid modding for Skyrim, more games to follow
Ramseur14 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I am getting on and retired. Skyrim is my escape after years of hard work and I have enough of a pension to make occasional donations to mods I really think have added value to the game. Sadly though, if I were to make a decent donation to all the great modders I would not have enough left to pay for my living expenses. I would rather pay a larger nexus yearly membership with perhaps a percentage of it going it into a pool for modders distributed by nexus yearly depending on number of endorsements or downloads. I WILL NOT pay for a mod for two reasons. 1. I cannot afford to and 2, what if it is crap or crashes my machine as some do. When it is free then it is down to me for downloading it. I have also started writing my own personal mods - how far I take it, who knows but I will make them for love of the game and not for money but if one was good and someone made a donation that would be great. A big thanks to all the modders who have turned Skyrim into something much more than a game. -
Thanks for this. I was wondering about how I would handle all my mods if I needed to do a complete reinstall of Skyrim.

I have Hearthfire and the other day a pack of wolves attacked one of my homes whilst my adopted children were out playing, on another occasion a bunch of bandits decided they wanted to kill and eat my new cow. This is not on. I do not like having to post "human" guards and so I wrote my first mod that is a Dwarven Sphere and I have parked him outside one of my homes and he works really good. However, I do not have the time or skill to improve on him and so I think it would be good if someone could write a mod with a small quest that leads to THREE Dwarven Spheres that you can have as followers and then post outside each home. Call them Guardian One, Two and Three and give them distinct voices. Male Argonian and female commander both work well. I use UFO and MHIYM mods and my mod worked well with them. Thanks in advance.

I have been using NMM offline for awhile now and wondering why I could not connect. Now I know. In the end I bit the bullet (have over 150 skyrim mods) and downloaded version 46. I then got it to check and update the mod versions and it is now working fine but I had my heart in my mouth.
