  1. What Hitesh12 said, plus, browse the "post" tab on the mod page to get a gist of what the community thinks and to post any questions you may have. Personally, I create an "FNV files" folder in my downloads folder and use the "download manually" option to store the mods zip files there. It is worth the extra steps involved to install a mod to have all of those zip files sitting on your hard drive (completely detached from any other game related folders) in case you screw up a deinstall. Also, it is worth the time to view all of Gophers modding tutorials as a starting point... http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42832/?
  2. At the risk of rehydrating a redundant topic...Are they really worth it? Personally, I have tried dozens of tweaks, used some prefabs and also use the configurator and in the end, most of them seemed to improve performance, but destabilize the game. I am now left with just the two cellbuffer entries and the preloadsizelimit entry tweaked. I have also read on some forums that the ini files should not be altered at all, especially the hardware threading tweaks. Many find it curious why none of the game devs have offered any input regarding ini file adjustments. There are some that think that of these tweaks as mere placebos. I realize that there are many variables at play here, system specs, mods installed, ect, but what has your experince with ini adjustments/experiments been like? Are there any that you would (as a rule of thumb) recommend experimenting with?
  3. Nice rig... There are a lot of folks much more qualified than I on this forum that can give you better and more detailed information than I, but, I can tell you this....You're going to need that 4G enabler if you plan on installing a lot of mods, better textures, shaders ect. Even with a super-rig like yours, you're going to need it to help you squeeze all that you can out of a limited and buggy game engine like the one Fallout and FNV are built on.
  4. Thanks, Eric. I loved Wrye Bash for Oblivion, but most of the posts I've managed to locate via googling seem to lean toward FNVEdits merged patch for FNV. But, after looking at the header of my current FONVEdit patch it seems to be limited compared to what Flash incorporates. should I just delete my merged patch and create a "bashed patch" ? load order: FalloutNV.esm DeadMoney.esm HonestHearts.esm OldWorldBlues.esm LonesomeRoad.esm GunRunnersArsenal.esm ClassicPack.esm MercenaryPack.esm TribalPack.esm CaravanPack.esm IWS-Core.esm Advanced Recon Tech.esm CINEMATECH.esm NSkies URWLified.esm Project Nevada - Core.esm Project Nevada - Equipment.esm Project Nevada - Extra Options.esm ELECTRO-CITY - CompletedWorkorders.esm ELECTRO-CITY - Highways and Byways.esm oHUD.esm DFB - Random Encounters.esm Project Nevada - Rebalance.esp Project Nevada - Cyberware.esp DarNifiedUINV.esp CASM.esp The Mod Configuration Menu.esp The Weapon Mod Menu.esp Project Nevada - Cyberware Additions.esp Project Nevada - Rebalance Complete.esp Project Nevada - All DLC.esp Improved Sound FX.esp Improved Sound FX - Weapon Sharing Fix.esp Improved Sound FX - Merged Major DLCs.esp Improved Sound FX - Project Nevada.esp DFB - Random Encounters - Update - MCM.esp FalloutNVCheatTerminal.esp IWS-Core-Patrols.esp IWS-Core-Guards.esp IWS-Core-Civilians.esp IWS-DM.esp IWS-HH.esp IWS-OWB.esp IWS-LR.esp Advanced Recon Gear.esp Advanced Recon Tech.esp Advanced Recon Gear-Locations Doc Mitchell.esp Advanced Recon Gear - Project Nevada.esp Armored Duster.esp FlashlightNVSE.esp Bullet Impact Increased LOD.esp WMXUE.esp WMXUE-PN.esp WMXUE-CouriersStash.esp WMXUE-ArenovalisTextures-CS.esp WMXUE-ArenovalisTextures.esp EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp WMXUE-EVE.esp Project Nevada - EVE All DLC.esp DYNAVISION 2 - Dynamic Lens Effect.esp ELECTRO-CITY - Imaginator.esp Directors Chair.esp PCB Hotkey.esp merged patch.esp Total active plugins: 63 Total plugins: 72
  5. Sorry, not an expert here but perhaps you should try the 4gb patch (NVSE version) with those textures/mods? A question....how did that texture optimization prog work for you? I've downloaded it, but am hesitant to run it cause i'm still learning about modding this game.
  6. Copied from another forum (To lazy to retype) I am newb to modding fallout NV and would appreciate any assistance or preference ... thanks folks, jim
