I had this problem recently. For me it was a case of missing masters. Have you installed a patch for a mod that isn't included in your load order?

No one at all? A little more information if it helps - currently using SkyRe, ASIS and patching it all up with SUM. I've never encountered the issue before so I'm not surprised no one is willing or able to assist...

Ok, odd problem this. Every time an NPC decapitates me, Skyrim CTDs. I've never experienced this with any of the characters I've used in the past, nor any mod combinations. Has anyone got any idea what might cause this? As I understand it, when an NPC or PC is decapitated, a kind of decap "item" texture is equipped, which makes the head invisible, similar to wearing some helmets which disable the head. Is it possible that is missing from my game, causing the CTD? Or is Skyrim now using some kind of forced censorship??? NSA???
