anjenthedog's post in Vortex 1.8.5 "Masterlist" issue was marked as the answer
thanks for the reply.
And there's the rub. I have no problems connecting or logging into github to my account from back when I was working as a web dev. And no other applications or websites are affected. Only Vortex.
BTW, it's suddenly loading correctly this morning with no further action on my part (ie deleting the indicated file or resetting my router). Odd. Must have been some address malformation at github or similar.

anjenthedog's post in How do i disable the mods that i have previously enabled. was marked as the answer
For anyone who comes across this post in a search for the answer, and since the OP didn't say *how he/she accomplished it...
IFF you use Vortex for installing mods, disabling a mod is as simple as clicking the green "enable" box in your mod list. Vortex will then disable the mod and (if you use FNIS) will re-run FNIS to handle any necessary changes.
Re-enabling is as simple as clicking that box again (although now it will say "disabled").
When you disable a mod, do make sure that nothing else is dependent on it before you disable it. And if it is a dependency, disable the mods upon which it relies to avoid ancillary problems.
When you re-enable a mod, do it in reverse. if you had disabled some dependency mod, re-enable it first, then the mods which need it...
