Some joy and pain. Laughter and tears.
Boredom and hysteria.
Victories and failures.
Prosperity and poverty.
Lessons learned and past mistakes repeated.
Procrastination and getting things done.
Death for some, life for others. Taxes for all.

Treatments are not cures. Cure a customer and they aren't a customer anymore. Treat a customer and you have a customer for life. That's the biggest perversion in medical research today... seeking treatments instead of cures.

Human nature. People pursue things that make their life better (subjectively).
Companies which are for-profit must undertake a business plan which has a chance at producing revenue... otherwise the company's owners will seek other management (who will presumably provide a better return on investment).
Individuals are also often wrapped up in their own lives, so philanthropy is not on their list of priorities. Superficiality is all too common.
Pleas for charity often turn me off... Guilt ridden tactics are extremely distasteful to me. Also, lots of charities are sadly turning into fund-raising organizations, with a disproportionate portion of donations going to administration and overhead vs. good acts.

When I do decide to give, I choose causes that have personal meaning to me... and sorry, but Malaria research isn't one of those things.
At the end of the day, spend your money on what you want to. If fighting Malaria is important to you, find a charity and donate / volunteer.

That's an old article... (from June '09). Anyone find out if they actually implemented this?

I see VR as a sort of vacation from real life, and if recognized as that (by the participant) I don't see any significant difference between VR and a benign destination vacation. However, when the lines between VR and true reality start to become blurred, that's when you'd need to be cautious. Failure to adequately and responsibly deal with reality is cause for serious concern.

Games are just the new kid on the block that some see as an easy target (music / TV / movies have had their time in this particular spotlight). Fear the unknown. Jump to conclusions. Don't think, react hysterically.
Consider the source:
Media organizations benefit (people consume their product more...) from controversy, so stretching the truth beyond recognition, while creating new hot-button topics (and higher ratings / more readers) is the name of the game. Infotainment.

Karma has indeed to do with ones behavior, weather it is atatched to a law or not.
Karma does not nessacerely mean that if you do something bad to day, you will get hit by a lightning stroke to morrow.
Karma can be that inner peace you can find within your self, knowing that you do what is right, accordind to your own codex.
Karma can also be a torment if one is in constant pain and unease, due to conflicts within the mind, because of some misdoing or behavior that one actually does not agree with.
Which is exactly the point. Everything you stated is either rooted in or ends up being part of a psychological process.
There is a big difference between what Balagor describes and your so called "Magical Thinking". Balagor's outlook on Karma is rational, not magical.

It really depends on skill mix and play style. You might find that the game quickly becomes incredibly hard, or it may be just perfect for you. Without more information on what your character build is going to look like, that's about the best answer you're going to get.
As a compromise, I'd use the +5 mod ptbptb linked above... that way you can spend a little time (just before levelling) gaining a couple levels in skills linked to attributes you want to raise. Minimal interruption to "just playing" while allowing you to keep up with the increased difficulty as you gain levels.

Time is not made. We all have an indeterminate amount of it, spending it as we live, never knowing when we'll run out. Working smarter to get the things done we need to get done allows more discretion in how the rest of our time is spent.
The time I spend gaming is basically when I don't have anything better to do (or I am procrastinating, avoiding doing something better... :pinch: ).

hmm... anyway there is no meaning to life do you get it do you? life has no meaning save what life means to you
I was talking subjectively, not objectively.

ESRB ratings are good informational tools for parents who care about what they expose their kids to. Parents can choose to look at the ratings or ignore them. It's their choice. Some youngsters have no problems with mature themes, with clear understanding of the difference between fantasy and reality. The difference between a game and real life ethical issues. Parent's are in the best position to decide what their children can handle. I am not opposed to restricted sales (based on ratings) accordingly. Retailers aren't parents.

I haven't read the whole thread, but have a few things to say on the subject.
1. I used to toke when I was a teenager (decades ago), and it brought absolutely nothing positive into my life. Quite the opposite actually (no legal problems fortunately, just life junk). A big waste of money, time, brain cells, lung health, fitness decline... damaging socially and emotionally too. I wish I had never even tried it.
2. There is another fundamental difference between alcohol and weed. When you have a drink, you have a drink... there is no such thing as second hand drinking.
3. For medical purposes, I have absolutely no problems with it being used responsibly. Delivery methods that do not risk cross-contamination (second hand smoke inhalation) should be investigated and implemented.
4. I don't really think weed needs to be criminalized, but as a mind altering drug, it (IMO) does need to be controlled. For recreational use, the most I would want (pertaining to legalization) would be licensed use. If you wanted to toke for fun, you'd have to buy a license, but licensed tokers couldn't have a drivers license, be pilots, police officers, doctors, lawyers, or anything else requiring clear thinking. Anyone unlicensed or without medical reasons couldn't have THC in their blood stream... punishments could include increasing fines, mandatory treatment / therapy... Repeat offenders would be forced to become licensed, with all the related consequences (revocation of privileges, restricted professions...). Disclosure of such a licence to employers would be mandatory. IMO, the so called "right" to toke should never override concerns pertaining to public safety (eg. roads free of impaired drivers...).

I'd probably only want to suggest new ones, not change the existing smilies...

There is a sitting bug associated with KotN, described here:

Soccer... I'm tall and not very light on my feet, making this not my game at all. Not fun (for me).
:pinch:
...but if you mean worst computer game, I'd say off the top of my head that the demo for Deus Ex 2 (the sequel) is certainly high up on stink my list. A colossal letdown (due to consolitis) considering how much I enjoyed the original.

I wonder how an immortal would answer the question "how it going" after a few eons existing in a burning nightmare (or drifting in the void of space) after the sun goes supernova.
Eternity is a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
-
I assume you used both DVD's during installation. If not, that would explain the problem. Otherwise...
For KotN, rumors are random... you might just be unlucky. Go to Anvil and
see if the Prophet is there / the church is destroyed... you can talk to the Prophet directly to start the quest.
For SI, the prompt takes "Typically, 24 in-game hours (but ranging from three hours to three days)"... be patient if you haven't played that long. Again, if you don't want to wait or just want to verify the add-on is working,
you can just swim to the island (if you know where it is).
Good luck.

I like the Invision style of emoticon best (I have a collection of well over 500... probably close to 1000). Very cute. Other styles just seem cheap / cheezy to me (but, to each their own).
The trick is in finding smilies that work with the background of the forum.
For example, it's almost impossible to see the music notes in this whistling one:
:whistling:
There are versions more appropriate for lighter backgrounds too:
