  1. I kill Clanfather Malifant, he resurrects (with the help of the shocking statues), and I kill him again. After that his corpse is left with the shock visual effect, and I can't activate his dead body like normal (for looting). Is this programmed / intended behaviour, or something I should troubleshoot as a bug? UESP pages for Ebrocca and Clanfather Malifant don't say anything about this behaviour.

PC, GotY with the applicable unofficial patches installed.

    TIA

    :)

    Edit:

Strange... I deactivate the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch and I can loot his corpse. :\ I guess the bug fix for the doors not opening on a revisit screwed this up.

  2. Evidence of a correlation is not the same thing as proof of a causal relationship (read post #18's first paragraph). The Scientific Method cannot be applied after the events being analyzed. Predictions must be made before the controlled experiment (which would require a control group to properly rule out extraneous factors). Empirical data obtained outside the structure of the SM is just evidence of itself, not scientifically applicable towards a retrospective hypothesis. Such a hypothesis is simply one possible explanation for the data.

This doesn't stop some scientists and most media from pronouncing some things as indisputable... "Truth". That's not science. It's politics.

  3. I really like this site, forums and community  , but have a suggestion for the forums.

I use the "View New Posts" listing to catch up on new things since my last visit, but I'm not interested in topics from games I don't own / play. When confronted with 5+ pages of threads to scan for topics of interest, I have to skim past a large portion of the posts... It would really make things easier for me if I were able to select what forums I'm interested in / not interested in (as an account option?), with only the applicable results being shown to me in Search Results (like from the View New Posts query).

I don't know if the Invision platform has anything like this functionality, or if it would be incredibly complex to implement, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask.

    Thanks for reading.

    :)

  4. ...

And is there any way to view more than my last 10 posts? Cause... normally that's how I see if something I posted has gotten replied to, but I can't view all my posts anywhere that I can find.

Click on your name next to one of your posts (above your avatar) for a drop-down list including a query for all posts by you.

  5. - Procrastination

    - I tend to ignore / escape vs. facing unpleasant reality... I used to drink, now I'm a gamer

    - Emotional immaturity: I either feel far too much, or nothing at all (defence mechanism)

    - I don't work at friendships, and they fade into oblivion...

Professionally (as I would say in a job interview): I'm not a salesman at all, instead tending to say the blunt honest truth, sometimes to my own detriment.

  6. Love and hate are both emotions, thereby defying logical quantification. They both involve caring about the subject matter though... with the opposite of such strong emotional states being apathy (contrary to popular belief, love and hate are not opposites... they can co-exist). When you care for something, how it effects you / your values will determine how you feel about it. There are certain biological imperatives involved too... ;)

    RE: spiders.

I know some are poisonous, most spin webs, and all eat other pests. I don't really care about them, but I do care about my health, and the cleanliness of my home. Since the spiders in my area of the world aren't really dangerous (bites are like mosquito bites... itchy / minor annoyance), I usually leave them alone when outside. Inside, I usually kill them when I see them... I don't like such pests spinning dust magnets / roaming around where I live / eat... This illustrates my apathy towards spiders: I only care about how they affect me. If I were to "hate" spiders, I would perhaps seek to do them harm regardless of their impact on me. Big difference.

  7. Climate change? Probably. Human caused climate change? Possible... but NOT possible to prove scientifically. 100% completely impossible. Such a proof would require a control group for comparison (a duplicate earth, starting in the exact same state, existing without human interference) and obviously this can't be done. Using history (the study of ice cores... even if this could be done accurately) isn't adequate because the starting state and all intermediary non-human variables (volcanic activity, tectonic plate shifts, solar flares...) wouldn't be identical (so alternate potential causal factors couldn't be ruled out).

Any "science" that is put on a pedestal of "consensus", with the scientific community shouting down / ridiculing criticism, is highly suspect. That's not science (the systematic pursuit of knowledge). It's politics.

I'm not saying that "anthropogenic global warming" isn't happening. I don't know. Neither do the "experts". And with the tone of the rhetoric, and the political rewarding of scientists who jump on the bandwagon (bias), I'm with the skeptics on this one.

All that being said, investing in smarter energy technology and conservation is something I can agree with (for more reasons than the climate change debate).

  8. I would make a universe where there was no unfulfilled need (food, clothing, shelter, health care...) and all desired resources plentiful. Life would be 100% about the pursuit of happiness, everyone with equal rights. Zero tolerance for crime... Anyone caught violating the rights of another person (infringing upon their freedoms without their permission) would be punished severely and without mercy. My will being the final word of justice.
  9. Anarchy is such an ugly word I prefer to use "Place with no rules and everbody is free"

then you have a lack of understanding, friend

    read Wolfe's book... and dream

    Fixed.

    hey now, uncalled for!

Just poking fun... no hostility intended. :) You admitted Anarchy isn't practical, and I consider unrealistic beliefs to be dreams / wishes / fantasies / delusions, so... ;)

  10. Best meal ever?

Grilled Prime Rib (so tender that it melted like butter in my mouth).

Stuffed baked potatoes (the innards removed, whipped with lots of good stuff like butter, sour cream, chives, bacon bits... then put back in the skins).

That's all I remember (it was about 30 years ago) but sufficient as burned into my memory.

  12. hey, anarchy isnt practical it iwll never work. Its just a fun idea, like having two sets of arms

Image that... freedom without responsibility or practical concerns... fun. Who would have thought?

    :P

    Edit:

Does this mean you'll be changing your avatar from the Anarchy logo?

  13. Callito,

Did you think Anarchy was going to be a beer and bongos?

I agree the Kartina aftermath was a good example of total Anarchy.

the topic of anarchy is just so much fun at school

Probably because you're just going through an unrealistic thought experiment... dreaming the impossible dream, where everything comes up smelling like roses... unlimited optimism. However, reality is what it is.

  14. Kudos to Vagrant0 for taking the time to explain all that in detail.

    :)

    calliton,

If you want to learn about Anarchy, take a trip to Somalia and bask in the full glory of what you're preaching.

    Edit:

Or perhaps watch a documentary on the Hurricane Katrina aftermath...
